I mean, were you pissed you couldn't play the female companions in previous AC games?
Is the argument that you can't want something improved if it sucked as bad before? Apply that to civil rights debate and we'd still have serfs.

I'm saying that I don't realize why people are so surprised by it. No competitive multiplayer anymore, therefore no different types of assassins. These are yearly released games. Why aren't people bent out of shape they they aren't able to play native americans or asians? They were in previous games multiplayer creation.

That was terrible. Why does Arno have literally no expression on his face, he looks dead or robotic. We never had a likeable protagonist after Ezio.

So are we going to have hateful, ill-informed sniping about female player characters in every thread about this game until release? I know, I know. All of the people who never bought AC games in the first place are really angry this additional game they're not going to buy doesn't match up with their ever shifting, poorly defined social justice checklist. We get it.
At any rate, it was a nice trailer. You had little bits of romance in the AC2 trilogy with Caterina Sforza, Cristina Vespucci, and Sophia Sartor but never something as dramatic as what the trailer depicted. I just hope that this new guy isn't another naive blowhard like Connor or cocky, reckless jerk like Altair.

Well, he definitely had an appetite, but those particular women were all ones he intended to marry. It didn't happen with the first two because of his fight with the Templars but he left the Order for the third.

Well considering Watch dogs (spoilers)
They'll probably just kill her off near the end for tear jerking, and we won't see any DLC with her, much like people were early on hoping for a DLC with Clara for watch dogs.
they already did that in IV.

Edward posed early in the story as a man he killed, who happened to be an Assassin defecting to the Templars, in order to try to con some money out of a rich Templar, but he was unaffiliated himself throughout the majority of the game. Edward didn't have much of a love story and of the two women he was close to in the story, one was an Assassin and the other was unaffiliated.
I'll be bummed if they pull that if, and only if, Elise turns out to be an interesting or good character.
Who's writing this game, btw? Corey May?

Clara became an interesting character, and they just killed her off, for no real reason imo.
But I'm guessing it won't be the same writer as Watch Dogs, but you never know.
The pocket-watch? It was in the opening of the trailer as well.

Thankfully not, it's a dude named Travis Stout, who's only been at Ubi for a year. So we'll see how he tells this story.
Since when did AC gave people a CHOICE of who to play as?
You people act as though you can chose to alter every single facet of the playable character other than his gender, or that the game has a selection of characters to play as, but no females.
You never had a choice to create your own character in AC, so whats with the sudden outrage, seems like every AC/Ubi thread devolves in to this bullshit, this time it started straight away from the first post.

I'm getting tired of every AC thread devolving into people that don't understand the overarching storyline complaining about things they've never played.
We're beyond the point of Ubisoft's terrible original response. Yes, their initial reason was not only silly, but wrong. The Animus doesn't work that way.
Instead we should be talking about how there'll be more free-running under things (like clotheslines in AC4). I wonder how much of this will be behind the skill tree, though. And how much of THAT will be locked to memory progression. I have a strong hunch that certain skills won't be available during certain missions.
For instance, how likely is it we could go back and replay a sequence for 100% sync with newer abilities? Is there going to be 1 objective? 2? Maybe it'll jump to three? Can we still do the sneaky loophole of playing it multiple times and only getting ONE of the objectives each time instead of doing all/both in the same run?
Are there going to be the dumb puzzles from Subject 16 hidden on landmarks again? Probably...
Also things like what'll be in the season pass DLC? The game is primarily single-player story-driven, so new maps and characters are automatically out the window. That leaves DLC relegated to mostly just some times, time saving unlocks and more missions.
I don't mind more missions, like the Chemical Revolution one, I just hope they're meatier than a simple small island.

Can't wait till this game comes out! Been playing since AC1 and loved most of the games. I'm just really excited for this one since it's next gen only plus the story looks awesome and the co-op looks like a lot of fun.

Your grabbing at straws.
They have not had a story where characters that fall in love are on opposite sides of the plot. AC3 was Hathem the man not templar fell in love with the native because she was fearless and strong, and compassionate.
Which when Hathem was around christopher lee became much colder, and less of an Idealist.
Which is why he didn't put up much of a fight IMO, and acknowledged how Christopher Lee was crazy, and ruthless.
The West Side story angle I think they are going for with a backdrop to the hardcore French Revolutionary war, has me interested to see if they go all they way.
And no there wasn't much of any West Side story angle, if at all in AC4.
I missed that...
I saw it in the beginning, but not the end. It seems to be Arno's pocket watch. It might be an heirloom.
