Last gen for me -

Prince of Persia 2008: Day one, hated it.

Deus Ex Human Revolution: Day one, loved it.

Gears of War 3: Midnight launch, loved it.

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection: Midnight launch (technically MW3's midnight launch, but they also allowed for the HD collection to be sold at midnight. Was the only person to do that at that Gamestop location). Loved it.

Dark Souls: Midnight launch, loved it.

Batman Arkham City: Midnight launch, loved it.

Skyrim: Day one, liked it, got really bored quickly.

The Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition: Day one, loved it.

Max Payne 3: Midnight launch, loved it.

Hitman Absolution: Day one, really liked it.

Far Cry 3: Day one, liked it, got really bored by the end.

Forza Horizon: Day one, liked it, got bored in the middle of playing.

Halo 4: Day one, loved it.

ZoE HD Collection: Day one, liked it.

Bioshock Infinite: Day one, loved it.

Metal Gear Rising: Day one, loved it.

GTA V: Day one, loved it.

Must say I don't feel any regret for these choices besides PoP 2008, that one probably stung the most because I wasn't enjoying any of the gameplay aspects from the start. For the majority of these titles I never went in blind, I read reviews, watched gameplay footage, and knew what I was getting myself into.

I can't even remember all of the games I got on day one in the last month alone, but with GCU it doesn't really matter. I can usually sell the ones I don't like for the same amount I paid.

Is going to be really hard remember all of them but.

Pokemon Diamond- Like it
Sonic Rush Adventure- Didn't like it but recognize is a quality game
Bleach: The Blade of Fate- Love it
Sonic and Sega All Stars with Banjo and Kazooie- Love it
Pokemon Platinum- Love it
Sonic All Stars Transformed- Hate it
Will update when I remember the rest.

My last two: Destiny Digital Guardian Edition and Call of Duty Advanced Warfare Digital Pro Edition.

If you would have told me it was the latter that I'd be most satisfied I'd I wouldn't have believed you and yet here we are

Yes, very. Just this year:

Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney
Danganronpa
Danganronpa 2
Persona Q
Persona 4 Arena Ultimax
Super Smash Bros. 3DS
Super Smash Bros. Wii U

Enjoyed all of these games a lot.

These are the games I can remember, though, which I regretted getting on day 1 and taught me exactly which games I should pre-order and buy at launch:

- Assassin's Creed III
- Assassin's Creed III: Liberations
- The Wolf Among Us

I've recently I've preordered hohokum, Borderlands 2 and TPS, LBP3, a PS4 itself and Destiny Ghost Edition.

Destinity was probably the single worst decision I've made with my money since college, all the rest I can't say I regret in the least. Not going to do any other new IP retail preorders though.

Mostly. I think Assassin's Creed III is the only game I hated that I bought day 1. But I really didn't even realize I disliked it so much until I beat it...weird.

I've only been happy with 3 pre-orders so far.

Civ 5: No regrets
Arma 3: No regrets
Left4Dead 2: No regrets

Assetto Corsa: Minor regrets

Alien Isolation: Medium regrets
BioShock Infinite: Medium regrets
Cities In Motion 2: Medium regrets

Civ 5: Beyond Earth: Huge regrets
Total War: Rome 2: Huge regrets

Bioshock Infinite, Aliens:Colonial Marines, and Space Marine were all average pre-orders. I had fun with each of these games but they didn't live up to my expectations for various different reasons.

i am indeed, very happy with mine:

Transistor (PC)

The Banner saga (PC)

Valkyria Chronicles (PC)

thats my whole historic. small but flawless so far.

Generally a good judge of my own tastes and can safely say I've never been disappointed with a game I've preordered. Only times I have are when a more complete version of the game comes out later, which isn't a big deal most of the time.

FFXIII on PC is the only pre-order I'm really regretting.. not because of the game but of how the PC port turned out, just waiting on that patch next month now.

I'd say Unlimited Saga and Destiny are the only two that I truly regret. I did get $50 back for Destiny so it wasn't too bad. But aside from those 2 I have had happy results.

For the most part yes, although I'm mildly disappointed in two very recent pre-orders that I made "Driveclub and The Evil Within", I've only put in maybe a total of four hours between the two.

Destiny still stings but otherwise I've had a good track record. An overwhelming majority of the games I own and play I've preordered.

Can only remember canceling AC: Unity.

Gran Turismo 5= extremely satisfied
Killzone 2= Lived up to the expectation
Gran Turismo 6= buyer remorse
Gran Theft Auto 5= Hit and miss
Civilization 5- Brave New World= Enjoyed the hell out of it

I guess you can say I'm somewhat happy with this ratio.

Off the top of my head:

Banjo-Kazooie: Loved it at the time (probably still would, too, I just can't remember enough about it at the moment)
Pokemon Gold/Silver: loved it
Kingdom Hearts II: loved
New Super Mario Bros: enjoyed
Pokemon Diamond (import): highly enjoyable, and a good learning experience for Japanese
Persona 4: Loved it to death
Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days: loved it (that's right)
Mass Effect 2: really enjoyed
Final Fantasy XIII: loved
Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep (bought a PSP the same day): loved
Final Fantasy XIII-2: highly enjoyed
Xenoblade Chronicles: loved
Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance (and a 3DS): loved
Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward: loved
Shin Megami Tensei IV: loved more than anything else on this list
Phoenix Wright; Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies: loved
Steins;Gate: loved (after the month plus it took for me to actually receive the copy I pre-ordered far in advance)
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U: really enjoying so far
Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth: only one day in, but it's great

So, it's pretty positive all across the board, but I usually only pre-order or buy at launch when I'm pretty sure I'm going to love something.

I was never profoundly disappointed with any of my pre-orders or day-one purchases. Closest thing that comes to it is ME3. For the most part I did plenty of research and knew what I was going into.

Batman Arkham Asylum
Uncharted 2
Heavy Rain
Vanquish
Red Dead Redemption
Mass Effect 3
Portal 2
Catherine
Uncharted 3
Journey
God of War III
Tomb Raider
TLOU and TLOU Remastered
Titanfall
Toukiden
Dark Souls II

The one's that I can remember:

Super Smash Bros Brawl: Yes it wasn't as good as Melee but the sheer amount of content absolutely blew my mind. Subspace Emissary was excellent up until the Great Maze, that kinda killed my perception of it.

Modern Warfare 2: I actually really enjoyed it. Not as good as CoD4 but it was a better game than people gave it credit for being.

God of War 3: Best in the series. Graphically unmatched on last gen consoles and even better looking than many games on current gen consoles. It also had some of the greatest boss fights in any game.

Halo Reach: Not as good as the original trilogy but it was my second most played game last gen right behind Halo 3. Custom Games were the best in the series thanks to Forge World and Invasion was incredibly fun. Halo 4 made me realize I was far too hard on the game.

Call of Duty Black Ops: Enjoyable campaign although I really dislike the respawning enemies. The prison break level is possibly my favorite in the series. Multiplayer was good but Wager Matches were an awesome edition that the series hasn't matched since. Zombies Mode was and still is the best in the series.

Gears of War 3: Campaign was fun, loved the 4 player co-op, but IMO it wasn't as good has Gears 2 since it lacked the same amount of scale. Multiplayer was amazing, possibly the best in the series. Horde Mode was one of the best in any game. Beast was very fun.

Modern Warfare 3: Absolute disaster. Campaign was poorly written and made some of the greatest cities in the world boring to look at and play through. Multiplayer maps were the worst I've ever played. Spec Ops was ok.

Mass Effect 3: Had incredible highs and devastating lows. Whatever your opinion is of the main story, I probably share it. The multiplayer made it my most played game of 2012, one of the biggest surprises last gen.

Borderlands 2: Huge improvement over the first IMO. Had an actual story with a great villain. Also had some hilarious easter eggs.

Halo 4: I've said enough about this game in other threads. Ugh :(

The Last of Us: Easily one of the greatest games of last gen.

GTA5: Awesome game but I didn't put much time into it.

Killzone Shadow Fall: Beautiful but very disappointing

Infamous Second Son: Good game but bad side missions and a lack of end game content kept me from going back after I beat it.

Watch Dogs: Second or third biggest disappointment of 2014

Destiny: Oh god where do I even begin. Easily one of the biggest disappointments I've ever played.

Call of Duty AW: Not bad. Good but predictable campaign. Fun multiplayer that doesn't really do as much new as I hoped.

Overall, I'd say I've been pretty satisfied, Sure I've had some downers recently but with Bloodborne and MGS5 next year I think my day one purchase trends will bounce back again.

The only games I really preorder and buy day one are:

Bioware games
Naughty Dog games
Halo
GTA
MGS
Bioshock
Elder Scrolls
The Witcher
Gears of War

Have not been let down.

Far Cry 2 is easily my worst day one pre-order purchase. I hated it. Aside from Dark Souls 2, haven't pre-ordered a game in about 3 years. Mainly because of Dota 2, though.

So far I've been pretty pleased with my few pre-orders. Ones with asterisks are games that I preordered and went to the midnight launch.

L.A. Noire*
Mass Effect 2
Xbox One
Ryse
Forza 5
Assassin's Creed IV
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes*

An odd selection but I like/love every game/system on here.

I bought a lot more on day one but these are the ones I actually went in ahead of time and plopped money down.

I can't remember any game that I got day 1 that I got disappointed...

...wait, there's Final Fantasy XIII. Guess that's one bad on my list.

Pretty much satisfied with everything I bought day 1.

I buy a ton of games day 1, and the only one I've had buyer's remorse toward is Gone Home. Of course there are some that I lose interest in, but none other than the aforementioned that I regret buying.

they're all Nintendo games, so of course I'm happy and proud

This ^

Plus a couple of oddballs thrown in the mix like Conception II (eh), Virtue's Last Reward(LOVED), Hatsune Miku Project Diva F 2nd (loved), Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus, Various other Waifu games. GTAV(could have waited)

Overall really happy.
Name of the game is to not buy 3rd party AAA titles that aren't Metal Gear Solid.

I think i've only ever day one'd pokemon games starting with gen 4 and diablo 3 plus the expansion. loved them all and still do to this day. i got pokemon blue used from my dad one random day (it was like 20 bucks I wanna say...), i bought silver a few months after release and was fucking astounded by the colors haha. favorite pokemon game ever right there. gen 3 i saw in some random walmart ad with my mom and saved up the $30 and went out and bought it. then yeah started preordering with gen 4. good times.

I usually only pre-order games that I really care about (Smash Bros. and Persona being the most recent ones) but the worst pre-order/day 1 purchase I've ever made was Paper Mario: Sticker Star.

I have no idea why I didn't return it after playing it for an entire day. Great music and visuals, but a terrible Paper Mario game in my eyes. The only pre-order I will ever regret.

This year has been pretty good for me in terms of pre-orders/day 1 purchases though.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
Danganronpa
Professor Layton & the Azran Legacy
Mario Kart 8
Professor Layton VS Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Danganronpa 2
Super Smash Bros. for 3DS
Persona 4 Arena Ultimax
Super Smash Brosl for Wii U
Persona Q

Yes, but mostly because they are Nintendo games and/or games I know I'm going to enjoy (i.e. Dragon Age Inquisition). The one I regret is Watch Dogs, not because it's bad, but because there's nothing special about the game and I should have waited a few months for price drop.

I'm sure I'll forget a couple games, but I'll give this a try:

Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow (Gamecube): Pretty fun, but I had to refrain from just finishing the game on my brother's PS2 when he rented it. No multi also sucked.

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (Xbox): No regrets at all.

Soul Calibur II: Had a ton of fun with this game.

Wind Waker: Lived up to my expectations.

Metroid Prime 3: Loved this game. Really sucked me in.

Sonic and the Secret Rings: I had some fun with it, but uh... don't know why I bought this on its release date.

SSX Blur: Fun game, but I could have waited. Put a decent amount of time into it though.

Twilight Princess: Felt a bit easier than I'd like (if I'm being nice) and I didn't like the collectathons as Wolf Link, but overall a pretty good game.

Gears of War 2: Had a ton of fun playing coop with my brother, and Horde mode on LAN was a fucking blast. Unfortunately the matchmaking problems when the game released caused me to lose interest.

F.E.A.R. 2: Not as good as the first game, but I still thought it was pretty entertaining.

Rainbow Six Vegas 2: Not the best game I've bought on day one by far, but considering I largely bought it for multi, I don't regret it.

Halo Reach: One of the better single players in the series as far as I'm concerned, but the multi wasn't so hot. Overall I liked it though.

Uncharted 2: One of my favorite last gen games.

Uncharted 3: Had its flaws, but still pretty good.

Heavy Rain: I know it gets a lot of hate, but I got a ton of enjoyment from this game.

Dark Souls II: Great game.

Killzone 3: Single player was alright, but multiplayer didn't hold my interest nearly as long as I hoped or expected after the multiplayer "beta".

Splinter Cell: Blacklist: Single player was a great return to form (with some changes), and multiplayer is pretty fun on the rare occasion that the servers work properly. Nice mixture of, "Yay, nice job!" and "Fuck you Ubisoft, why do your fucking servers still not work properly over a year after release?".

Geometry Wars 2: I haven't played a ton of XBLA games, but this is my favorite original game on there that I've played.

Bit.Trip Beat: I had never heard of it until the day it released, but I love this game. It could really use some checkpoints or a practice mode though.

World of Goo: Really enjoyed this one. Still need to finish the last few stages though.

Fat Princess: All of my matches seemed to devolve into TDM in the middle of the map, and I had a few experiences with one of the princesses glitching so neither team could score. I regret this one.

Under Night In-Birth: I enjoy it, but I haven't put as much time into it as I'd like. I don't regret it, but it does seem kind of like a waste. I should really put more time into it sometime.

Blazblue: Chronophantasma: Really fun game.

Persona 4 Ultimax (JP and US versions): I don't regret the JP version since I was so stupidly hyped, and I had quite a bit of fun for a while, but now I'm just frustrated by a lot of the weird balance choices and high damage. I kinda wish I didn't get the US version since I haven't even made very much progress in the P3 side of the story yet.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze: Pretty fun game, and I like supporting Retro.

Fire Emblem Awakening: Love this game. I understand and agree with the complaints about the map design and lack of mission variety, but I still thoroughly enjoyed my time with Awakening.

Shin Megami Tensei IV: Very lengthy and enjoyable game that I thought was well worth the "Atlus tax", as people like to put it (and is a term I hate since SMT IV is meatier than most 3DS games).

DanganRonpa 1 and 2: Hnnnngggghhhhh.

Mario Kart 8: Online races with friends are a blast; only complaint is the retro stages overall are pretty uninteresting.

Bayonetta 2: GOTY as far as I'm concerned.

Persona Q: TBD since my copy still hasn't arrived, but from what I'm hearing, I should really enjoy it.

Overall, there's a couple duds/games I should have waited on, but for the most part I think I do a pretty good job with my day one games.

Let's see, Sonic Generations, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Mario Party DS (that was a coincidence, and it was my mom's birthday lol), Anarchy Reigns, Metal Gear Rising (I'm pretty sure), Pokemon Black, Tatsunoko vs Capcom, Skullgirls... yep, I really know how to pick em.

...Oh wait, I pre-ordered the special edition of Street Fighter X Tekken. And I fucked up the arcade machine coin bank. ¬_¬

I don't pre-order often. Here's what I can remember as of recent:

Animal Crossing New Leaf: Loved it. Stopped playing it as much as I usually did after a year.

New Super Mario Bros 2: Fun enough, I guess.

Beyond: Two Souls: It was alright. Quantic Dream tried way too hard to make something they weren't really capable of, but whatever.

Smash Wii U/3DS: Really fun so far,

Batman Arkham Origins: I enjoyed it, but Arkham City/Asylum were a lot better.

Disney Infinity: I really had fun with this game for a while. The Toy Box wasn't really my thing, but I loved a few of the playsets.

I ONLY pre-order games if I can get cheap, and this generation has been pretty hit and miss for me, but this last couple weeks has saved it.

HIT

- Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls
- Tearaway
- Little Big Planet 3
- Dragon Age: Inquisition
- Far Cry 4

MISS

- Destiny
- Watch_Dogs
- Killzone: SF
- inFamous: SS
- Mario and Luigi: Dream Team
- Paper Mario: SS

The MCC has burned me from ever prepurchasing digital on X1. Outside of that of that, I've bought Destiny, Unity, Farcry, GTA, COD, and SO all on day 1 and none of them have disappointed me. Surprisingly, Unity has been the one I've played the most

I've done some day ones this gen.

The Xbox One itself? Yeah I really like the console. Glad I bought it.

Along with Dead Rising 3 and Forza 5, except Forza 5 lost its luster with the sheer silliness of the marketplace.

GTA V: absolutely.

MCC: I'm a Halo mark. Serves me right I guess.

Professor Layton meets Phoenix Wright: really enjoyed this one. Not sure why I bought it digitally.

Alien: Isolation: my current GOTY.

SSB 3DS: I bought it so my daughter could play against me. Enh. I don't question its greatness.

SSB WiiU: haven't opened the wrapper yet.

NHL 15: still looking for disc 2.

The only time I think I regretted a preorder was Halo 3: ODST, which I didn't care much for, but it came with a 360 controller that lasted me years, so that was kickass.

That's as close as I've come to a dissapointing preorder. I only preorder from really trusted developers.

I'm usually pleased, but I've been really off this year. I bought Watch Dogs, Assassin's Creed Unity, and The Evil Within day one. All games I don't enjoy because they don't run well on my PC and or PS4.

Before 2014, I bought Brink day one. Mistake.
