Asha Sharma: Co-Pilot on Mobile Winding Down and Co-Pilot for Consoles Scrapped

Medusa Halo and Premium have a different SoC
One of MLID charts I can't remember, said that Medusa Halo and Premium can be both monolithic SOCs or chiplet design.

In addition, Microsoft and AMD are developing silicon not just for one product, but also for other hardware, including handhelds. "The same technologies that we're introducing will also show up in AMD's discrete GPU roadmap and the same chips that power the cloud," he said. "Because ultimately what we are trying to do is we're trying to provide one common platform for game developers," making it easy to optimize titles for a wide range of devices.

"Provide one common platform for game devs, making it easy to optimize for wide range of devices". The best way to provide that common platform is if all form factors and SKUs at various power levels all used the same Magnus CPU SOC.

That doesn't even make any sense

I meant, that the SOC AMD sells to OEMs for Medusa Point Halo or Premium for regular laptops/handhelds could be different than what MS uses for Xbox branded devices. They could use Magnus AT4 chiplet APU no?

I doubt that AT4 will have higher CPU core count in an Xbox handheld than a Magnus AT2 Console.

That pic shows four Zen 6 Cores for AT4, Magnus only has three Zen 6 cores.

Medusa Premium/Halo are made for laptops, CPU performance is more important than a console.

2026 is Xbox's year now?
2027. They might have a big event in the summer this year, system unveil, but I expect big games to be pushed into next year for the next gen launch. Gears, definitely a next gen launch title. Fable, possibly 2026 but I doubt it, if they do it they do it to catch some double dipper with an improved Helix version for launch.

It's cost cutting. AI is expensive, very expensive and the industries and sectors that use it extensively have to pay up. So now all the big players are raising prices and pushing pay per token subscription models that reflect the actual costs. The more AI compute you use, the more you'll pay.

xAI is doing the same thing. They are starting to charge for EVERYTHING now.

Funny coming from someone who's clearly one of the biggest fanboys out there.

Oh my, how big will the disappointment be when they find out AI will be used in Helix (and not just for upscaling purposes).

Hires like 4 people from AI and then releases statement about removing copilot from consoles and mobile. Not a coincidence.

It's a Master Stroke. +1000 points for Queen Asha's Marketing genuis.

Surprised she actually uses the phrase "getting the business back on track". But that's probably the most honest and accurate way of describing it.
Says a lot about the previous leadership in more ways than one, too. Not only that they've done a poor job of running the business itself but also that it's... refreshing to hear someone in charge of Xbox relaying information without mincing words.
