So basically they ripped from ACII the multiplayer experience they talked about in the first interviews, and are selling it as a separate game.

AC2 is an awesome, awesome game.
Yes it is. Fixed nearly all of the issues I had with the first title. Plus you get to fight
the motherfucking POPE

The lame thing about this game is that Ubisoft will be focusing on it at E3, which means we probably won't be getting an AC III teaser anytime soon.

It'll be interesting to see if they get Rome right. I'm not totally up on the history, but when I visited the Roman Forum a few years back I was told that much of it was virtually underground up until the early 1900s. It likely would've been whenever Ezio visited.

But the Castle Sant Angelo (where you start the Rome section) was pretty close to how I remembered it, which was nice.

Let me just echo this question.
It does mention "AND for the first time, multiplayer..." meaning it sounds like an expansion pack more than anything. Probably a little too heavy for DLC but too light for a full release.

Hated AC1, loved AC2, am not interested at all in this

Ezio's story, as far as I'm concerned, finished in AC2. In a spectacularly stupid way, yes, but I don't want anything added to that.

I want them to take their time and make AC3 fresh, not just go back to the same well.

Gamer ass raping meter just exceeded 9.3. Recommendation is to stay far away from this thread, plug your hole and walk away backwards.

I think this is fucking great. More Ezio is a good thing, and the setting has plenty more life in it. Besides that the team working on this is huge.

This is probly my most wanted game this year now aside from whatever Jaffe is working on.

Uh...fuck this. It's cool and all but I finished AC2 months ago. They should have put all of their time into AC3 and then worried about this expansion shit.

I might check it out. Looking forward to AC3 like a motherfucker though.

Where does it say this?

I remember it being said in a ubisoft sales report a couple months ago announcing the existence of this game.

a new story for ezio and multiplayer mode.

what i'm surprised about is that no one on gaf remembers that ac 2-2 was announced a while ago (ezio, in rome, multiplayer mode, calendar 2010) and the only thing new here is the title :p

Also in response to concerns about AC3, I wouldn't be worried. AC2 was made by 4 teams. One team made the town simulation. One team made the Assassin's Tombs. Two teams made the game. Odds are that this game is using only one of the teams and that it's more about production pipeline management. If you know you need 4 teams for AC3 next year, and you know that you only need 2 teams for AC2 this year, then you've got 2 free teams who don't have enough time to do a project from scratch. Meanwhile, if this game can push 1-1.5 million and keep brand awareness high before AC3, it's all good for Ubisoft.

I don't think I'm ready for more Assassin's Creed. I don't want to burn myself out with too many of the same series at once. Who thinks it's a good idea to do this yearly crap?

you just want a tag quote :P

:lol :lol at all the doom-saying and conspiracy theories in this thread, makes for a good read :) Oh GAF, never stop being you.

So will ACIII have the fleshed out, improved multiplayer mode instead of the rushed one this will ship with?

AC was good. ACII was great.
This... does not seem all that appealing to me, from what (admittedly) little I know of it.
But I'll definitely give it a shot, if nothing else.

Get that common sense of yours out of here!! >:(

I'm a big AC fan and I'm not paying $60 for this. Despite ACII being a huge success it dropped to $30 rather fast. ACII had 5 areas and this will probably just have Rome + MP.

Preordering on Day 1, the multiplayer better be addicting and smooth on the PS3.

I couldn't agree more. This is Day freaking One!! Can't wait for more info on the multiplayer.

Since I don't care about multiplayer my purchase of this game will depend on how good the single player is. If it's tacked on I doubt I'll care.

Either way I'm not picking it up until it goes on sale. The first game went to $30 super quick so why would I pay full price for an expansion?

i will skip this and wait for AC3. i will spend my money on more original, creative, and satisfying games.

If there's a campaign and multi then fuck yeah. If multi only then I may get it when it goes cheap. They better let you customise your assassin in multiplayer. Like your looks and weapons and stuff.

As amazing as the Assassin's Creed II universe was, I found it to be a pretty non-challenging game. Any battle I had to involve myself in, I just mashed the square button with the occational block, and that was it. Sure, I could get more inventive if I wanted, but since the game didn't force me to actually mix my fighting methods, I just didn't...

I thought maybe adding difficulty levels on the game would have improved that, giving some gamers the challenge that they seek out of a game.

It was also a glitchy affair, with speared enemies levitating off the ground, story related trophies not unlocking(with no patch released for this issue) and absolutely no replay value for me.

So I guess I'll pass on this.... as well as on Assassin's Creed III when it finally comes out.

Ubisoft has like a thousand people in this studio (ok maybe not literally but the number of people who reportedly work on AC games is always nuts - 250+). Point is, they could've had a large group of people working on this since before AC2 shipped. I'm waiting for more details.

Ubisoft officially announced today the upcoming release of AssassinÂ’s Creed: Brotherhood that is scheduled for Fall release on the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.

Brotherhood takes place in Rome where Ezio is now a legendary Master Assassin. With his new title, he must journey into ItalyÂ’s greatest city where the city of green and corruption takes place. Ezio will command an entire brotherhood that will rally to his side.

For the first time, AssassinÂ’s Creed Brother hood offers a multiplayer game. Players can help the Templars by using Abstergo to train in the art of Assassination to eliminate the Assassins. Gamers can choose from a wide range of unique characters, each with their own signature weapons and assassination techniques, and match their skills against other players from all over the world in different game modes.

AssassinÂ’s Brotherhood is scheduled for Holiday 2010 for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The Official PlayStation Magazine will have its first look on the game in the July Edition of the game.

Is that Ezio in the blue artwork? Seems interesting, but I'd prefer to wait until next year for AC3. We'll see, it might end up surprising like ACII did.

Also, Valkyrie Profile lulz.

No single player, no thanks.
....

where does it say there is no single player?

That description makes it obvious that there is SP (play as ezio) AND MP modes (under Templars)
