Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag or Watch Dogs or both

So I just watched the Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and I was completely floored. The game looked really great. There is so much to do and the pirate setting was always interesting to me.

This is the video I watched, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ICemupWG56U.

I know it is old but I was never into Assassin's Creed, I only played part of the first one and brotherhood. Never got even close to finishing them, too boring.

Now Assassin's Creed 4: BLACK FLAG is what I am talking about, going from island to island, killing people anyway you want(I know this is a staple of this series), ship warfare, upgrading them, the setting, etc. This game just seems to be hitting a lot of the right things for an open world game. It was never even close to my radar until I watched that video.

The multiplayer seems like the same as the others so I hope they add a lot to it to make it something special.

Now Watch Dogs on the other hand like everyone else, I was so excited when it was first revealed. The hacking aspect and the different ways you can go about your mission was what sold it for me although it looked like another urban open world TPS. Since then with each video, the hype died down and all I saw was another urban open world TPS. It seems so similar to GTA V, didn't buy and sleeping dogs, never finished. I am burnt out of these types of games honestly. The setting maybe is what is killing it for me.

Maybe Watch Dogs will be something special so I am keeping a close eye on it to see if it was be worth picking up later especially since both games are like 22 days apart.

So my questions are, what are you picking up, or are you picking up both and your reasons?

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Release date
October 29, 2013

Watch Dogs, Release date
November 19, 2013

I have both pre-ordered for PS4 just because I want a swell of launch games. More often than not now I feel like I made a mistake with Watch_Dogs but oh well.

Europe:

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Release date
November 21/22, 2013 (except for last gen)

Watch Dogs, Release date
November 21/22, 2013 (except for PS4 - 29)

Even more fun.

Edited to include everything

Neither for me personally.

I strongly dislike AC games and I'm very concerned Watch Dogs is somewhat of a clone rather than something completely new.

Neither. Ubisoft's open world games are about doing the same thing over and over again to fill up meters. In the unlikely event that either game is good, however, I can wait three or four months for it to drop to $20 like every other Ubisoft game.

Everything I've seen from AC4 looks way more impressive than anything I've seen from Watch Dogs. I'm buying both of them, but the first thing I'm doing on the 22nd is swimming around and doing pirate junk for a couple dozen hours.

Thos ship battles...if well designed ( not like in ACIII where they were more like a mini-game ) are a very strong point for Assassins Creed.

I have both pre-ordered for the Wii U. It'll be my first Assassin's Creed game. I just hope the sailing is great as that's the only reason I'm picking it up. :)

They're practically the same game from a gameplay standpoint. Pick your favorite setting and enjoy some of the worst gameplay the industry can offer.

AC4 is gonna be $30 like how it is every year during Black Friday, so don't buy at launch unless you are a dumb dumb.

Watch_dogs, i was interested... until its now confirmed for 30fps on consoles... might wait for a steam sale, or if the reviews are stellar or some shit.

Turn off all these simulations and shit and give me 60 fps please.

I had pre-ordered Watchdogs for the PS4, but every Watchdogs trailer looks less and less impressive and more boring. So I switched to Assassin's Creed IV, as pirating looks more fun. It looks like Ubisoft has borrowed some gameplay elements from Sid Meier's Pirates, which would be a good thing.

If reviews on Watchdogs are good, it can always be purchased post launch.

Just Watch Dogs for me. Still haven't finished AC Rev lol. I know people say just watch the ending on YouTube but I really want to finish it up on my own... someday.

I've preordered ACIV Blag Flag for PS4. I'm waiting for gameplay impressions on Watch Dogs before buying this one.

More interested in Watch_Dogs because of the Chicago setting, but I want to see how much better it is on PS4 than the Wii U. I think both will be on sale for $30-40 by the New Year, so it may be worth waiting it out a bit.

If Watch Dogs' main idea (the hacking) is implemented as poorly at it seems (AC or Splinter Cell like - go to point x and press A to hack) I will get AC4, I don't want to play two AC games simultaneously. And I like the set up of AC4 more than the one of WD.

I still hope that the hacking will be rather free, as the whole idea is that everything is always connected, including yourself. And I still hope that this will reflect in the Gamepad usage.

Both! A next gen Chicago and Carribean will be great to explore... and to justify the cost of next gen to my roommates...

God I know. Ubi open world games are such a guilty pleasure for me.

Watch Dogs looks stale and im tired of Ass Creed (after AC3). Neither.

AC needs a massive change in direction, tired of the recycled animations and boring mechanics (just watching that video and seeing the synchronisation and i yawned)

Watch Dogs looks more interesting to me, but that's only because it's a new IP. So tired of Assassin's Creed.

Judging by what you wrote I think ACIV is the game for you.
The more I read/watch about Watch_Dogs and the less I want it, while it's the opposite for ACIV, I'm just not 100% sold after the terrible ACIII.

Neither, though I am more interested in Watch Dogs.

Thing is I am not getting Next Gen day one, I am getting it later on, but even if I was getting it day one, I am not sure I'd invest in either, I stopped buying AC after Brotherhood, and as good as Watch Dogs looks, the hacking mechanics feels rather simple.

Neither for me at launch. I'll get them when they're a lot cheaper. If I had to pick I'd go for AC:IV. You can kind of expect a certain degree of quality there because they've made a lot of them. With Watch Dogs I'm not too sure, I'm kind of expecting an AC1 situation.

assuming its actually good i'm getting watchdogs day 1 (and getting the sexy deadsec edition at that), never played an asscree game but I like the whole pirates setting so was going to pick up ac4 on the cheap next year but ubi need the support for their wii u efforts so that'll be an early pick up too

Same here. It was a toss up for me, but I'm really interested in seeing my hometown represented.

It's Ubisoft, so both when they're $19.99 in two months.

But if you must, ACIV. Pretty colors, hunting / crafting, decreased emphasis on stupid modern overarching plot, more ship combat, free-aim with firearms, swimming to find coves and things. Both have that Ubisoft outpost reclamation for more map coverage thing I love, and while I'm still wary after ACIII, for color palette alone I'd go ACIV over WD.

People were way more excited for Watch Dogs before GTA V, I think.
I dont think it looks interesting at all, and i know it will be worse than GTA V.
I always thought Black Flag looked pretty cool

After AC3 and now that Watch dogs is 30fps for next gen... I think its safe to say, people shouldn't be playing either on current gen unless you REEEAAALY want to. Ubisoft hasn't given a fuck about console game performance in years. As long as it runs ok on the top of the line pc, its good enough to release!

I've written Ubisoft off for years BUT that Far Cry 3 was pretty damn competent from all angles. Maybe they've learned something.

I'll wait, maybe get them for PS4.

Got my watch dogs ps4 copy preordered thanks to a promotion during e3, I wish I got AC preordered because it looks like it will be the better game but I will just wait for christmas or sell WD if it's crap.

I'm getting Watch Dogs on PC, but I can't say I'm too excited for it. It has a cool concept and all, but then again, look at Assassin's Creed and the way that turned out.

I'm a sucker for open-world games, so I'll probably get both for something to play on my PS4.

Though to be honest, I'm not expecting a ton from either. Used to love Assassin's Creed, but AC 3 was a big disappointment for me and everything I've seen from Watch_Dogs after that initial E3 presentation has looked kinda dull.

Just hoping to be pleasantly surprised I guess. Especially with Assassin's Creed since I really enjoyed AC 2 and Brotherhood.

I'm personally getting both for PS4 at launch, but if I were you I'd pick Assassin's Creed IV over Watch_Dogs.
