Are chicken wings worth their price?

Chicken wings are the most "fun" to eat.

I've been thinking about learning how to cook fresh wings in a toaster oven to save myself money from precooked frozen wings which cost more.

If your wings are cheap, you're paying for it elsewhere (drink prices, probably). If they're too expensive, you're likely just paying normal food cost & prep markup. This is extremely general, tho.

Here ya go.

Ok Bros. Tonight its gonna happen.

Tell me what you think.

- 24 drumsticks (soy garlic & sweet/spicy)
- 20 chicken wings (soy garlic & sweet/spicy)
- 4 Cole slaw servings
- 4 large French fries

$75 (note that this is Korean tier fried chicken)

This is what their chicken looks like:

Looks like Bon Chon. Pretty good stuff, though I prefer the Korean fried chicken with the sweet gochujang sauce.

Chicken wings are the best part of the chicken. They are not even hard to eat, you can chew everything off the bones and split the flats in half. My favorite wings are smoked and the finished in the fryer. Very tender and crispy.

ive done it, brothers

i have in my possession the wings and the drums and all other mentioned treasures, and RICE

i will be uploading photographs later tonight

id like to conclude my opinion on chicken wigns, and they are filling as fuck

this here in this pic is less than 1/4th of what i bought

i underestimated the chicken wing, 4 or 5 will fuck you up good

i also had like 4 drumsticks while being fucked up on like 3 wings and some fries

and those fries.. jaysus, best fries i ever had

im uncomfortably full right now

tfw most of what i bought is leftovers

Wings used to be cheap here in the states. Those were good times until the crazy buffalo wing craze that will never end.

Wings are pretty cheap if you make them yourself. A pack of 8 wings snipped and cut into 16 drummetes/flats is, what, $4?

Anyway Korean fried chicken is pricy because:

1) Yelp warriors and food fads
2) That shit takes a lot of effort if the recipes I've seen are anything to go by

Yeah but then you gotta worry about deep frying and all

After today's experience I'd gladly pay 13 bucks for 10 wings and godlike fries

Man fuck chicken wings. You want some tasty chicken? Buy a thing of drumsticks, bread em' and throw some sauce on after you bake. Easy and tasty.

I had drumsticks too

And I gotta say, wings and drumsticks are within spitting distance of each other in terms of flavor

Looks fantastic. How'd you cook them? Any special spices? You only ate 4 of them?! Details.
I bought them!

And I felt good at like 4 wings after that eating everything else was kind of a task lol

I'm surprised cause I called them a snack tier food but nah b, the bones aside a bite of chicken wing is pretty hefty

A mountain of awesome fries finishes the deal

Chicken wings are one of the best marketed scams in all of human history. When you break it down chicken wings have little meat, and are insanely annoying to eat due to one bite of meat being in between those two little bones.

Somewhere in history someone said "Hey man what should we do with these least desirable parts of the chicken? I don't see why anyone would buy them."

"We'll put special sauces on them and advertise them as a 'fun' food."

And it worked. Someone turned the Grade F meat that should be reserved only for 300-item Chinese buffets into the premier entree in college towns everywhere.

People's view on food changes over time. Lobsters were once food only fit for poor people and prisoners.

I only do wings if they are all you can eat because I put down between 30-40 of them.

Place near me called Gators Dockside AYCE wings are like 12$ on Mondays. Awesome sauce selection.

I only do Drums though. Fuck flats.

There was a video I saw of the "right" way to eat flats involving yanking out both of the bones before eating. Seemed hoity toity. I just shove the whole thing in my mouth and pull the bones out. Delicious.
The pulling the bones out works well if the wing has a dry crust.. The wiggling of the bones is more controllable

When the wing is sauced up things gets slippery and messy but it's still possible

Pulling the bones out first trick is in my tool box and can be satisfying on the occasional wing

But yeah i mostly just tear into it

Shoutout to Buffalo Wild Wings for charging 1.25 per wing and then wondering why they only have business when an important game is on.
