Are Beard Shampoo/Conditioner Worth it?

I'm doing no shave this year as I can actually finally participate this year (thank you minoxidil).

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with that stuff.

I use a beard oil and its got my shit lookin a little better but I gotta know if the full shabaz is woith it

No, they are not worth it.
If you are growing a beard, you shouldn't wash it with any soaps/shampoos, warm water is all you need. The longer a beard grows, the more natural oils it will "drain" from your skin, and soaps remove those oils.
Wash with warm water and use beard oil often, when beard oil stops being effective in controlling your beard (because it grew), then use oil+balm or just balm.
You can use deep conditioner once a week, but pick one without many artificial chemicals. Something like a natural hair butter will work.

I have to wash my beard every day with shampoo or it gets stinky. Conditioner I use 2-3 per week.

Beard oil helps to keep my skin from drying.

I can't say for sure but I do use a soap to clean my beard that's specifically made for washing beards. What I use is Professor Fuzzworthy's Beard SHAMPOO with All Natural Oils From Tasmania Australia. Its name might make it sound fancy but I don't think the actual product is which is fine by me. It's just a hunk of soap that I lather in my hands to wash my beard when I take a shower and typically lasts a long time so it's not some sort of huge financial investment. Also I use Honest Amish beard balm and beard wax and Leven's beard oil. They all help with texture of the beard and I suppose the skin underneath the beard. Not sure if they do anything miraculous but I've gotten in the habit of using them and like the feel and appearance of my beard so I continue to use them. Of course your mileage will vary using such products and I can't say all of them would be necessary but at least it seems you are seeing some benefit from using beard oil. :) If I had to pair things down, I would go at least with beard oil and beard balm.

I've wondered this as well since I'm trying to grow my beard out again as of late. I typically just wash my beard with Majestic Pure Argan Oil Shampoo and then I use either Honest Amish Beard Balm or Cremo Revitalizing Beard Oil to keep my beard soft and and my skin moisturized.

I also brush my beard daily with a brush that has boar bristles. My hair is super curly (I'm mixed) so it doesn't grow in smooth and straight but the brush really helps in order to coax my growing hair in the direction I want it to go in and to keep it looking nicer overall and even rather than ratty.

It takes 1-2 weeks for your hair/skin to adapt when you stop using shampoo, but it is essential if you aim for a big beard (as in no trimming at all) otherwise the hairs become brittle. If you keep it at a specific size by trimming regularly, you won't notice it. I grew mine 7 months, but because i used shampoo nearly every day the first 3 months, the result was a dry beard with split ends :( and i ended up trimming it and removed the sideburns. I'm regrowing the sideburns keeping the rest at size 8 (2.5 cm) until the sideburns match the length of the beard, then i'll retry to grow it big again.
This is the max i managed to grow mine:

just keep your bead trimmed and neat looking

i'd probably recommend actual beard oil instead of conditioners or shampoos you'd be better spending for the hair on your scalp/head

I have beard oil and im straight on hair I just wanted to know if actual beard shampoo and or conditioner is at all effective or worth it for any reason

I never use shampoo on my beard. Warm water. As for conditioner, what is the most important is you get one without alcohol. This can be difficult to find, but it generally just makes your bears more dry. However, in the end it does't matter too much IF you are applying oil and balm after your shower anywho.

I had beard soap at one point. It smelled nice. I noticed 0 difference though, so I quit paying. There is a lot of crap out there.

No not worth it. more of a placebo if you ask me.

Even God helps people who help themselves. So make sure you work for your beard and maintain its look. The journey might not be as pleasant as you would have expected, but it is totally worth a try! Be picky about the beard wash & conditioner or even the oil you use for your beard care and believe me, you'll get what you want!

Your beard is like your little baby. Grow it with love, care, and attention; do not ruin it out of sheer laziness!

WTF at the people saying to not wash their beard. Not only is that unsanitary but ffs its right next to your mouth and nose. I washed my beard every 2 days with conditioner and it works for me.
