Assassins Creed 3 Gameplay Trailer

Looks very good. Can't wait to explore the wilderness and kill that damn bear. HE'S MINE!

I'm gonna speak on behalf of the British: we don't give a shit, kill us all you want, we can take it. Everyone needs to relax about this sort of thing: why are they only killing black people in that Resident Evil game set in the heart of Africa, what's with killing the Japanese in that CoD game set in the Pacific theatre of WW2. Until 'Massacre the Spanish Simulator 2013' comes out, nothing has been gratuitously racist or anything like that, so everyone chill out :)

Thank you for some logic. People complain about being sick of killing Nazis, yet when we're actually given games that are different, people bitch about that too as if we can't actually have the people from the conflict and period. Hell, there's going to be some Americans killed in this game too but that shouldn't be an issue either. No wonder why Nazis are still popular to kill because everything else in the world is offensive...

"We're so sick of WWII games, but here's our list of groups you can't a kill a lot of".

Is your perception really so warped by your fandom? Those are perfectly reasonable complaints, although I personally don't agree with the third, and there are far more people praising the trailer.

Welcome to videogame forums, Irish. Learn to cope.

You don't expect a discussion about one topic to expand into every thread, do you? I don't mind people not liking the game, which you seem to think is the case. I just hate the fact that we have to have the same exact talk every time and it is about the most minimal of elements, two of which have already been refuted (all three if you count the additional costumes you can wear). What's the point?

Also, your point about my bitching is getting pretty diluted considering you've spent more time discussing my posts (well, discussing is not an appropriate word because you respond with gifs) than the actual topic of either of the last two threads.

Speaking of which, here is a thread related gif of a scene that hasn't been posted yet which I particularly enjoy:

I wonder just how many links you can create in the running assassination train. I mean, I'm sure you could probably continue on for a while, but I wonder what the unique animation limit is. I love how you can keep the momentum going after kills now. Stopping to assassinate dudes was such a pain in the ass in the past.

Something neat I noticed is that finally they decided to implement facial animation on the Assassin during gameplay again. Those have been missing since the first game. Ezio just has a stupid, vacant look in his face no matter what he's doing.

Yeah, this is a definite improvement. I wonder if they have revamped the blood or not.

If Ubisoft want to convince people this isn't about US flag waving, maybe they should show less waving US flags? :)

I don't know, they've specifically said it won't be The Patriot, but I'd like some evidence of this.

I do know someone who works at Ubi, but his response was that he didn't write the script :)

AMERICA FUCK YEAH sells games.

He said it was a story about this new character that takes place during the revolution. It's not going to be a point a to point b history lesson.

The trailer voiceover pretty much said exactly what his mission was so I don't know how it could get any clearer, but to have U.S. flags present during the war?!?!?! NO WAY! I thought they just shot at whoever was on the other side of the line instead of actually having colors fly like a typical battle...

He says he'll do his mission regardless of allegiance for a reason, but the war emphasizes a lot of what the Assasssin's are all about so of course there will be a connection.

I guess you didn't mind the rosy picture of Italy in previous games or does that not count since it was different? The same thing going on here. The story takes place during the war and not all around it, just like it did in Italy.

You want less flag waving in a game based on a revolution where you see flags waving all the time?... It is the ultimate event of 'patriotism' for any country for either side.

Now let's see Connor climb some stairs.

Somebody doesn't know how time works, apparently.

Shit was first posted at noon on Monday and it was released before noon on Thursday. That is less than 72 hours. 5 days is 120 hours. Now, don't you feel foolish? :P

i read 05-07-2012 as 5th may for some reason when it was 7th may
KuGsj.gif

i demand evilore puts an option to display the date as 07-05-2012

and you must have learned by now every AC thread is the same, no point addressing it every time

Yeah, they need to include a stair animation, but hopefully it won't be as freaking slow as every other stair climb animation in games. They make it so you can run a mile in about 5 minutes yet it takes the same amount of time nearly to climb a flight of stairs. Always hilarious.

LOL. Something that never looks good in games for sure. There's a few games that made them work like stairs instead of ramps, but it's not something you see a lot of.
Metal gear solid is still my stair simulator of choice. Uncharted is kind of nice as well

Looks particularly bad in AC games since they've never even bothered to try. Altair and Ezio just sort of hover-walk up them.

It kind of reminds me of that AC How it Should Have Ended where that one guy kept calling Altair a sorcerer. He can float, so he must be a sorcerer, unless he is a ghost.

Did that line need more smilies? I'm being slightly facetious, having said that the 'Those who are truly free' + flag combo was a bit bleh-inducing.

I wonder if yankees get their bollocks in a twist when watching some jolly ol 007 and spot the Union Jack?
"UK BLOODY RIGHT, LONG LIVE THE QUEEN AND ALL THAT ROT!"

If they have more than just one building that allows you to do that, I'll be very happy. I wonder what they'll do for those things you used to be able to grab onto and it'd swing you around to the other side of the building. That wouldn't necessarily fit here so it should be interesting. Maybe the windows and interiors are to make up for some of those things.

My neighborhood is ready for ACIII. Every street name here was named after colonial Williamsburg's taverns, streets, and other buildings. Representing The Brick House Tavern! :P

That actually................didn't do much for me, unfortunately. I'm still hyped but I don't know. Not impressed by that trailer.

I hope the ACII trilogy didn't burn me out on this franchise more than I thought....

Meh. Nothing really new anymore, except setting and some moves. Of course it will sell like crazy, but this doesn't mean the Ezio storyline didn't burn out the franchise, at least for me.

Well, I know they incorporated that type of thing into the tree running using branches. Not sure if they will still be present in the cities or not. They may still have dangling lamps or pots of some sort though.

Kinda bleh trailer really.

I really just want to see an extended gameplay demonstration. I want to see lots of tree climbing and how the combat and stealth systems function.

Rope dart weapon seems kinda redundant.

Words were not necessary. It was truly something to see you losing your mind over people who dared criticize Ubisoft's marketing tactics. With this thread I was just surprised to see you back at it, raging against an imaginary entity.

That's what jumped out at me throughout the trailer - it really didn't show off much gameplay. Even the segments that were gameplay could have possibly been mixed with scripted parts.

I know it's only early but from the end of that, it looks like the A.I. will do exactly the same as in its predecessors i.e. stand around waiting for your turn to attack like in an old martial arts film.

Also, I like how the narrator talks about there being no allegiance then footage is shown of the assassin slaughtering redcoats in increasingly brutal ways. I don't like the main character's voice either.

Unless there are some major upgrades to how the game plays rather than new killing methods, I won't be parting with my money on this one.

Now I'm gonna have to clean my brains off the wall.

But really, in Ass Creed 1 at least Altair looked sort of like the priests to blend in, in Ass Creed 2, you are already way out of place. I don't see why people would start crying about this now.

Also, it's a video game, they already take PLENTY of artistic and historical liberties.
Really hated that part about Ass2. Ass1 at least attempted to be somewhat historically accurate. Brotherhood is even worse than Ass2 in that regard. They just kept taking more and more liberties. Don't even get me started on Da Vinci as the wacky, eccentric sidekick.

I hope this one is more of a return to form, and that they don't have Ben Franklin putting together electricity-based weapons for you and that you're not fighting off Reds back to back with George Washington.

assassins creed can change the protagonist, time period, animation, graphics but its still assassins creed

black ops can introduce a horse level and BOOM, frreeeesssjjjhhhhhhh

Doesn't look vastly improved as Ubi said it was, but still a hype-building trailer.

Animations look much better. Could it be as big as an improvement as AC2 was to AC1?

Man I'm going to miss Ezio. Not digging the American vibe tbh. Hopefully it surprises me like Red Dead did.

Yeah, certainly going to miss Ezio in this. This is my favourite series ever, but right now, I'm still not sold on it all. But I'm sure it'll be superb like the previous AC titles, Ubisoft have gotten better and better at creating unique and cool experiences so I don't really doubt them tbh.

Depends on the number of those open windows and if we can use them freely, or if it's some scripted chase sequence.

It'll probably be a more elaborate version of the merchant stalls. You jump into the window, wait for the scripted scene to play out, and regain control on the other side.

Actual posts in this very thread about the three topics I mentioned are now imaginary? Damn, I'm going to need to get my eyes checked. And, yeah, I don't think getting people involved with marketing is entirely shitty. Certainly not the best option, but using the 'extra effort' excuse and then going on to rant about it is not really viable. Is that every post that said that it was too much work? No, but there were some which were the ones I was responding to. Just as in this thread there were posts that directly mentioned the topics I was talking about.

I don't see how I am being as unreasonable as you make me out to be. I'm not going 'If you dislike even one thing about AC, I'm going to hunt you down and make you pay' or anything like that. I'm simply addressing various points that I think are ridiculous.

---

I think E3 is when we will actually see a moment to moment gameplay session. Still, I think it was pretty clear which sections were pure gameplay without scripting and which involved a certain amount of scripting. Human shield, tree running, running assassination, rock climbing, rope dart, and just the fighting in general (even the big battles) were all gameplay.

The house running may have been a scripted chasebreaker, but you may be able to run right back out, so who knows. They are introducing a lot of new running mechanics in general, especially in regards to how you move through the terrain such as by jumping over stuff or sliding under things. Hell, you are supposedly even going to be able to traverse over and around moving things as well instead of just running right into them and getting stuck.

Now, there are likely going to be a lot of open windows to go through just during your regular run through the city, but whether you have full control over Connor as you pass through them is still up in the air.

I still don't know what kind of changes AC is supposed to make while still remaining AC.

Not the first time I've heard this complain, but I really don't understand it. I look at it as a fun take on what Leonardo might have been up to, nothing more.

Also, as far as clothing is concerned, again, Ezio was wearing a frilly shirt, a period-appropriate dress coat, leather pants, and boots. The only thing out of place about him was the hood (which were worn in the time, usually just for cover from weather) and the weapons (many of the central characters wore swords on their hips... and they weren't assassins, just high-ranking members of society).

No, start with AC2. You are not really loosing anything not playing the borefest thats AC1.

AC is totally worth playing. It has its own unique strengths and weaknesses, different than the following AC games. I honestly hope AC3 is a perfect blend of BOTH formats.

I still don't know what kind of changes AC is supposed to make while still remaining AC.

Such changes do not exist, and are only being demanded by a small, vocal group of people. Of the millions of people that buy AC games every year, none of them are thinking 'Man, I love AC... you know what I really want the next one to be? A totally different game!'

Yeah, that vocal minority can be extremely misleading, I suppose.

For as much shit as the original AC gets, I still think it has the most interesting story and characters in the series. ACII really backed away from all of the things that I think made the first one great, but it did improve the gameplay at least.

I still think it looks the best too with maybe Revelations coming up close behind or perhaps even surpassing it. I just love the colors used and general art direction in both games.

It'll probably be a more elaborate version of the merchant stalls. You jump into the window, wait for the scripted scene to play out, and regain control on the other side.

Yup, sounds realistic.

Anyway, i'm still not sold 100% on the setting, but i have good faith the game will be good and it'll change my mind.

Yea, the going through the house is definitely a chase breaker like the Market stalls in the first AC games, you'd auto do a move around them. Can't wait!

Cool. I didn't have to attempt to say this.

People are way bothered by American portrayal. Who's the racists?
