Arc System Works Now Owns Guilty Gear

It's true, GG does still hold up. I for some reason sold my AC+ copy but put in GGX2R into my 360 recently and it still looks great (and play well). GGX2 holds a special place in my heart because it was the game that kinda weathered the storm when the 2D fighting genre was pretty much gone. It looked amazing, was fun to play, had crazy combos but was fairly balanced when compared to say MVC2. I don't hear much of the SF4/MVC3/MK crowd talking about BB but you hear GG every now and then. I think a new one has a better chance of getting a bigger crowd than BB.

Anyways, my favorite GG track http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhpisRcYuZw&feature=related

GGX2 was probably my first major love of a fighting game. Okay, excluding MvC2 maybe, but GG was the first I really took seriously.

Most of 04-06 was spent playing that game. Every day I played it (whether by myself or with a friend) I found something new. I remember when I finally managed to beat I-No using Dizzy, I thought it was goddamned impossible for a while.

I like BB but I don't feel the same charm with that series as I did with the GG games. Really hoping a new GG holds the same magic.

It's kinda cliche but I have to say this year has been one of my favourite years for announcements. <3

Same here - spent many many MANY hours poring over MSY videos of Johnny, testing Mist Loop for the first time and putting the fear into my cousin when I used it against him - so many great times were had. Imported the soundtrack from animenation.com for something like £40 (fuck you customs!). I had to repeat a school year because of the damned game lol.

I'm hoping for a PC release (hey, Calamity Trigger got one...!) but I'll fork out for modding my TE stick if they do release a proper GGXXX and not shit like Overture or Isuka.

Awesome news, now give me moar Guilty Gear goodness, my body is ready

People hoping for a vs game had better temper their expectations. It's been said that a vs game will definitely not be in the works. A new guilty gear is definitely a possibility and pretty likely.

Guilty Gear was massively superior to BB, so this is really good news.

Yep, Blazblue is a great game for sure, and i love it... but Guilty Gear is in another level of awesomeness.

And i must say too, that i´m in the camp of zero interest in a crossover (...Hunter runs to take cover)

Admittedly, I've only played the GBA GG game [...yeah] and I absolutely suck at fighters in general but I love the artwork and music of the games, so this is good news for me.

BlazBlue definitely struck me as a more accessible "start over from day one" kinda thing. Which is fine, but how could it possibly stack up to something with as much refinement as GG?

If SEGA still in the mood for selling some of their IPs , FROM should buy dat Chromehounds IP (also I think Yu Suzuki should buy Shenmue IP)

Blazblue CS1/2 is one of the games that makes me leery about jumping from consoles to PC.

If Arc Sys did a port of that + GG:XX above #R, I'd have no regrets.

GGX2 was one of the last fighting games I actually made an effort to get decent at, so a new GG would be a amazing. I love Baiken.

And I liked BB, but it wasn't the same for me.

Praise based God and all his works!!!

XX#R and ^Core for XBLA and PSN. Do dat shit.

This is wonderful news. The possibilities are endless now. Now let ASW make another Fist of the North Star and Sengoku Basara game. Need more fighters that embrace the broken.

There is a God.

ATTN: ASW

HD GG XXX immediately.

GG vs Blazblue immediately afterwards.

If you can only make one though, it has to be GG vs Blazblue - and it cannot omit a single character from either game. Full HD, no cheating.

OMFGIES.

This isn't really "new news". Most people on Dustloop and other fighting game sites have now about this for a while now.

Any way, hopefully Ishiwatari will make good on his new "PS360" Guilty Gear soon. I know ASW wants to give BB a fair chance to shine, but it can't hope to take the place of GG.

Overall I think BB's systems are better. The drive mechanics are much better than the near useless dust launcher stuff. Their character's are much more unique than most of the GG cast, except the later characters like bridget and zappa which are more in line with Blaz. Astral finishes are actually somewhat useful compared to instant kills.

I do like GG's characters and soundtrack better, and really wish Blaz had false roman cancels.

If they could redesign GG to have a drive system (and they might have to if they do a crossover) and all the other improvements in Blaz, the game would be awesome.

Wow. I just started getting into BlazBlue this week and am totally impressed by it. I hope all this talk of Guilty Gear being superior isn't just hyperbole/nostalgia...cause if it is...holy eff.

I was never able to get into the chara design of BB, looked too much like fucking doujinsoft.
Guilty Gear on the other hand always looked great.

Would love an XBLA release of the older games. As for a crossover with Blazblue. It could work but I'd prefer a "pure" new instalment. Bought both Blazblue games but neither the characters nor the setting could really grab me as much.
