Are You Pre-Ordering Bioshock Infinite? Two Great Deals Going Live Today.

Hey guys, I need to know: is XCOM gift able? I already have it on Steam.

Yes, it is, and I'd be happy to receive such a gift!

I went with GMG. I want X-COM more than Spec Ops but the $14 credit is what ultimately swayed me. I'll probably give away my Industrial Revolution Pack.

According to this polygon article, you can get the game for $10 off on GMG, with the cash back and free game offers on top of that.

But I don't see that information reflected anywhere on the site.

Pre-orders also include $14 cash back or $15 in Green Man Gaming credit, also buyers' choice, and the Industrial Revolution minigame pack. Those who already pre-ordered BioShock Infinite through Green Man will retroactively be included in the deal and can claim their free titles now. Additionally, pre-orders placed before noon ET on Monday, Feb. 25 will only cost $49.98.

So the final price would be $50, with $14 cash back would bring it to $36, and two free games!

If you already have XCOM, you should go with GMG.

You get the game cheaper, BioShock 1, and can pick between Civ V, Darkness II, BioShock 2, Mafia 2, or Spec Ops.

Also at Best Buy preordering the 360/PS3 versions (not sure about PC) gives you a $20 gift certificate if you're an Gamer Club Unlocked member.

I want to add the Polygon/VG247 information to the OP.

I'm starting to think they are just idiots though.

When you check out, its adds all of the game values together, summing to $109.99. Then it subtracts the $59.99 value of BioShock Infinite. The site says, you save $49.99!! The exact price that they reported. This price is right next to the $59.99 cost to you.

Until I see some actual confirmation from GMG, I'm going to assume they have reading comprehension issues.

Want the Amazon deal if the coupons will work on GTA V down the road if not will go with Steam deal. (FREE XCOM FTW!)

actually if there's 14 cash back in GMG that deal seems more enticing hmmm...

edit: I just bought it from GMG for $59.99 with the cash back option (get $14 back after a couple days) it should be $46 no tax for Cali is good for me! (Amazon charges tax here... not sure if they do on digital stuff but $46 is a better deal to me upfront with 2 free games.)

I got it with the Mafia 2 deal. (Always wanted to play that game after spending hours in the demo with the timer off hack thingy lol.) Any who late March can't come soon enough!

Those are some good deals.

I already got all the GMG free games and it's at 45$ on Steam here in Argentina, so I'm gonna preorder directly from there, and gift/trade X-Com.

But yeah, no way I'm missing on Bio Infinite. Even if it's a disappointment, it's the kind of game I feel I have to play.
And here I was wondering if it was a pricing error. Same situation here, X-Com has been on sale a few times and missed it, but pre-ordering a $45 game and getting a great $50 game? Count me in.

Amazon deal has changed to one $30 2K coupon after the game has been released.

Giving out one $15 2K coupon now was causing scams. People were using the coupon and cancelling the BioShock preorder.

So how can we confirm Polygon's statement that the base price at GMG is $49.99. I am so ready to purchase it, but nothing pops up about it being $49.99 or that I get two other games.

Ya I'm under the impression that they are just idiots and I mean gaming journalism.

Polygon has reading comprehension issues, VG247 copy/pasted the article.

Here's my thinking:

2K has a short history of doing this. Max Payne 3 was 45$ too.

I think it's great, 45$ is still pretty expensive for a game around these parts.

Yeah I got burnt on Diablo 3, Hitman Absolution AND Max Payne 3. So no, hell no. I'll wait until it gets properly digested by the gaming public and see whether or not it's worth my time and money.

My only concern is the development issues the game faced, so I'll have to wait until closer to release to decide if I want to pre-order

A warning:

GMG has been TERRIBLE at getting keys out to people recently. I preordered Omerta from them, and it took them four days after release to give me a key. With Crysis 3, it took two days after release to get one.

At the same time, people who bought the game on day of release got a key immediately. It's a total sham.

I've preordered from them a few times and never had a problem, but I have heard this complaint in the past.

I haven't heard of this from anyone else before, now I'm kinda concerned.

I've heard similar complaints from friends on a couple of releases, but I have a different experience with GMG personally: I've always gotten my keys for pre-orders the day of release at the very least, but most of the time before then. Take that for what you will; I've only pre-ordered a few things there:

  • XCOM: Enemy Unknown
  • LEGO Lord of the Rings
  • Dishonored
  • Borderlands 2
  • Darksiders 2

All keys came to me in time for launch.

Pre-ordered on Steam. Their incentives >>>>

So excited. :D

I'm on the fence right now.

I don't usually spend this much money on PC games, I tend to wait it out for the best prices.

But if I preorder from GMG or Steam, it gives me 3 games I want. Can't really go wrong there.

This is how GMG has operated for over a year now. The closer to release that you preorder the sooner you'll get a key.

I don't really care if I have to wait a bit longer, it's still a better deal imo. Although I would of liked x-com, maybe it will come up in a sale.

If I already have BioShock 1 and 2, Spec Ops, Civ 5 and XCOM and I don't care about Darkness 2 or Mafia 2, is there a deal for me on BioShock Infinite? Or not?

I always find it reeks of a mild form of desperation when a company goes so crazy with these kind of bonuses. Like they are worried something is wrong with the game proper and want to front load as much as possible before "the truth" comes out, as it were.

Or they want free marketing.

Or they want free marketing.

The best kind.

The unlocks seem to be very linear by the way, I have a feeling its a timed unlock rather than based on pre-orders.

It seems to be just under 1% per hour. At this rate we should be done somewhere around March 3rd.

I would think it's more likely to be very smart marketing, especially considering 2K are light on big releases this year.

Infinite shot to the top of the Steam sales charts after the pre-order deal was announced, so it's definitely working for them.

Darkness II is Steamworks so it should send you a key.

Did you check your keys in your accounts.
Yeah, it just gives me this.

The download button is just a guide for activating a key on Steam. The key was also missing from the email, which had the keys for everything else. Weird.

Well, there you have it. People who get annoyed by pre-orders, reward tiers and associated shit: here is an example of why it ain't going anyway any time soon. A:CM happened a blink of an eye ago and here we are again.

We knew Aliens was going to be shit though. Bioshock has a very good chance at being really awesome.

Reward tiers sounds like a dirty as fuck idea on the surface, but when the rewards are an incredible game which just came out very recently, it's hard for me to argue with that.

Feel like I should ask this here, if I buy this on PSN, will I get bioshock 1 as well or is that ONLY if I get the blu-ray.

If I preorder after all three tiers are filled, do I still get the rewards ? Or is it only a bonus for people who preorder prior to a reward tier being unlocked. Just asking because I wanted xcom anyway but I'll take a bioshock infinite extra.

Of course.
