Arc Raiders |OT| Gaming's Next Mario 64 Moment™

3 v1 is the last thing I was after in this game.
Yeah, this sounds like total bollocks, if I'm honest.

'Extra XP..'

Most people have been sitting on level 75 for ages, especially those who didn't do the expedition :messenger_tears_of_joy:

A mate of mine didn't, and I'm just sitting on 75. We have a few games in the evening but there really is nothing left to do except get ganked trying to do Queens etc, die to Sticher level ones, or just get the jump on others :messenger_tears_of_joy:

It it was it is I guess but between the absolutely lame arse looking skins and lack of endgame content.. what is there left?

We've got until April for one new map, and this weird mode no one on earth wanted??

That's crazy.

I finally did it. Now wait until april :ROFLMAO:

3 vs 1 is for the hardcore players and streamers.

It's there to keep the sweats engaged. Everyone else can safely ignore it and take comfort from the fact that those freaks who take pleasure in going in to solo lobbies with no objective other than to kill other players will most likely now gravitate towards the 3 vs 1 mode.

New Epic augment today that you can find. One safe pocket and it lets you put anything in there. You can shove that level 4 Bobcat up your ass if you are about to lose a fight.

I want a larger, more open map with more easily defended "no man's land" zones. Blue Gate and Spaceport don't do it enough for me. Force players to bring in smokes and barricades if they want to move from certain sections. I want to snipe fools from 600m away.
What's the point you're too far away to get the loot?

Played about 5 games 3 v 1 solo, maybe im just in non-hostile matchmaking but only had 1 game where I was killed by a squad.
I wonder if the XP stacks with Night raids and the like. I'm guessing no, but would be a cool incentive to take that extra risk to rise in ranks through trials.

I just found the Anvil splitter, use it or sell?
I would sell it personally. It kind of ruins what's good about an Anvil in that it's a fairly versatile weapon, one taps on close land Arc but able to use it long range on Wasps and Hornets. Can't do that with the splitter. If you do PvP though and tend to frequent close quarters areas, it's good.

I only PVP occasionally and to be honest the last 15 to 20 extractions I haven't shot at anyone first, so basically now everyone is usually friendly in the games I frequent.

Having said that I do miss the threat of other Raiders so I may kill someone soon to get me back into the PVP scene. I like the Anvil how it is to be honest, so it's sell, recycle or keep?

First game today...

I need Bombardier cells for the new quests, notice a guy has just killed one so I ask him if he minds if I take a couple of the cells if there is any - he says yeah sure my inventory is full anyway.

I take some cells and as I'm running away I get killed by a Bastion I didn't hear at all somehow. The same guy fights off the Bastion, two Hornets and a Wasp telling me to come to him. He rezzes me. I thank him profusely and drop him an Osprey II as payment in kind. He refuses it, says he's rich and drops me a Snap Hook BP (which I didn't already have) - WHAT A LEGEND.

So any news on why there are no events going on in any of the maps? No night raids, locked gate etc. Cant complete the new project and the new trials...

I presume you don't PvP much? Initially I would PvP a fair amount and I'd find there were a lot more hostile players. I decided to concentrate on upgrading all my workstations so looting was my priority and after a few games not shooting another Raider first I now share games with completely friendly players.

It's nice if I'm looking for some specific loot but it does take that danger from the game which is what makes this game so good IMO but yeah I've come across some very generous Raiders. The social aspect of the game is amazing actually.

No I completely stopped PvP as soon as they confirmed ABMM. I don't even shoot back at anyone who shoots me. Hostile raiders are very, very rare now. The game has lost a bit of its excitement as a result but I find the chill lobbies quite relaxing whereas before I was always on edge. I may try some solo PvP again some day.

Looks like all the events are back in working order now. I heard it was maybe due some rubber ducky exploit on the Bird City condition in Buried City.

I normally play peacefully and only pvp if I get a really nice opportunity. I still have a lot of questing and upgrades to do. But last night I ran into a random guy on dam and we ended up doing Stella Montis pvp runs for almost three hours. It was my first time on that map so it was really fun learning it and embracing the chaos. Mostly got our asses kicked but it's the most fun I've had with the game yet. Unfortunately my usual group is more on the care bear don't shoot side and I can't play as aggressively with them.

I wish there was no aggression-based matchmaking, man. Team size and then maybe skill/experience factored in is all I want. I wish the game was completely unpredictable instead of grouping me with mostly peaceful or aggressive players depending. Still loving it but Marathon can't arrive soon enough.

Anyone else starting to think their update cadence and no forced wipes was a bad design decision?

It might be too early to say but I'm starting to think having a big update every 3 months is better than this slow constant trickle.

I think im in a minority but forced wipes, proper seasons and no aggression based MM would make the game much more appealing to me personally.

Still playing as its a fun game but its very casual.

They painted themselves into a corner a long time ago.

One thing I learned about "general sentiment" is to take it with a grain of salt. Gaming is too complex for people to really understand what they want. Hell, I whiffed on Wildgate and I think I look at games through a much more psychological focused lense that most gamers. I believe you're right. Wipes, proper seasons, and, at the bare minimum, a tightening up of ABM would help this game & genre long term. They need to start making small & medium sized ARC that require a deeper level of coordination between players. Actually, large ARC too.
They painted themselves into a corner a long time ago.
I don't think so. ARC Raiders can go into a bunch of different directions over the next 5+ years. If anything, they designed it specifically so they did not paint themselves into a corner, imo.

I do and you are right. Big update every 3 month with a wipe is better than what they are doing currently. I hope marathon will be like that

Update+wipe every 3 months is probably optimistic considering the overall slower pace of game development/new content these days. Even Tarkov is usually 5 or 6 months iirc (although progression is really slow in that game). But I do think that's the overall plan for Marathon. And while the chronic no-lifers will never be happy, I'll love if there's time to take a breather between endgame and the next wipe. I'm fine putting a lot of time into one game at a time, but I still want to play other things too. For Arc I just don't know. Onc I'm past this initial period I'm sure I'll be returning any time there's new maps, enemies, bigger events etc. but the long term legs really remain to be seen imo.

I'm almost positive I heard an interview where a Bungie dev said they're doing 3 month seasons. I think this was back in April or June they said it but I see it's not confirmed.

Every great story in human history has had a time pressure in it. Richard Gere had to marry Julia Roberts before she ran away. Extraction must follow The Runaway Bride formula.

I think it'll be 4 month wipes personally. 3 months isn't enough time to get content ready and i don't think it will give enough time for the non no lifers to hit endgame (if there is a decent grind).

You could be right, but I swear the dev said yes to a "3 month seasons?" question. It might have been a SkillUp interview.

It'll be interesting to see how quickly it takes players to beat Cryo Archive. If Shroud plays it 10 hours a day and advances quicker than most other players, are we going to be seeing everything in the first week?

EDIT: This is from Grok...

This came up in multiple outlets covering Bungie's closed alpha playtests at their Seattle studio. For instance:
  • GamesRadar (April 12, 2025) reported: "Seasons last three months," noting Bungie emphasized they would be "transformative enough to keep players on the hook," with resets to progression, loot vaults, and faction standings to refresh the experience alongside new content like runners (playable characters), challenges, and story elements.

    gamesradar.com +1
  • Press-Start (April 13, 2025) included a direct quote from a Bungie representative: "Right now, we're planning to have four seasons in a year. So every three months, we are planning to do a wipe between every season."

    press-start.com.au
  • PC Gamer (same day) echoed: "Expect three-month seasons to bring loot wipes, new runners, and challenges."

Think they'll have a date on cryo archive like they do with Destiny raids. We know it has a level 50 requirement, but dont think they'll open it for at least a few weeks after launch.

Edit: sorry just realised this is the Arc thread.

I can only do this if the missions aren't as stupid as the ones in ARC Raiders. I can not stand looking for little trinkets in large complex geometry.
Was thinking more like endgame spoilers/plot elements. I don't want that shit spoiled.

I haven't had too much issue learning loot locations just by playing Arc normally so far, but if I'm stuck on a single quest for a while I'll look up tips. I recall Marathon's beta having quests like go to x location and access y computer which is the kind of stuff I like, since it grounds me to the map and the world. Arc does have missions like this too, but they seem to be a minority so far. Hopefully Marathon leans more into that than random loot quests (although I'm sure they're present to some extent).

Shit, you're right.

Back on topic. Got all my benches to level 2 and now I need to hunt tougher Arc for components. Haven't really fought bastions or rocketeers yet so wish my luck. I'm gonna experiment at first instead of looking up tips RIP.

I think it would be so damn cool if they gated the maps with decreasingly difficult skill checks.

Month 1: In order to unlock Cryo Archive, you need to beat the final mission on Outpost where 20 AI bots descended on your position and your location is visible to all other player in the map.

Month 2: You only need to beat 15 AI bots that descend on your position and your location is only revealed in the final 10 minutes of a match.

Month 3: 10 AI bots descend and your position is never revealed.

Btw, I reported you to the mods for derailing.

To the Marathon thread Batman!

Now requires 600k stash value per skill point (3 million total) plus you can earn the skill points missed from the first expedition for 300k value for each point missed.

Personally I didn't find 5 million to be too much, just that they announced it so late and we had been spending our gear on raids and trials. This time I'm already over 5 million so it's a non issue. I only made 4.4 million last time as I was playing catch up so at least I am covered for that missed point.

Will be doing it for the extra stash space for sure.

Thanks for the info - is spare money included in stash value?

I have 5,458,386 spare cash and 1,629,098 in stash value at the moment. Never did the first expedition. Sounds like I'd be set for the second one to get all skill points from both?

Yes it's cash plus stash value. I'm not sure you'll be able to get the skill points from the first expedition. It sounds like you had to do the expedition to be able to do the catch up mechanic. So if you did the first expedition but only managed to get 2 extra skill points, you should be able to get the other 3.

"We can live for a long time on the money that Arc Raiders has been generating, and that does give financial security and employment stability for the people that work there," he said. "We're growing our studio, we're hiring people, we want to build more of Arc Raiders, we want to build more of The Finals."

"For us, it's a sigh of relief, obviously for any developer, and we're incredibly happy for that and thankful for everyone that's been supporting us by buying the game," he added. "It feels great. Obviously, hopefully, we can have competitive salaries, good bonuses for the people that have done all this hard work and deserve to be taken care of adequately."

The Stockholm-based developer hasn't officially confirmed the exact budget for Arc Raiders, nor has it said how much it's profited since its October launch (quick maths tells us 12.4 million sales is approximately $500 million in revenue, but it could now be much more). Meanwhile, industry analyst Michael Pachter recently claimed the project was made on a $75 million budget (via Insider Gaming). Söderlund wasn't willing to talk specifics but told us that number is "not too far off."

ARC Raiders players are in the doldrums. We all want an hour long discussion on the future of the game but we're getting 3 minute IGN interviews about how everyone is happy the game is successful. I'm starting to fet the feeling we're still 6 months away from the real updates

Did they change the matchmaking? Been on vacation for a couple of weeks, jumped back on and my lobbies have gone from pure PVP to mixed no matter how many people I shoot (or don't).

Much better experienced being mixed.
