Are the 20th anniversary PS4 controllers already out?

And the difference between the 20th Anniversary controller and the actual 20th Anniversary is:

Oh man, I never realized those were engraved. Beautiful.

You can start by forking over $1000 to get the "real" 20th anniversary edition controller and console.

I'm a little disappointed the new controller doesn't have the engraved touchpad.

And I bought mine the day it came out. Sony gave me a number. That number is 09031.

These are out in the wild in Canada now. I previously cancelled my order, though, because of the lack of an engraved touchpad and general cheapness, but I do want to pick one up.

Just not for $74.99, $85-ish after tax.

Walmart has almost every DualShock 4 on sale, but of course this isn't one of them.

Just got my headset today from Amazon. They suck at packaging, ripped my box up.

Doesnt really matter since I plan on keeping it, and I got a good deal when Amazon made a price mistake and I got it for $65.

I can confirm that mine also got roughly 10 hours of battery life. Better than any of my other controllers have achieved on a single charge. Looks like they've improved battery life even though it's still only 800mAh.

I got the LE MGSV console, analogue sticks on that felt bad after about 2 days, I don't believe they did for a second.

Same, My Red Controller is already starting to have issues as well, hope my 20th Anniversary will fare better, but we'll see. I feel that most people thinking they "improved" the sticks are comparing there many months used controller to the new ones. The sticks new feeling wears quickly within months. Also I think the 20th Controllers are launching soon at Best Buy for those who still want them. How's stock at other Gamestops for people? Mine still seem to have a few left, though I was told they definitely aren't getting more. Color on the controller is pretty nice as well, really like the classic ps1 feel.

This controller IS SO FUCKING BEAUTIFUL. I find myself jus staring at it sometimes.

Definitely better battery life too. Seriously pick this up before it's gone forg ood.

I could have sworn my blue controler I bought recently had a 1000mah in it when I took it apart. The adafruit 2000mah battery I inserted into it was a dud so I had to put the original back in it.

I got mine yesterday, used it just today. I put it right back in the box. Just on first touch, I'm 90% sure the one I got was a first gen controller. The thumbsticks are squishy, the L2/R2 are wiggly. It just doesn't feel like the new controllers I got 2 months ago and last week. Maybe I'll just switch out the shells if it keeps bothering me, so I can use the controller I bought last week with a nice PS1 Grey shell. It's just the shell I'm paying for, anyway. The guts are replaceable.

It seems like they've improved the quality of the controller, at least for me. The battery lasted a whole lot longer than usual, even when I was chatting and playing MGSV. Mine also seems to have harder rubber on the thumbsticks compared to my launch DualShock 4s, and oddly enough the R2 and L2 buttons seem to be made of a different material than the R1 and L1 buttons. Like, the 1s are shinier and the 2s are more matte when you shine some light on them. Maybe the triggers are made of a better material now. I hope so, since I've broken the R2 button on all 3 of the controllers I own already. Hoping it won't happen to this one, but I'm ready to repair it like the others if it comes down to it.

Just like to confirm everything posted here. It's strange that the battery life is much better despite being the same capacity. I've compared it with a pretty much new older Destiny bundle pad (which has barely been used), and the new Anniversary controller has better battery than even that. Here's hoping the charge quality lasts, and that future controllers adopt the new battery.

Bought one tonight. Not sure if I'll keep it, though, because I'm not in love with the look now that I've seen it in person.

Mostly, the $85 price tag scares my inner cheapass.

Just had an email about the controllers.

EDIT:
I want more paper dog rappers. :(

This is for the PlayStation generation.
This is for the cross button bashers.
The first Ridge Racer and Racoon City survivors.
The Tekken champions and the Gran Turismo front-runners.
This is for those that will never forget that spine-tingling start-up sound or the thrill of the first DualShock rumble.
This is for anyone with a Crash Bandicoot tattoo or a game-save they'll cherish forever.
The Chocobo riders and paper dog rappers.
The port-switching Solid Snakes, the multistep huddlers and the dance-mat partiers.
This is for those who've led double lives, loving every second.

Does anyone else use this controller with a non-Sony microphone? I'm trying to determine if mine is faulty or if there's some supreme bullshit going on.

I have a white DS4 and have always used any random earphones with mic (Apple earbuds, Sol Republic Relays) to chat. When I tried the same earphones with the Anniversary DS4, the mic does not work. I can get to the Adjust Microphone Level setting, so the controller recognizes a mic, it just doesn't pick anything up. People here and here seem to be having the same issue. The mics work on any other peripheral and there doesn't seem to be an issue with the depth of the port on the DS4 or the length of the 3.5mm jacks on any of the earphones.

Now, the bullshit part. When I tried an old Steelseries headset, the mic worked fine. This evidence along with this paragraph from the above link:
After explaining to the support guy on the phone that these headphones have worked on my old controllers in the past, he said that Sony has issued a new firmware update to the new DS4 controllers that ship, including the 20th anniversary controller, that will not allow input from any microphone that is not Sony licensed. He told me that he had experienced the exact same issue (the support guy had the same issue) and he had to go ahead and buy the PlayStation Silver Headset for $60, and that works for him.

...seem to suggest that there is a firmware in these controllers actively blocking any non-licensed microphone. A few things:

1. Why would this be a thing?
2. Does it state this limitation anywhere on the packaging or in the manual?
3. What the fuck?

That's bullshit if true. Wow. I'm going to try mines right now.

EDIT-

Tried a Sony and Maxell earphone and they both work. Maybe it's certain controllers?

How could the controller tell the difference between headsets using an analog connector?

Right? I'm hoping since there are numerous quality control issues in this thread, it's most likely that the 3.5mm jacks also have some problems here and there. I'd prefer to avoid dealing with Sony but I still have my receipt from EB Games, hopefully they'll let me test a new one.

Thanks for checking that out - score one for the QC side.
