Arcade racing games for PC?

I was wondering whether you knew any decent PC racing game that it's not a simulator. I've tried some pretty good PC racers such as GTR2 and stuff but I wanted something more arcadey as I'm more of a console gamer. Something similar to Ridge Racer would be nice.

I say trackmania over the rest... honestly, you need a console to get your arcade game library fix though. PC's have their set of games and consoles have their set of games..u catch my drift?

Sega Rally Revo is being made for the PC, as well as 360/PS3. Hopefully it replicates the spirit of the first two games.

The latest Trackmania (Trackmania United) doesn't really have Starforce. I mean, it technically does, but it's a new version that doesn't install nasty shit onto your system--it's now just like other copy protections (and that means it can be cracked easily too, if you're so inclined after buying it).

There are lots of good arcade-style racing games for the PC... I don't know of many recent ones other than the Trackmania series, though. Most of the ones I have are older:

Moto Racer, Moto Racer 2, Ultim@te Race Pro, Pod (good, but hard to get it running...), Screamer 2, Death Track Racing (aka Rollcage: Stage II, US PC-port name on the box), Death Rally, Micro Machines 2: Turbo Tournament, Extreme-G 2, Road & Track Presents: The Need for Speed, Need for Speed: High Stakes, and Whiplash. (I also have Motocross Madness 2, but I don't know if that would really be considered arcadish... found it pretty frusterating too.)

Outrun 2: Coast to Coast is on PC too? Cool, that's also a great game...

The first two were released on PC as well as consoles, of course.

So they did clean up their act? No shit.

On the safe side, Starforce can also be cracked out of the game.

But yeah, Trackmania United is probably the greatest racing game ever made.

Starforce are sort of moving out of the game protection/DRM business somewhat. A lot of their big customers have dumped them completely because of irate customers, and I've heard they are shifting their business plan more towards data security, though they will still continue to produce antipirate measures, though they will be FAR less intrusive than the ones they became infamous for.

On a sad and somewhat related note, the company behind GameJackal have pulled the plug on it. It was a cool product for people tired of hunting down and shuffling CDs/DVDs in their drives or going through seedy sites with "FREE PSP IF YOU CLICK THE HAMSTER" ads to get a no-CD for a game. I couldn't justify the $30 since I was just playing WoW, EU2, GTR2, and NWN1 at the time, but it sure was a cool applicaiton and is everything I wish Vista's Game Explorer would be.

It's out holy ****. Where do you get it I'm a huge fan of the series but after my HDD corruption have to start over on TM Sunrise if United is all the games in one than some might as well get that and just go on from there.
