Rygar 8 Bit
Jaguar 64-bit
Hm, our local shops here don't have them for nearly that high. I think I saw Mario 64 and OoT for around $35 the other day.
for loose cart those are the normal prices for both of those if oot was the gray cart

I think there is a lot of sentimental value in having it on N64. It is weird, when it is a film people like they don't tend to hunt down the VHS...
Terrible system to collect for imo. There's only a handful of interesting games and most of them are the ones everyone is familiar with. Also, the carts don't have end labels so you can't even display them well.
I don't think there's anything wrong with emulating a game if the only way to buy it is used. But I digress. People want the original carts for nostalgia anyway.

I could have sworn Doom 64 was like £10 a few months back, did the new Doom effect the price?
Cinemassacre featured Doom 64 last week.
Plus, people commenting how Doom 64 is the "real" Doom 3 in many recent DOOM topics that are more active thanks to the new game.Jeez, I checked the price on Doom 64 the day the video came out and the prices were still fairly reasonable (about $20). Crazy how much YouTube can affect prices.
Edit: I guess the Doom reboot being a surprise hit helped drive interest as well.
I been itching to play rush. I loved thst game. The crash course was hilarious my car doing backflips and shit.

And i absolutely agree with that notion btw. It's nice to see this game being appreciated when back in the day it was mostly ignored because of the more "next-gen" Turok and Goldeneye.
I don't know how high your standards are, but there are a lot of "interesting" N64 games. I mean, if you demand that there be 200+ interesting games to justify collecting for a system then yeah, the N64 isn't for you. I have around 70 games and there are still quite a few N64 games that I want
I agree with the end label complaint though. The third party labels I see on eBay are cool but the designs aren't great in my opinion..
They might if the film has been significantly changed over time. Ocarina of Time had some changes levied back on the N64 and again with the 3DS remake. In order to really get that nostalgia high it's got to be just as you remember it (though going back at all is problematic when your memories don't match the reality).
Hell, just the act of inseting the cart/VHS could be enough to trigger the warm and fuzzies.
I found a solution that I'm very happy with regarding the end labels.
Every loose N64 cart that I own I put in a plastic case and then I put the custom end label on the case. Here are two pictures of how they look:

Those look nice, and the stickers aren't on the actual cart, which is a plus for me. I may have to do some of those, to go along with my CiB N64 games.
And they are cheap to do.
The cases are cheap and the end labels I payed US$60 for the set.
Those cases look super nice. I got some of these cheaper looking plastic ones back in the day that hold the cart, manual, and a memory card (game pak?) that I really like but I only have 4 of them still. I wish I bought more of them.
If I want the game loose I will use this case but if I want it with the manual, I will go for CIB.
How well does N64 hardware(control deck and controllers specifically) hold up? Are hardware failures common?
Ah, gotcha.
I don't really collect games, I just get the ones I'd like to play so I like to get the manual with them because some of the older games can be... weird sometimes.
I actually didn't notice how big your cases were until I took a closer look at the second pic you posted. Man! You got a cool n64 setup there!
This is what the ones I have look like. I should try and see if I can get more of these somewhere.
While this topic is here, what N64 Mario Party would you guys reccomend? My wife and I like Mario Party but only played 4-8, and since we have an N64 we may as well try one!
I paid 15 for a copy for my wife in march. But it was just the cart, complete sets are supremely expensive.I could have sworn Doom 64 was like £10 a few months back, did the new Doom effect the price?
I think 2 is the better one.
Gosh, I wonder what the heck I did with my N64 games from when I was a kid. I probably had my mom donate them or something. I wonder if they're still in my room somewhere. Doubtful but I'll take a peek next time I'm at her house.
Are they worth as much cart only?
Edit: dang, a lot of them are worth a good amount even then:
