Just got home from the post office and realized that I didn't sign/date it. Is there anything I can do? The IRS's site mentions that not signing will delay processing, but I can't find out if it's a good/bad idea to re-submit a return with signature....or if I can submit signature separately.

I just went to the Library where they hold a free program to electronicly fill out your taxes for you. All you do is sit with them while they fill out the form on the computer. They ask you questions and ask for forms of identity.

The librarian then prints out some forms for you and a voucher that shows what you owe (if you own any state for federal). She even provided an envelope with the address on the envelope already and I had to do was provide the money and mail it out *dusts hands off* all done :D

I've heard that if you file your taxes electronically they go through a third party instead of going straight to the IRS.

If you eFile, there's like a $40 fee and you still have to mail them a signature. Didn't seem like it was worth it...

I've screwed up worse last year, I forgot to include all my W2s. I called up the IRS and after waiting for nearly an hour they said, DO NOT send in another set of 1040s that will just screw up the whole system. Just wait and they'll send you a letter saying "Hey moron, you forgot x, y and z".

Instead of mailing a signature when you file online you can enter an amount that is located on last years tax return that acts as your digital signature.

Ya dont resend it that will just cause an even bigger mess. Just wait till they mail you something asking for your signature.

I'm actually waiting for H&R Blocks E-file thinger to send me a notice so I can print out a form and send in my signature to the IRS.
