Are you content with not getting a PS4 Pro?

I am. I'm perfectly content with my regular, non-slim PS4. Maybe I'm crazy. Or broke. Or both. But honestly, I don't really feel the need to.

I'm content, but I certainly wouldn't mind having a Pro. I just want to spend the money right now on games over an upgrade, even if I like a lot of what I've seen from the upgrades.

Actually looking into unloading my OG and picking up a slim. I can barely stand the noise of it as it is, the Pro would probably send me over the edge.

I mean, obviously a lot of people are going to be perfectly content with not getting a PS4 Pro, including me.

It doesn't make someone crazy either way, it's an incremental upgrade that doesn't wall off any specific content.

If my PS4 went belly up tomorrow I'd buy a Pro to replace it, but I'm not in a hurry to get a Pro just for the sake of owning a Pro.

If it was the ps5 I'd consider upgrading. I've no interest in a slight upgrade when I've only had the system I don't really use much for two years. Same thing for the Xbox.

Very much so! But my PS4 isn't my primary console. I don't play much on it outside of exclusives and using services like Hulu and Netflix.

Yea, if it had a UHD drive i would have picked it up but as it stands I don't feel like i'm missing out. I don't own an xbox one yet either so I'm looking forward to getting a Scorpio.

I keep going back and forth on whether I want one or not. I don't have a 4K tv but I would really love the framerate improvements in a lot of games.

Then again I could save that upgrade money and get the switch. Decisions.

Main reason I upgraded. I would've kept my OG but it was just so loud it was having an impact on my enjoyment of games.

Yup. Not buying a 4K monitor or TV anytime soon and while the visual upgrades would be nice, I can't justify spending so much money for one when I already have a PS4.

Until visual fidelity drops to the point of being able to play console games at a steady 60 fps, I just don't think they're focusing on the aspects that really enhance games.

As is, console games are playing at sub-1080p and some are dropping to 20fps or so. A built-in upscaler just isn't what I'm looking for in a console.

Not at all, because the entire situation irks me. Don't feel like giving Sony any business, nor MS. Strengthens my resolve to wait for PC versions of games. My PC is better than a Pro or Scorpio will be, but I'm disappointed with the thought of buying some compromised PS4 exclusive game. Don't want to engage in a crippled experience.

Couldn't care less about the Pro.

All they have done is possibly delay my purchase of the PS5 till a PS5 Pro comes out.

I compare the PS4 Pro to certain technologies that you really don't feel the need for until you use it. GPS, Smart Phone, Back up camera, etc. Once you go Pro there's no going back.

Yes, although truth be told if i could afford a 4k projector i would upgrade my current one and buy a pro. so i guess i'm content because i can't afford the improvement.

I feel no need to buy another PS4. The only way I might have been tempted was if it came with a stock 2TB HDD, rather than a still-pithy 1TB drive. Just paid $400 18 months ago for my "old" PS4, too.

Very content. I have only been enjoying the OG PS4 for just over 2 years now, so I sure as hell am not ready to go buy yet another PS4. I'll be riding it out until PS5 and will upgrade from my Xbox One to Scorpio some time in 2018.

There's not been a reason for me to go out and get one. Performance difference isn't significant enough for me to warrant dropping £350 on it. Plus I'm flat broke and don't play enough games anymore to warrant a new console mid-cycle.

Aye. TLG alone justifes the purchase for me, but Hitman, The Witness, Ratchet & Clank and Titanfall 2 are all better and I'm not even on a 4K telly.

Yes. Mostly because I've played maybe 3-4 games for the PS4 so far... so upgrading to a new machine to play the same games seems kinda pointless. I'd sooner get the Switch.

I was content not having one until I got one then I became content with having one.

I can understand people prioritising buying games at the moment this is the most stacked fall season in years.

I don't really feel the need to buy a console day 1. I have a pretty good PC and that takes care of multi platform games so consoles are just for exclusives. And I'd rather just let them accumulate and buy them all at once for cheap later.

Having said that 2017 is really crazy and I'll be buying a few day 1 titles.

I'm in the uncomfortable position of feeling that I'd like the performance boosts the pro offers but not enough that it'd be worth the price tag of a new system.
Ironically the existence of the Pro will probably push me towards a Scorpio next year since it's implanted the idea within me that I need to upgrade from my current PS4 to play cutting edge games and if I'm going to spend a large amount of money to make that possible it makes more sense to do so on something that opens up a wider library of software to me since I've never owned any sort of xbox and most of the high end games which the Pro would take advantage of will be on both anyway.

I have a PC so I'm fine, my regular PS4 still works. If the Pro had a better CPU and could run games at 60fps... then it would be another story.

Zero fucks given to 4kinda or 4k.

Inb4 "can your PC run Uncharted" bullshit.

If it could play current PS4 games at 60fps, then it would be a no brainer, but in real terms the improvement in performance isn't anywhere near enough to justify (for me) the sticker price.

Obviously if you have a 4k display, you might get more out of it.

If I did get one, it would be purely for the larger HDD, but I can do that much cheaper.

I'm occasionally a little tempted to get a Pro, but thus far I haven't.

VR turns out to not be the thing that I wanted: maybe someday we'll be able to wander around freely in Skyrim like environments in VR, but such things are sadly not to be with current VR techniques ... too bad we can't just jack our brains in directly, Neuromancer style :-) Until then, upgrading my machine to get the best VR "experience" isn't something I need to do ...

Other than bogging down in areas with a lot of foliage, The Last Guardian ran acceptably for me, which takes care of my other big worry.

Also, I'm saving up enough money to buy one Switch per person in the household that wants to play Splatoon (will be nice to not have to take turns during big events), so that has reserved a big chunk of my gaming budget. If the Switch turns out to be disappointing, I might give the Pro another look later next year ...

well its $500CND so im definitely not buying it as I can't afford it and my ps4 looks fine for now.

its also not a launch unit so its not super loud.

Yes, very much so. Just not a big enough jump for me to throw down money on it. Plus I'm kinda upset that Last Guardian runs not so great on regular PS4 but runs fine on Pro and don't want to support that kind of stuff. What I wanted out of a Pro was something that could run games in higher framerates, and it definitely is not that.

Is this a joke post?

No it's not. It's my opinion. I Have a 4k tv and the PSVR and having traded my OG PS4 for the Pro I can't imagine going back to the OG PS4. It's a much better console for only a little bit more money. The improvements in the games are very noticable, especially on the PSVR.

I really want a PS4 Pro, the problem right now is money.

Will probably get mine in January/February, still saving for the thing but i'm still happy with my OG PS4.

Yeah, seems too iterative to be worth it. And my current launch PS4 is in the process of dying so I don't really trust sony console build quality.

I own a pro and the benefits are generally very small and nothing worth getting too excited about.

But are you going to LIVE LIKE A DOG knowing that you're getting a WORSE version of every game you buy?

That obsession over slightly smoother shadows is worth several hundred dollars to idiots like me.

Yeah, the improvements out now don't seem worth it to me, even as a 4K tv owner.
Maybe down the line if KH3 has substantial improvements
or if they patch LEGO Dimensions' co-op framerate

I'm returning mine

Totally not worth it over a $249 slim imo.

Very few games even run at 4K. I really bought it to play XV at 4K, but it's a mess. Ratchet looks good.

If it gave every game slight improvements that would be better, but 9/10 games are just 1080p on all ps4s.

I already migrated to PC and only play my PS4 for the exclusives, so yes I'm still content with what I have. I might have gotten one if I had a 4K television but I don't plan on buying one of those for some time (like until TV starts broadcasting in 4K).
