Assassin's Creed IV Xbox One footage

To me this is what next gen should be about, more alive feeling and looking worlds ( outside of pure graphics i mean)

Like proper foliage and vegetation, critters/animals roaming around and life like effects ( weather effects, wind and its effect, way footsteps are etc...)

Now that sounds even better. AC4 is definitely on the top of the list for what gift to get him now.

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to diving into the game myself (just two weeks to go until the PC version releases), and then there's Liberation HD in January (PS360/PC).

Fire the hair animator.

It's very difficult to see through the compression but based on some thin geometry I think it's definitely NOT 720p. Could be native 1080p, could be 900p. Will have to wait until we see more to know for sure. At least it's looking great!

The previews of the PS4 version say it's not all that far removed from current gen versions, but it does look a bit sharper, run a bit smoother, and has longer sight lines. Was enough to get me to wait.

Great to see that the weather physics effects aren't exclusive to the PC version. I was worried about that. I can't wait to pick this up for PS4.

I hope this game starts getting more buzz wants it hits next gen. The game is truly great. For as much shit Assassin's Creed gets for being the same thing, there really isn't anything quite like AC4.

Indeed. Open world at sea and it does it beautifully.

what does rain look like on ps3?

This is one area just seeing this rain effect in this video on my phone is a huge difference than PS3. I have had many rainy nights like this and it is like a drizzle effect with and no sideways rain, no puddles etc around when walking.

To be honest when raining I havent even seen the lighting as demonstrated in this video, this is leaps beyond the effects I have experienced in the PS3. Was not expecting it to be that big of a difference but it seems like it is.

I can also tell a big difference with the smoke from the cannons as they are small and disappear quickly on PS3 version, this shows a greater length and wide of smoke from the cannons, and also the waves jumping on the ship are much more present in this video.

Yup, I'm guess at least 900p.

Im with you, can't wait to see how the next fallout, TES, The Witcher 3 etc... are going to look. And pop-in and tearing should be a thing of the past, that's very annoying.

Quick, get the microscopes out and nitpick the footage everyone!

Looks great, I should really get around to finishing 3. Is it important to do so first?

Nice find. Very interesting.

Was debating whether or not to pick this up for PC or for Xbone, but I've always played AC on console in the past, so I think that and COD will be the launch titles I pick up.

Looks great, but I don't understand why we've been in the dark about the XBO version for so long.

PS4 version has been shown and demo'd (hell I played it at Eurogamer, was great and looking stunning), I can't see Sony embargoing anything on the XBO version so I don't understand why so little has come out about it.

I would consider the silence to suggest theres an issue with it somewhere but the video looks great as I said. Odd.

Looks good. It's nice to see some next-gen footage without someone babbling up a storm in the background.

It's possible they didn't hit the desirable performance until very recently.

It will be interesting to see how it looks on next gen. Been playing the X360 version this week and really impressed with how it looks.

Alright, this made me laugh for some reason.

Entering the battle using our front-facing cannons we noticed Ubisoft has taken seriously the Xbox One's upgraded x86 Accelerated Processing Unit (APU) designed by AMD and based on its Jaguar processor architecture, adding a host of new particle effects to the game.

This game came out of nowhere for me, after playing 0 AC games. Can't wait to try it out.

What's funny is people here don't know just by looking yet make such a big deal about it.

Yeah, because watching compressed youtube vids is the exact same as playing it on my 52" 1080p television.

What's funny is the constant downplaying of the resolution these games have.

Looks like native 1080p to me.

And yet the silence from Ubisoft is deafening, on top of their delay in actually showing footage from the XB1 platform.

I'm betting it'll be at best 900p on the XB1 at this point, which is fine, but I would be pretty surprised if Golfstars and KI on the XB1 is running at 720p, but AC4 is able to pull a full native 1080p.

For an article I'm working on, I've sent some requests to Ubi PR for them to confirm the native resolution of AC4 on Xbox One, but they have declined to respond. So...

Only exlcusive stuff for PC is the better/faster HBAO+, better shadows and larger shadow maps, Better god rays, and TXAA for when jaggies simply are not to be tolerated.

Kudos to Ubi for this, I didn't think they'd pull it off, but well done them...

the only worry is why keep it locked up if it was ok all along?

or perhaps it wasn't... 900p or 1080p the team did good...

IW take note....

I think with subsampling, macroblocking and other compression artifacts (and potentially upscaling) its amazing that many people can easily see that it's better than 720p.
They just can't be sure by how much yet, up to 125% improvement.

Ehh, didn't mean to downplay it, especially since I went out on a limb and said what resolution it's running at. Perhaps I was misled by just having watched Ryse footage also on youtube which seemed significantly softer.

No. I can easlily see 1080p. 900p at worst. Ubisoft acting wierd with the xbox one version of the game might have to do with their deal with Sony. The commercials/ posters/ other ads didn't even mention that the game was coming out for the 360 and xb1.

And I'm legitimately suprised by how many people are suprised that the gane isn't running in 720p. Sure Ubisoft has been silent, But the next gen versions are the current gen versions with dx11 lighting, slightly better textures, slightly better reflections, vegitation that can move, and better wet surfaces. It shouln't be pushing either system too hard.
