Are there any companies you actively avoid/boycott?

Gamestop. Only go there when they have exclusive Pokemon giveaways. I just don't see any good reason to buy games there... prices are same at Best Buy and I get rewards points buying games and everything else there.

Also basically any food establishment that isn't vegan friendly. I'd rather go to a grocery store than waste my time asking about the ingredients for everything just so I can eat a lame side dish. One time my family dragged me to Texas Roadhouse against my will and all I could eat was the peanuts.

"Roku" because it's a dumb name.
Wal-Mart
As someone mentioned before-any sites with click-batty headlines I actively try to avoid.

I try to avoid Samsung products.

I'm not a fan of their decades-old "Imitate Market Leader -> Endless Counter-Litigation -> Market Share!" routine. They've done it in every consumer electronics segment.

I do buy their SSDs, though.

CVS. My girlfriend has several chronic health issues she takes meds for and she was treated like a drug addict at a CVS one time just because of the medication she takes. And weirdly, she only takes certain things when she absolutely has to, often dealing with the pain just to avoid taking her medicine.

Ubisoft (seems obvious enough)
Apple. I just don't find their products appealing like featuring the most mundane features and making them seem like world changers.
Gamestop. I generally don't go there as often as I do say Another Castle or anything.

Those boycotting Nestle here is the latest list I have of who they own. Also don't forget about all the intertwined board members and owners that cross all these massive corporations. It is tough. I know this is not complete they also own Sweet Leaf teas now as well.

Heh. I didn't know they owned Nespresso as well though the name makes it obvious enough.

Kinda wish a poster had responded: "Nespresso, what else"

Not that I can think of. There are certainly products I avoid because of their quality, but I generally don't do that with entire companies.

What's the deal with Nestle?

Only ones I can think of that I actively avoid are Apple and Samsung.

I like the Macbook pros but I'm not paying that for a laptop and I'd only put windows on it anyway. Never had any interest in any other apple device.

Samsung gear has always felt like cheap shite to me, across the entire range from phones to tvs and home appliances.

I avoid them without even actively trying, even in their non junk food lines.

I dont boycott. Have always hated it. Mom used to boycott Nestlé in the '80s and wouldn't let us use anything from them but we've all given up. It's too much work and no one that matters cares that we're not touching their stuff. I don't want to have to think first before buying something or stopping somewhere whether I should buy their product. All companies do bad things. All of them. I might as well live in a cave.

If a company does something bad to me, or comes out directly spouting terrible stuff then it's easier to just not go there.

But then last week we had Chik-Fil-A for dinner. It wasn't my decision. But it tasted good. Even though I know their stance and everything. What was I going to do? Be the only one in the family not eating the food they just brought home?

Though I do also not eat Papa Johns like the poster above, since it really is terrible shit compared to Domino's less terrible shit. But that's not a boycott. Just an avoidance.

I don't boycott any company on principle, but I also don't buy bad products. For example McDonalds makes bad food, so I don't eat there. I don't think of it as a "boycott" though.

Also there are some products I just can't afford. I'm not "boycotting" Aston Martin, but I've never bought one of their cars.

i never bought clothing with the name of the company on it. Somehow it alwas seemed weird to me to pay money to advertise a company.

Also i dislike Samsung.

Why? What Google services are irreplaceable? I use Duck Duck Go for search.

Their business model is gross.
Duck duck go doesn't collect data right? Like how if a person looks for "Egypt" they would get the same results if they were in Egypt, Russia or the US. Whereas Google would filter various search matches to what it thinks you are looking for. During the Egyptian Revolution in 2011 those 3 people in the separate 3 counties would each get very different results. The Egyptian user wouldn't even get Arab Spring because of Googles forced filtering where's the US and Russian user would probably have links to the Egyptian Revolution in they first two links.

How is it hard work? I avoid Nestle myself but it pretty much just involves checking the back of a package here and there and then picking another one. I suppose a lot depends on how much processed foods a person eats; if most of your shop is meat and vegetables then you won't pick up anything Nestle.

For myself, I also don't bother with pretty much any Western/Japan electronics brand these days. I've got a Chinese brand laptop, Chinese brand phone, Chinese brand tablet. Even my mouse is Chinese. They all have the same software, the same internal components and are made in the same factory so I don't know why I would pay a huge mark up just to get a 'Samsung' or 'HP'.

EB Games - You keep pressing me to preorder, and when I do you give my preordered game to someone else and I have to wait 2 weeks for the next shipment and lose my preorder bonus? Never again.

Apple - Every Apple product I've owned (ipods, ipad) has been a big pain in the ass to use. Mostly due to iTunes. For something so expensive I expected a much better user experience. Plus all the other Apple BS that everyone talks about.

Infinity Ward/Respawn Entertainment - Quality of their games keep going down and I feel they are just surviving on undeserved good will.

Samsung. Bought a phone years ago that was advertised as 16gb, but less then half that was usable. So I won't buy anything Samsung any more.

Pretty much my opinion on Samsung as a whole. Lets say, i'm not a fan of their products.

I would also add.

- Beats headphones.
- Ford
- Dodge/Chrysler
- Gamestop/Ebgames

Reebok.
And the funny thing is I can't think of a single thing that they do that makes me want to boycott them.
It's just that I dislike everything Reebok, the brand the shoes, they are just lame to me. They should of been a Kmart brand a long time ago to me yet you still find them in good sneaker stores for some reason.

Jets Pizza fucks my order up around 25% of the time and every time they do it I boycott them until I have an insatiable urge for romano crust.

You can choose whether to have international results or a certain country's results. I don't think they filter in any case – I just searched for Tiananmen Square with my country set to China and it brought up results about the massacre.

I had been avoiding them pretty well, but I went for the first time in years to trade in some games that were otherwise going to go to Goodwill. But yeah, I've gotten "new" carts with save files on them and probably get scratched, unreadable discs around 75% of the time.

Gamestop allows employees to check out new games (so they can hype it up to customers) because they know they don't pay enough for employees to even afford the games. One or two copies will be gutted for display, but always expect a gutted game to have been played.

I don't mean that Google is trying to censor users outright. But if you and I along with 5 other users searched for say a random country. All of us would still get different results. Like there are way too many times where I search for something on google and Neogaf of all places is in my top 10 results which I heavily doubt would happen to say my mother who has never visited this site.

What's with the Apple hate?

I dont think its hate. I don't buy anything made by Apple anymore either, but thats because I dont like their software/ecosystem ideals, leans towards proprietary for the hell of it and "Trust me, mommy knows best" take on design.

But that's not the same as boycotting. Thats me preferring another product in those electronic areas. If they launched a self driving car for example, that did not eschew the ideals that bother me listed above; I'd buy it if it were the best in its class. Boycotting means that you just WON'T BUY SHIT from a company for like.... reasons beyond feeling someone else offers a superior experience/value.

Only company I can say I actually boycott is Urban Outfitters for obvious reasons.

Still refuse to go to a Quiznos because of those hamster commercials.

I also am old enough to have never gotten over this commercial. Although I'm starting to forget which sub shop did it, so my boycott could end in a few years.

Best Buy - after multiple instances of employees directly lying about products capabilities, to me and friends, I just can't shop there.

Walmart, I avoid as much as possible.

I want to boycott Koch Bros. but I'm probably not very successful.
