I don't know about the black lipstick but I like the outfit. We give the Laurel character crap (her actress has always been fine I feel and we know she's a method actor now.) but it should be interesting to see how they debut her.

Katie looks great, but it's just way too soon for her to be a believable badass. Maybe the writers will prove me wrong.
Yeah I assumed she'd make a deal with Nyssa to get training from her or something. This is.. Odd, to say the least.
People forget that training time goes by quick in Arrow. Roy is keeping up with Ollie's archery after only a year of training. Thea went from slapping water to bodying three dudes in swordfighting in like 9 months.
"Laurel already knowing how to fight plus months of boxing training = Black Canary" isn't too far fetched for this universe.

Does feel too soon but it looks mostly fine, could use for some black around her eyes. It does seem too soon though, everyone who trains to fight in this show seems to be a savant. Hopefully she still has a long way to go, hold off until like the season four premiere to make her full on badass or something.

Nah. It's a comic book tradition, people turning into unstoppable hand-to-hand combatants without nearly enough training to back it up. Half a year is half a year, no matter who your teacher is. Also, remember the bowl of water thing?
Admittedly, we still don't have a good barometer on Thea's level of skill.

Glad to see Laurel in that outfit and not just because she looks hot as hell. The only reason I didn't hate her as much as others is because I was cutting her some slack due to who she would eventually become, and it looks like the time is finally here. Hopefully she starts to grow in more ways than just putting on a costume.
All we know is that she learned to have hot coffee spilled on her without crying. She had 1 duel with Merlyn where he effortlessly countered her every move except for the last one which they explicitely stated he allowed her to win. After that, she's been mooching off his money since then to rebuild her club and then got kidnapped and damselled yet again without even an attempt in fighting back or escaping.
The writers really haven't been doing a good job of making her seem any more skilled than she was before she got her training.
