Assassin's Creed Syndicate: Video game sites debate how buggy it is relative to Unity

Isn't input lag a Ubisoft staple? I remember it making the aiming and driving way harder then it should have been in Watch_Dogs. Fix that shit Ubi!

DTOID commented on the technical issues, but they still said it was in much better shape than Unity

Unfortunately, I was concerned with the overall technical performance of the game. There were several instances of texture and environmental objects fading in, along with NPC characters popping into view, and some slight frame rate dips throughout my preview session. While this title is in a much better state than Unity was last year at launch, I do hope that the devs can iron out the issues. Given how rich the setting is -- they nailed the atmosphere and tone of the era -- it would be a shame if these technical hiccups persist in the final release.

Feel like i'm done with the series at this point...
Still playing Revelations on 360 and recently started Black Flag on XB1.
I can't keep up with the annual releases and i'm kinda over it anyway.

Wow. I did not expect this. With the removal of any kind of multiplayer and last year's disaster, I was actually expecting a good AC game with excellent performance like AC4. If Ubisoft messes up AGAIN, I hope it hurts.

There are "tech problems", and then there are TECH PROBLEMS ala Unity. Not every AC game has been as utterly shit as Unity was at launch, not even close. If you need evidence of that, look toward Ubisoft's unprecedented response to the complaints.

AC1, AC3 and ACU were shitshows when they launched, it would be hardly a surprise if this one ships with significant tech problems. It would be disappointing as fuck after last year though.

You'd think they'd have everything locked down already. They've made 15 of the same game.

But they've changed game engines. Unity and Syndicate is almost like drawing from scratch.

Think of how Nitendeo made 3D mario games for years but had to make significant delays to make a polished experience on the Wii U. Too bad the rest of the industry doesn't have the same standards as Nintendo.

What's going on here? Is it some tool that he shoots out that allows him to be able to do that or is it just a glitch where the existing line just pops into place out of nowhere?

Unless something changes, that is how the game's zipline mechanic works. Rather than shooting it and then anchoring the line, you just jump and presto! Out of thin air a line that is anchored behind you and at the destination.

I apologies to mods but I just could not resist

Eurogamer seems to think it improved

So, Syndicate faces an uphill battle to regain player confidence when it launches this November. The silver lining from last year is that Ubisoft gained plenty of feedback on how it needed to improve and, happily, from the sections of Syndicate we played it feels like this has to some extent filtered through. It's clear that Syndicate is an Assassin's Creed game, but it's also clear that another year of technical knowledge and fine-tuning for the game's engine has produced a far better and more stable result. In the early build we played, Syndicate ran smoothly at all times.

Mods please close this thread if you think it is unnecessary.

And still mum will buy little jonny the game and it will sell millions.

I personally used to love exploring these cities even if the gameplay was crap but I skipped unity with the problems reported.

Hurts even more because Paris and London would be amazing to play in.

So now multiple sites report the game runs perfectly fine, at least on PS4?
A shit ton of articles just released at the exact same time. And so far this seems to be the only article that states the opposite.

EDIT:Apparently not, the majority tho state the opposite. And Eurogamer of all people stating the opposite raises an eyebrow.

I wish people would stop refering to this game purely by its sub title. I keep thinking they're refering to the actual Syndicate.

Was that on the same PCS with controllers plugged in that many developers use to dupe console gamers as to how the game will look there?

Would be funny if Syndicate broke the pattern of the evenly numbered AC games being great while the oddly numbered ones are terrible.

Is it fun though? Unity was a huge step back in the fun department for me. Didn't even finish it and it wasn't the technical issues that drove me away.

Yeh this was my main issue with Unity other than the technical issues. It was boring as fuck story wise and the gameplay just wasn't fun.

Not going to go near syndicate, it looks as janky and automated as all the others. Why are these games even about "Assassins" anymore, the new feature in this one is bare knuckle brawling with large groups of guards. So stealthy.

I thought there was a new Syndicate reboot. Title is 79 characters. Is there enough from for "AC Syndicate"?
:/

Same here, I got excited for a moment. Thought we were going to see another Syndicate game (hopefully a real Syndicate this time).

Instead it's about another crappy AC game. Meh.

EDIT: What the hell happened? I posted in a thread and then my post comes to this one. WTF.

AC1 and AC3 had plenty of technical flaws, but once again they were no where in the same league as the issues with Unity.

There is a reason why Unity prompted this sort of response from Ubisoft. Its problems were an order of magnitude larger than any AC game before.

I could be wrong, but I don't think anyone previewing AC: Unity expected it to end up with its horrible performance issues at release either.

Weren't they caused in part by the game constantly pinging servers for UPlay data and such? The new game might just have that stuff disabled until its full release.

Real mature with the Crossing Eden posts, guys. Keep it up.
They're seemingly allowed unfortunately. :/

AC3 required a huge "thanskgiving" patch. It had a huge amount of issues at launch, some baffling, (floating gun).

Assassin's Creed, not even once.

I mean, aside from the five/six games I've already played!

Anyway, this is a franchise that I've personally written off. Technical issues are really the least of its problems at this point, although this engine seems to be pure trash.

Why the fuck journalists aren't able to point that out accordingly in their previews ? I don't care if that's a preview build, I wan't to to know in what state this preview build is. Fucking act as journalists and not just as extended PR for Publishers.

Edit: Nvm, it seems like they are allowed to talk about it now and some of them are mentioning the bugs and performance issues.

So that thread regarding broken games this holiday season was right.

Fucking Ubisoft. And I loved and supported them with my molah throughout Ezio's timeline (II, Brohood, Revel)... Special editions and shit.

But at least we are seemingly getting a heads up with this preview.

Holy shit. How is this possible after Unity and leaving co-op out of it for Syndicate?

If true, Requiescat in pace, Ubisoft.

The footage looked OK? Nothing standing out like obvious framedrops, tearing, or random clothes swapping in the crowds.

I told myself it wasn't going to be Assassin's Creed because Ubisoft wouldn't want to burn their customers two years in a row, lest they start losing them permanently.

lol @ myself
