A friend got some barista class thing, and he wanted to try some coffee experiments with me and other friends. He offered me, my girlfriend and his girlfriend to taste his mix, saying that has cacau and other things

It's like wine.
There definitely are 'notes' of say, berry/fruity, cacao, vanilla, but they very much are 'notes' not considerable flavours. I have no idea why.

I am not, I enjoy tea.
The wife loves coffee though. She had one of those fancy coffee machines that grinds the beans and does all sorts of different things.
She also has a Nespresso right beside it too which she loves as well. She uses that more than the big fancy thing right now.

I hand grind whole beans using an all stainless steel manual grinder. Then I use a cone paper filter pour over method. As far as beans go, I typically just buy the most expensive bag of whole beans that Costco offers.

Finally received my Meticulous espresso after using a Flair 58 for a few years and it's been pretty great trying out the different profiles. Anybody have a good coffee subscription recommendation to try out? Hearing good things on September coffee but still looking around at options.

Considered to be one of the world's best coffees. Napoleon, the islands most famous resident, agreed that the best thing about St Helena was the coffee!

Holy, don't think my coffee palette is sophisticated enough yet to discern between a $87 bag from a 20$ bag yet. Might have to add that one to my bucket list though.,How much money do you have?

I don't know if I'm a fanatic, but I quit jobs where the coffee was awful. Cause somehow all my bosses loved extra bitter coffee (and of course they were the one chosing the beans). I almost always ended up buying my own beans/capsules.
I find fascinating that the coffee beans' taste isn't really linked to the brand/how expensive they can be, but rather your own tasebuds. My favourite coffee for now is this no name brand I can find in one specific store which requires 1 hour of driving.
And also the coffee of one specific gas station.
