I'm definitely buying this first day, I couldn't call myself any kind of a SEGA fan if I didn't. To a lesser extent I couldn't pride myself on being a gamer who gives 'different' titles a chance if I didn't either.
We know what kind of reception these games have had in the past - Killer 7, Ico, Shadow of the Colossus etc - great, outgoing, DIFFERENT titles held high in regards by many (at least in the press) but bought by only a few.
For any of you having doubts over this game or those who want to wait for a price drop, seriously, this is one game you really shouldn't miss. Think back a year ago - a NiGHTS sequel was a thing of fantasy - it REALLY had no chance of happening and EVERYONE was crying out for a sequel - well here it is and I hope all those GAFfers who were so vocal back then are still picking it up or are at least SERIOUSLY considering doing so.
If this bombs and lets face it - there's a good chance it will - (the mainstream gamer wont buy this) you can kiss goodbye to any kind of sequel or Sega taking chances with their games again
BUT ITS SEGA THEY'RE SHIT, RIGHT?
If you're a Sega naysayer, they are getting better, they really are (admittedly not back to the good old DC days) but if they get no indication these games are going down well then pretty much you can look forward to Shadow the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic Riders 3 next year.
BUT THIS TEAM MADE SHADOW THE HEDGEHOG!
It's by the original NiGHTS team. The art style is back, the music is back the atmosphere is back and the classic control scheme is present (if need be). This is so far removed from the crap that was STH. Yes there is some voice acting which isn't that good but that never stopped the original Resident Evil from being a good game did it? Just mute the cutscenes, NiGHTS doesn't speak in the actual levels.
THEY CHANGED IT!
The game shouldn't be dismissed just because the level mechanics have changed slightly, this is a SEQUEL not a remake - a little evolution isn't always a bad thing.
IT HAS SHITTY KID LEVELS AND PET STUFF
These are additional to the main levels, not instead of them - it just serves to give the game longevity.
I'LL WAIT TILL IT GOES DOWN IN PRICE
Pretend you live in Europe where you pay $80 for games all the time, find solace that you're only paying $40 and that you're helping the industry you presumably like a lot.
WHAT IF THE GAME IS ACTUALLY CRAP?
Don't buy it. I would never advocate buying a truly awful game. But all signs are pointing toward positive reviews, yes it probably wont get Mario Galaxy level scores but then again what will? Wii has had a game drought and this is perfect to fill the gap until No More Heroes launches.
STOP PREACHING YOU PRICK!
Yeah sorry this post did come across as a bit of a sermon but I really feel strongly about this game being given a decent chance. Now is not the time to bail out. Aptiva!
