Not the Asian Will Smith perhaps, but definitely the Asian George Clooney.

Tony Leung's awesome in his own right though.

Well, I'm a 6'3" Korean, so I don't know who could represent me. :lol

I'm only a 6'2 Korean, but generally, most Korean dudes I've known who grew up here tend to be pretty damn tall. Maybe it's the food or something.

Milk does the body good...

Eagerly awaiting the "black men: does Kimbo Slice represent you?" thread

I can't be the only one that remembers that awesome barbaric backyard fight with him and that junkyard dog, right?

Rain is a fucking Stud. Really hot. Even though I'm kinda disappointing it's a Ninja movie he's starring in. It's a big budget and he is the lead <3

Also seeing Lee Byung-hun in GI Joe(Again, disappointing that it has to be another Ninja). But more sexy Asians in American cinema is okay by me.

I really hope we get some break out ones, so we can increase the amount and public appearance.

The first 3 replies are perfect :lol

Also, if I was asian, I'd want to be represented by SASUKE competitor Makoto Nagano. No way he's got a small dick or a catty ass white woman, he does handstand pushups on a ship's mast. Total stud. =D~~

This. :lol

This thread is dumb. He's half white, and acts like a "white guy".

I'm Indian, therefore....

So true I have yet to see the man work nunchucks, iron a shirt, use an abacus, or own a grocery store. =P

WTF is acting asian for someone in the US?

Not into stereotype slanted small eyes and her body is normal asian figure.

What are you trying to say here? Lucy Liu isn't attractive because she has Asian features, and the only attractive Asian women are the ones that have non-Asian features?

She is a stereotype of what Asians are from westerners. Many, most that I know, Asian don't have slanted small eyes. I don't find it "hot." Just like how all Caucasian girls should be blond & big boobs. Played out.

Bingo.

In Hawaii half the state is asian or part asian. I can't say I know what it feels like growing up as a minority like you mainland asians.

It often doesn't feel like being a part of a minority if you live in the city.

I remember when I first came to the US; I was all afraid that I'd be surrounded by "white people" and had to "speak english". Then I was all confused when I touched down in NYC and everything in my neighborhood was in Chinese.

Well, first of all I'm Canadian.

Secondly, I have a lot of Asian friends. The ones that consider themselves "Asian" are the ones who go out of their way to make a point of engaging in a form of Asian pop culture. They're usually into Korean soap operas, import racing cars, or just listen to a crapload of foreign music. They're also really bubbly and like to do the peace sign with ridiculous grins on their faces :lol The funny thing is that, no matter what part of Asia they are from, they always tend to magnetically gravitate towards Japanese culture.

The ones that don't consider themselves to be that "Asian" are the ones who don't engage in Asian pop culture.

IE I'm natively from South America, but because I play hockey, listen to alt. rock, and refuse to butcher the English language by omitting verb conjugations ("I see it on de table lasss night"... argh") I'm considered the "white kid" in the family. It's annoying.

What? Asians do have slanted eyes. I'm sure there are a couple that don't have that naturally but then there are those others that get surgery to achieve "double eyelids."

I think Asian features on Asian women are attractive. Whatever.

Yeah, I find it really sad when Asian girls do that to themselves. :/

Slanted eyes are attractive.

I'm sorry... I am 100 percent chinese and so are a bunch of people I know. I don't have slanty eyes, nor do pretty much all the people I know. Slanty eyes and ching chong crap are freaking stupid. Anybody who does crap that is just ignorant.

Yeah...I never really got the love for her from the Western media. I also don't think Ming-Na Wen is particularly attractive either. Seems more like an aunt :P

As for the Jackie Chan and Communism comment. Just realize that Capitalism doesn't work in all countries. I remember even a CIA operative on Real Time admitted it. There are 1.3 billion people in China with only a small percentage of land and resources to live on/with. It's what's working right now. Give them time to develop to socialism and perhaps less outside interference from the States and they might get something done. I get the idea they want to have something like Sweden, but I don't think it'll happen in my life time.

Asian representation is particularly weak. I won't go into the whole "21" , or "Breakfast at Tiffany's", or "Joy Luck Club"problem. But there's still the inherent prejudice towards Asians in the media, which is what I've touched on earlier. When something wrong happens in China everybody goes apeshit angry and insane and I get the sense people extend it to other Chinese and Asian people. It's getting to Cold War levels when the US was so paranoid they started seeing monsters around every corner.

Of course, this is compounded by Hollywood. "Oh, he/she looks Asian, let's just cast him/her in the role." "Memoirs of a Geisha" "Star Trek"? And "Asians can't really be the hero since the public perception of them is 'the enemy.'" How many movies have you seen referencing the Chinese as the enemy?

As far as I can tell, the only way America has been able to accept Asians have been people of mixed blood, such as Jon Gesselin. Keanu Reeves? He's ok. Dean Cain? He's ok. But if he's 100% Asian, then he HAS to either shoot guns, know kung fu, and not have any interest in women.

To comment on the topic, I hope that Jon doesn't represent the rest of Asians. If so..I'd be embarrassed that someone so ugly has been able to get hotter women than me :P

Why are you making an issue with what he finds attractive? :\

I never said all Asian don't have slanted eyes, but the stereotype is they all do. Depends on country. China not so much. Korea & Japan many. That's why those countries have so much double eyelid surgery. Also, slanted is different from small (double eyelid surgery.)

Jon Gosselin? I don't really identify with him at all. I just see him in tabloids and I say to myself and family and friends "Why are these low baller wannabes headlining the tabloids every week?" I really don't get what the big deal is with having 8 kids. My mom came from a family with 8 kids. Also, like every Irish-Catholic family I know has 8 kids. Why do these jokers get a whole show about it?

The guy I tend to identify the most is Justin Chon from Twilight. I was so pissed he didn't get into Kristin Stewart's pants.

It's only 'working' in China because the people that rule don't give a shit about those they rule. Massive exploitations of the environment and of the rural areas, combined with extremely low wages paid to migrant workers... fuck China. 'Only' a small percentage of land? More like nearly half of Asia. 'Give them time to develop to socialism?' Wut? It'll never happen because communism--and class struggles--are just old ideas that the ruling elite pay lip service to. It's all about profit now, and power, and your dreams of Chinese peasants somehow receiving better treatment some years down the line because 'they want to have something like Sweden'--when every sign points to them building a mixture of Cold War-era Soviet Union and the US--are just delusional.

Anyways, girls in this video are pretty damn hot.

Music might be terrible, but these are attractive asian women, for sure.

yeah i agree. i grew up in a largely asian community (my high school was 60% asian) and this stereotype does not follow. slanted eyes =/= single eyelids. people have surgery to get double eyelids or they wear the eye floss but it has nothing to do with slanted eyes.

.

It's hard to talk to someone when they refuse to listen and instead hold the 'fuck China' opinion. . However, you can go take a look at a map because while China is big, it doesn't mean EVERY AREA is livable. A part of China is Tibet, which mostly Tibetans live on. Then there are the mountainous areas that are so high up that it's hard to breathe. Oh, and the harsh desert environments. And the pollution doesn't help either. On one hand, you bitch about exploitation of the environment and then on the other hand say they have half of Asia to live in? Wouldn't they be exploiting it by living on it? It's hard enough trying to conserve what little forests they have left you know. However, I don't think anything I can say is going to change your mind as I've already seen you in the other threads with your "fuck China" opinion, so I'm going to stop dealing with you because you clearly have some issue with regards to China, which is what I've been referring to.

I will say again that the Chinese government believes it is going for socialism, if you bothered reading my post, you will notice I said that I don't think it'll happen in my life time. I never claimed it was 'my dream.'

Although we do agree that Korean women are hot at least.

It kinda always blew my mind that some asians got surgery to "fix" their eyes to look more western. It seems like something they should embrace about themselves. Although, my fiance's dad might literally need surgery because his epicanthal folds droop so much. :lol

As for who I would pick, were I asian, it would be Tony Leung, Takeshi Kaneshiro, Stephen Chow, Asano Tadanobu, or Chow Yun Fat. Toshiro Mifune was also awesome, but I assume we're talking about people that are still alive. Chow Yun Fat is about the only one who has really broken in with western audiences, and it just so happens that his Hong Kong films are almost universally better. There are some others I like a lot but wouldn't put at the top of the list, such as Ken Watanabe, and some that are great but who I just wouldn't pick as representative, like Jackie Chan.

As far as the women go, well, it seems like there are far fewer attractive and talented asian women in western cinema than there are men, in some ways. Lucy Liu and Zhang Ziyi, and some that are less popular, but until actresses with the talent of Li Gong (she's also far far hotter than the other two) get popular in the west they're basically doing it wrong.

Edit:
I forgot to mention Ye Liu.

There was a PBS special 1-2 years ago that focused on the portrayal of Asian American men in TV/movies. They interviewed a bunch of Asian American actors including George Takei, the guy who played Shang Tsung in Mortal Kombat, the Chinese restaurant guy in Seinfeld, the guy on Mad TV and Jin from Lost. Earlier portrayals of Asian men have either been as nerdy weaklings or pure evil, unless you get into the kung fu stereotype. Proper representation has been improving in modern days, and I don't think Jon Gosselin will do anything to hurt that perception.

Though if there is someone who I think should represent half Asian/half white men, it should be Mark Paul Gosselar.

Hell no, Jon is practically American and I dont think he has much in terms of cultural heritage.

Want a real Asian man?

Lee Byung-hun who is in GI Joe Rise of Cobra

As a guy I greatly admire his acting ability and handsome looks, but if I were a chick....

There are men that I'd feel comfortable going gay for.

It's sad, I used to feel really bad for the guy because of the way she treated him. Now I pretty much loathe him and think he's a horrible human being.
