Argentinian Riots After World Cup Defeat

Yeah, feel free to join in on our racism riots instead.

I think it's the Aussie undies that make this photo haha

Not even Brazil did this. Everyone expected them too. These guys are shameful to the whole sport. I pretty much doubt Germany would have rioted, maybe loads of tears and calling in sick at work but not this. You guys got to the final. That itself is an achievement guys.

Hope everyone stays safe, and that the idiots would stop rioting. They played a good game (not that a bad game is any justification either), it's just that Germany was better. Nothing to get too riled up about.

Well it sounded at least like we also had "riots" in Germany after the game, only went quiet here around 4am. That will be a lot of people calling in for being "sick".

Here in Argentina we call these people negros de mierda.

All soccer manifestations pretty much end up the same way here. It would have probably ended this way even if we won.

We have plenty of apes like these, looking for excuses to cause riots. This would have happened anyway, even if we won the match.

We're back to normal, now.

This is not exactly tied to the loss, though. Whenever football related celebrations happen at obelisco the fans are intoxicated to hell. This is not new behaviour, the last two years in a row in december we Boca fans go to celebrate our "day" at Obelisco, it always ends with these kinds of disasters by the sheer amout of drunk. This would have happened if we had won as well, i fear.

Yeah, it doesn't seem anything but drunk people all crowded together and a poor police presence (the link to argentine news someone provided is saying there weren't any police)

nothing to do with fans, these things have happened a couple times already in different occasions and mostly have to do with actual criminal gangs (usually with political endorsement) or whatever using celebrations/whatever as fronts to go about with these rampages

this is 100% unrelated to the world cup

there are usually political reasons behind these things (smearing the government, making the police force division look bad - which doesn't really need any help-, etc.) or just criminal like organized looting and whatnot

don't jump to conclusions about argies being sore losers since i was doing rounds around the city 2 hours later and people were peacefully celebrating/mourning/cheering/whatever

....what?
It's the poor social class (large part of them immigrants) that generally behave this way.

There's a lot of racism here. And well justified for the most part, when you have to be constantly looking behind your back to not get stabbed or shot. It gets to this point when the whole system is corrupt and authorities give more rights to criminals than victims, sadly.

There are, but they are a)incompetent (A truck got stuck on one of their own barricades...) b)cannot act because they are scared they will get discharged for excessive violence. c) many of these riots are sponsored by political forces (governing one included).

Juat....

Sad to see this.

I was expecting some kind of small riot in Rio (fight between argentinians and brazilians), but not in Argentina

wtf?

edit: after see your second post, i repeat: wtf man? really, wtf

In case anyone needs a translation, these posts are blatantly racist.

And again... what?!?

what is this about?

That's in Argentina, it's in the very first line in the OP.

Shameful fans though, 2nd place isn't the best but no reason to riot over.

Their economy is on the brink, again. When a nation is in financial struggle it doesn't take much for them to want to find a release. Not excusing the behavior, but it isn't abnormal.

"Well justified racism"? Is this a fucking joke?

don't take kammie's posts as indication of anything but a (albeit large) part of argie population which as his posts indicate, is made of horrible people

what's sad is that his posts are actually very representative of his kind's thinking

It's a Messi situation.

Aww man Argentinians are racist? I wanted to visit the place, maybe Chile would be a better place.

So if one guy tells you that a whole country's racist (lol) you believe them?

Though I do have to admit that he underscored it pretty well by adding some racism of his own.

>.> I'm going to assume that was satire to drive the point of the WTF of that post you quoted? Cause, I mean, I'm sure you can see what you just did there.

pretty much, tho it's a lot more complicated than that

argieland is a stupidly political country and it's not as simple as that

world cup benefited one group that wanted to shy away the public eye from the big issues like crazy poverty and economy gradually going to the shitter while riots benefit other groups that want first group to fall

with a lot of other intricacies that are not worth bothering right now

but let's say these things are never "spontaneous" riots and looting

Seems like it.
there's a lot of different people like in every country

basically i don't think anyone in the world likes argies and argies don't like them back. we hate people from chile, bolivia, the us, spain, you name it.

that doesn't mean everyone is like that and in reality most people you'll run into will be welcoming as in any other place. you might have to break some walls if you're from chile but argieland and chile have longstanding unresolved issues.

Not at all. I stated what the people rioting are generally referred to as, and why; they're not your typical Argentineans.

If you infer that I'm racist from my posts, I'm not, though I am selectively wary against certain types. Can't say I'm keen on continuing to get mugged or have a gun put to my head.

Anyway, you need to live in the country to understand the situation, reading three sentences on a forum from a guy who lives there and says what I did will produce knee-jerk reactions.

My mind is sort of blown at how blatant these posts are. I hope you're aware you might get banned for this.

Cool. I don't take racist comments as representative of a whole country. Good game though :)

Never thought about it being organized. I take back my other post.

fortunately none of my friends there got hurt

that's ok, it's hard to tell about these things since you're looking at them with little previous knowledge

argieland is a complicated country and a lot about it can be easily misrepresented, including argies themselves.

don't be racist

don't condone racism

no excuses

also you're frighteningly ignorant about your own country
