Ars Technica Mole: 360 to get Resident Evil 5 bundle, red 360s

I wonder if it will hit Europe as well. If I had to guess they will announce it the week between Halo Wars and Resident Evil 5.
 
Microsoft could have moved a lot of hardware with a cheaper bundle. They went a similar route with the Halo 3 system - over price it rather than try to actually move high volume units.

At least this one comes with the game, though. And if it's a pro system then it's $10 cheaper than buying the game and system separately.

Actually it would be $40 more really unless you get down to the nitty girtty with the download price then a bit less. Pro system is $300. Only way it would be really worthwhile is with an Elite system to be honest. Knowing MS though it will be the 60gb. Canada hardware pricing is 1 and 1 atm correct?

Should've been $350 at most.

$399 is getting into that Halo console territory, but as previously noted, at least this RE5 bundle comes with the game itself (plus SSF2HD).

This bundle is for the ELITE not the pro... and its $399. The same price as the current Elite.

Ah I see. Well in that case it's a bit better deal then. Surprised MS went that route really rather than the just throwing in 60GBs.

That makes a bit more sense then. My guess is that the Elites have been selling like shit since the price cut, so they made this RE5 bundle to spike sales for the Elites.

Personally, I think the better move would be to make the bundle for the Pro and just ditch the Elite altogether.

Yeah. But if so, I take it all back.
 
Even if it is a 60GB HDD then it's not a bad deal...

$300 for the Pro console
$60 for RE5
$15 for SSFIIHDR
$25 for the LE paint job or whatever other bullshit themes/pics they put on the HDD

However if it does come with a 120GB, then it's a no brainer if you haven't already bought a 360, epseically if you're looking forward to RE5.
 
If I had to guess he has the SKU details from a US retail system and I wouldn't bet against that at this point. Well, hopefully the wait is short before the actual announcement.
 
Red Elite confirmed;

In January, rumours surfaced regarding a special, limited edition red Xbox 360 that would be released in conjunction with Resident Evil 5. Over the weekend, that Xbox 360 turned up in retail databases.

A reader - an employee of Toys 'R' Us - sends us this pic, snapped from his store's database. If it's correct, it reveals that the console is in fact an Elite, being priced at $399 (and, well, it says "Elite" up the top). As for the rest of the supposed bundle, or the release date, who knows, the extras might be a pack-in at TRU not in the system, they might only be available at other retails. We'll find all that out in good time.

If it's got Unbrella logos or some other such awesomeness I'll be selling off my 60 GB off.

This also probably means that the regular elite will be dropped to 349$? There's already anecdotal evidence that may be the case, in that alot of stores have 50$ off or 50$ gift cards with purchase of an elite... which is exactly what we saw with the old 20GB pros right before they dropped the price (and SKU altogether).

My guess is. Red Elite RE5 bundle 399$ limited time, Elite 349$ "while supplies last", then eventually a black pro. MS price adjusting to pre-empt an impending 349 or 299 PS3? Hmm....

My guess is that they're just getting ready to drop the Elite to $350. It wasn't moving at $399, and it really won't move now with this bundle out there.
 
That really is a hell of a great deal - you get a limited red Elite with a free copy of RE5...

If you didn't already have either and wanted both, you'd be crazy not to get this...

That's nice, but I think I'd rather have my blakc elite and a CE of RE5 since the only thing LE about the console is the color... meh. Still a great deal if only $400.
