Assassins Creed 3 Gameplay Trailer

It's called rifling, actually ;)
Thanks :)

What are they going to do about facing enemies with guns? Is everyone just going to be a bad shot? Or are they going to go the Drake route and make him a bullet sponge with regenerating health?
Shown in the trailer. You can use people as shield. One shot and the they have no time to reload, with the same weapon that is.

That looked pretty good to me actually. I've never played an Assassin's Creed game yet, I should at least try to get AC2. Tempted to get AC1 as well.

I never liked when the series used mostly generic buildings and cities to go in top of them, so im pretty sure im going to get fed up of climbing the generic trees, cliffs and colonial houses.

The good part of the trailer is when he goes inside the house, but im pretty sure that the scene was scripted. I hope not, entering buildings in so small settlements (so its possible to do) could make an interesting turn of gameplay.

Im going to play it, and I hope it surprises me, but im more interested when the franchise returns to beautiful historical cities. If they wanted to do america so much, why not use 1890-1920 New York. Climbing the first skyscrapers, and watching historical buildings that are not in New York anymore would have been amazing, at least it would have made me really interested.

No, start with AC2. You are not really loosing anything not playing the borefest thats AC1.

Thats awesome.

Game looks fantastic. Really liked the bit through the house.

Environment continues to disappoint. I guess they can't come up with a good reason for all the red coats to not just shoot the main character as he runs right next to them either. If that's the main voice actor he's terrible, by the way.

Not going to watch the trailer because I still need to beat Brotherhood and Revelations.

That said the gifs look pretty good, and the setting should be very interesting.

Can't wait for next gen to get here though. This game would benefit greatly I think...

Dat inception horn

The use of brass does not mean an inception horn.

Also, I'm getting tired of the word "pre-alpha" being used as a substitute for "the game's not finished yet, don't go crazy if there's some errors in the trailer".

If it was "pre-alpha", it wouldn't look anything like that. Most people don't actually know what the terms mean, so it works as a good buzzword, not unlike something along the lines of "blast processing" back in the day.

Anyway, looks pretty good, no doubt I'll get it. I hope they go ahead and finish the main storyline in THIS title, and don't drag it out further than it was supposed to be.

There's zero spoilers, the present day stuff isn't even mentioned.

I can't get past how ugly the colonial architecture is. I'm sorry but america is a very ugly country. And deep down you know it's true.

To go from the looking at the amazing beauty renaissance period to seeing colonial architecture is very tragic.

Uh, have you ever been to Chicago? Or plenty of other American cities with fantastic fucking architecture?

Disclosure: I'm Canadian.

I'm gonna speak on behalf of the British: we don't give a shit, kill us all you want, we can take it. Everyone needs to relax about this sort of thing: why are they only killing black people in that Resident Evil game set in the heart of Africa, what's with killing the Japanese in that CoD game set in the Pacific theatre of WW2. Until 'Massacre the Spanish Simulator 2013' comes out, nothing has been gratuitously racist or anything like that, so everyone chill out :)

3 hours away from exactly 5 days, i was almost right irish - EAT IT SON

Somebody doesn't know how time works, apparently.

Shit was first posted at noon on Monday and it was released before noon on Thursday. That is less than 72 hours. 5 days is 120 hours. Now, don't you feel foolish? :P

'America! Fuck Yeah!' Check.
People bitching about the hood. Check.
'Looks like every other AssCreed.' Check.

Well, it certainly appears as if we are in an Assassin's Creed III thread. Wonder if this pattern will continue all the way to release or if they will get tired of it eventually.

You would think that a group of people who have become 'oh so tired' of the series' mechanics would be able to tell when something they haven't seen before has been included.

I mean, how much change needs to occur? Seems like people want to strip away everything that makes AC what it is, but still keep the name or something.

Damn, this looks really good at 60 FPS. So ready to play this on PC.

I really can't wait to use that rope dart. I wonder if you can use it in combat as well. I mean, Connor is a close combat guy, so being able to pull in the one guy who pulled back to either reload his musket or call in for support would be nice. I also really hope that you can use it for platforming as well.

I like the deformation of the snow, but it definitely looks a little too geometrical during the deformation. The way it paints the character models looks extremely weird as well. Actually looks like white paint being spread on the character and soaking into their clothing.

Connor has some really nice movement animations in general. They definitely made his stances and walking/running animations much different from both Ezio's and Altair's. He just has that predator gait. That is a walk that would make me do a double take because it looks dangerous as all hell.

The chasebreaker segment was cool. It seems different from the one that was talked about before. Can you perhaps elaborate, John Harker?

Using the human shield was a great way to instantly turn a potentially lethal ranged battle into a close quarters one. The soldiers are pretty much fucked at that point.

I'm really loving the way the frontier looks. It seems really vast and the variance in terrain is awesome. I love how you can make out the towns from really far away and then be able to travel right over to them. Definitely nice.

Running assassination is alright, but I kind of wish you kept more momentum through them. Seemed kind of slow. Still, that whole ambush scene was pretty awesome. I like how the troops initially scattered out of shock, but then stopped and started shooting at Connor.

Personally, I like the architecture of the era. I hate fancy shit that is fancy just because outside of fonts/handwriting/calligraphy. Same reason I hate loud characters, they just seem fake to me.

I have to agree about the lack of feeling of these trailers compared to Ubisoft's usual offerings. The ACIII trailers just seem to be lacking in style overall. Don't know what the fuck is going on over there.

Good God, Irish, you whine so. freaking. much.

Perhaps, but it is counter whining. Seriously, go into any ACIII thread since the reveal and all you can see is the same three topics of discussion repeated over and over. Hood. Jingoism. Same old AC.

I also manage to discuss the shit itself.

That could be scripted for all we know, and the way it changes perspectives, it probably is.

It is probably a real long version of what diving through a market stall would do for you in the previous games. So you can't stop mid house but it slows everyone behind you down.

Every time I see footage of Ass Creed 3 I go back to playing Ass Creed 2 and remember I hate it. I didn't have a problem with the 1st, so I'm hoping this one will reel me back into the series.

Is your perception really so warped by your fandom? Those are perfectly reasonable complaints, although I personally don't agree with the third, and there are far more people praising the trailer.

Welcome to videogame forums, Irish. Learn to cope.

Something neat I noticed is that finally they decided to implement facial animation on the Assassin during gameplay again. Those have been missing since the first game. Ezio just has a stupid, vacant look in his face no matter what he's doing.
