Assassins Creed Mirage : A Return to Roots

Nice, I'm a bit concerned about the price though. Pubs don't usually knock $20 off a new AAA game unless they know there are issues or it's insanely short for a ac game. Remember every AC console game was $60. This is $50. Is this going to be one map and only a 6 - 8 hour game? That would suck. AC games, even the original and ezio trilogy were long multi map affairs. Usually in the 16-20+ hour range.

Also what are they going to do with modern world protagonist? Layla Hassan, (I had to look up her name), was the epitome of unlikable and felt like an annoying feminist lesbian "I'm the best at everything" character who was unmemorable outside of wishing you could skip her parts. Desmond had real backstory and a character you could root for and empathize with. Don't know why they went from him to "anyone can use the animus" to her.

I'd love a return to roots game. Let's just home it isn't loaded with writing for "modern audiences" and has good historical locations and events. Also hope it's a good length, the $50 is concerning, asi doubt ubisoft is doing that as a gesture of good will.

"going back to the roots" means ignoring open world, and restraining from doing big world things like in Valhalla, one sad move from Ubisoft.

I'm one of the weird ones who likes both the old and new styles. I loved the Ezio trilogy, and also loved Origins and Odyssey. This does look great though, and I'm definitely liking the more dense world which was mostly missing from Odyssey.
I loved ezio trilogy and origins /odyssey as well. They were different styles of games. I was OK with that. Ac valhalla jumped the shark though. It gutted a lot of the fun rpg mechanics but left in the huge world. Thr problem is the two were hand in hand. It also had lackluster story. Odyssey and origins had a shit present day main character, but the animus gameplay was top notch and had memorable storyline. That and I was always getting cool new gear that worked differently somehow. Dont know why they took both them out for valhalla. Yet left in the insane microtransacgions for gear. I never got past the first few hours of valhalla and never left Norway, so maybe it got better later on. I was just too bored with it to continue at the time.

Bla kflag to syndicate were good in gameplay but the story was lacking big time. That was for bother modern times and historical play. People love Blackflag but it was definitely a step down in narrative and soul. Something the ezio games ac 1,2,3 brotherhood, revelations all had in spades.

Not sure about it.. the gameplay they showed isn't enough to me to judge if it something i would love. I liked only the last 3 open-world AC games.. so not really sure yet about Mirage.

AC Mirage was supposed to be Valhalla DLC, before they spun it into it's own game. That's why the scope (and price) is smaller than the three past entries.

I think they are also testing what kind of reception a classic gameplay receives and wanted to do a fan service for those who have played AC from start.

When AC Infinity comes (the hub), we could see mix of different game styles in different branches. Huge open worlds, classic AC, mobile games...

The environment graphics look great, but the character models look really... simple I guess. It looks a bit off. Also - when they said they were making a throwback game, they weren't kidding. This looks like it plays like the PS3 games in every way. I wish they made the world simulation, AI, NPC schedules, etc. more dynamic.
