Assassins Creed 3 Gameplay Trailer

image.php

Shhhhh.

Quiet, you. I'm in hype mode. I'll calm back down in a few days or so.... maybe.

I was hoping they would update the character design a little...

something like the costumes in Brotherhood of the Wolves

What a silly hope... both unlikely and completely unnecessary.

Is it you who posts this in every AC3 thread or is there a group of people doing it?

The hood is iconic to the franchise; they're never going to get rid of it.

I like the character design, that considered.

I particularly like that Connor doesn't just seem to be Desmond in a hood this time (he actually sort of looks part native american from what we've seen, rather than his ethnicity just being a plot device)

When the standout segment of a new trailer for your upcoming game is the protag cheesing it through a building instead of over it... you know you need to put your franchise to sleep for a while. This is the third major installment of Assassin's Creed, yet this looks like it's just going through the motions now more than ever.

AT 10 feet or so? There's like six or so guys with guns standing below you while you stand exposed on a tree branch just above them.

Still, that's probably what I'll tell my suspension of disbelief.
They need between 30 - 60s to load ... if they are not loaded that is.

And the guns, if I remember correctly, is only deadly within about 100m or so. If you hit. They are pretty inaccurate. Round bullets in a tube with no tracks to make it spin or what it is called.

What? That wasn't the standout segment. Just looked really slick... and this has been worked on since AC2 (~3 years) by the actual AC team. So no, you're very misinformed .

And I hope your avatar is a joke after posting that...

Do my eyes deceive me? 60fps? This game is going to look so amazing.
No way. But if it runs better than the previous ones, I'll be happy! (shouldn't be that hard...)

The setting really hit me in the trailer. They're doing a good job there.

I'm not completely sold on the voice actor yet, but hopefully he'll have a little more range in the actual game.

More animals please!

I'd find it hilarious if the same group of people calling for changes to the iconic AC character design were the same group damning Capcom for changing the Dante character design.

lol I'm surprised at how the assassin garbs have not changed all that much and look more out of place through each era. It made more sense in the middle east but in colonial times you would just bring more attention to yourself sifting through a crowd in that getup.

Yes, and it helps to spot him a mile away.
...except when he's in the snow
.

"Everybody aim at the white coat. Fire."

The "iconic look of the series" argument doesn't wash well with me, given the attention to realism and historical accuracy the game is purported to have.

It's a completely valid point that an Assassin shouldn't look like that in 1776. He's what a real Assassin probably looked like in 1776:

There's a chance, albeit a small one, that the VA in the trailer isn't Connor's final actor. One of the first ACII trailers had some other dude voicing Ezio.

You haven't played the games, have you?

They've always walked a line, taking real people, events, and context, and creating FICTION with them.... and then drenching the whole combination in a shit-ton of iconic style.

You're comparing chalk and cheese. It's a completely valid point that an Assassin shouldn't look like that in 1776.

People are overstating how out of place it is. The outfit is a coat (cut and hemmed in the same fashion as the coats of the soldiers around him), leather pants, boots. The out of place stuff are the color, the hood, and the weapons (gauntlets too). Two of those are style (though they can be rationalized as keeping his face hidden and blending in with the snow), the other is necessity.

It's....it's...beautiful. Everything I could have hoped for really. The graphics look incredible (is this PC footage?), the animation is so smooth and seamless and those kills...mmmmm I love that you can run and kill people at the same time now, made that dash toward the enemy commander at the end look so much more awesome. The voice actor was so-so but I'm sure that's just because I'm so used to Ezio at this point. Can't wait for this. Really curious to know if that was console footage or not.

Trailer looks good but feels a bit racist towards Brits.

But then again, the UK has probably plundered every country out there.

I'm only half joking really - but it is unlikely that all the soldiers you encounter will magically not have their guns loaded and ready to fire. And clearly a lot of the time you're going to be a lot closer than 100m.

Still - if Daniel Day Lewis can cross a similar period battlefield unscathed while beating down on his opponents then I guess I'll accept our new AC guy (Thorn?) can too.

Assassin's Creed is FICTION?

OMG.

I'm gonna blow your mind here...

FICTIONAL universes don't require 100% realistic costumes or equipment, so long as they serve a stylistic or storytelling purpose. For all we know, his garb will be addressed in the game (what needs to be... again, he's just wearing a coat, pants and boots... that's hardly cause for alarm).

*EXPLOSION*

I agree. It's hard to get excited about new installments in the franchise when it all looks the same as the previous games. Sure you got some new and improved stuff in there, but nothing I'm seeing thus far seems hype worthy.

Yeah it looked slick; that's why it stood out from everything else that featured in the trailer. Misinformed about what? I never said it was a rushjob, so I don't know how you came to that conclusion. If anything, the reason it seems so run-of-the-mill is probably because since development began, two Assassin's Creed spin-offs have already come and gone.

Downpour? It wasn't perfect, but it diverted enough from the SH formula to justify its existence. And even then, considering how hugely neglected true survival-horror has been this gen, it was definitely a breath of fresh air.

Looks pretty good except for the grass terrain outside. That definitely could use some work. But overall, I'm excited.

Well there are plenty of games in which you kill Germans. Not saying that the british were as bad as the Nazis, but when there's a war you choose a side.

Besides; I'm pretty sure we were killing far more christians than we were muslims in AC1; and there was no real outcry.

This isn't a period in history that is generally taught in british schools anyway (for obvious reasons hah) so I'm sure most won't really be bothered by it.

What are they going to do about facing enemies with guns? Is everyone just going to be a bad shot? Or are they going to go the Drake route and make him a bullet sponge with regenerating health?

Happy to be away from Ezio. What it shows of movement through forest / buildings looks great. The open area fighting is where it feels off which is why I am not completely sold on setting the game during this time period. Sorry if I am late on this but who is the VA?

I didn't think it looked that good to be honest. Think too many AC games have just completely bored me, now i'm completely uninterested in it.

Everything about that looks way too good. I am absolutely loving the setting.

Will enemies still stand around patiently waiting their turn in combat? Never really liked that even though the sequels kinda improved it a bit.

Engine looks a bit rough.

I can't get past how ugly the colonial architecture is. I'm sorry but america is a very ugly country. And deep down you know it's true.

To go from the looking at the amazing beauty renaissance period to seeing colonial architecture is very tragic.

RDR + AC looks good.

I know they are trying to add a ton so it'll be interesting to see how it plays out. I just don't want a "Look at how awesome America is" storyline and while I know that they said it won't be "Rah Rah America", I'm still skeptical.

Now I'm gonna have to clean my brains off the wall.

But really, in Ass Creed 1 at least Altair looked sort of like the priests to blend in, in Ass Creed 2, you are already way out of place. I don't see why people would start crying about this now.

Also, it's a video game, they already take PLENTY of artistic and historical liberties.
