OMG

I just finally got a chance to watch with audio now now that I'm at home. All I know is that I'm gonna start shittin my pants every time I hear the cicadas.

I'm so fucking excited for this game.

Anyone have a link to the video off hand? I'm just wondering why they would choose that instead of an alien or something. I guess what I'm asking is, what is supposed to be impressive about the meat cube.

unintentional use of meme

I started to watch the video, but quickly shut it down about the time he crawled under the truck.
Too spoilerish for my tastes. I want to experience as much of MGS4 as I can with controller in hand and playing.

That fact that there even exists a fucking rolling meat cube.

if so that just blew my fricking mind!

ugh 3 month wait :(
If you look real closely you can see the aiming crosshair in the over the shoulder shooting parts, I guess

If someone has a sec, could they repost how to watch the higher quality version of the trailer? The thread is so long now I have no idea which page that was.

that was pretty cool imo... i hope it's in the final product or there is some sort of cross promotion where you can download a solid snake skin for altiar in assasins creed for ps3

It's in the OP, I thought.

I guess you can see that, but what I really want to know is how Kojima actually did this. I guess they asked Ubisoft to allow them to make a simple parody of AC, in which, I'm guessing Ubisoft agreed. I guess the last part of that video of Kojima coming out really blew me away though. I was guessing that it would just go black after the info about when the game was coming out came up, but I guess I was wrong. Anyone guessing if Altair will show up in some form or another in MGS4? I'm guessing so.

I was thinking to myself. Imagine all of these background war sounds in 7.1. I want a 7.1 sound system in the near future.

The meat cube is a fully real-time, fully rendered, physics based, breakable gelatinous object. There are a lot of interesting things in that video.

I guess the main perk about the meat cube is that its elements have not been implemented in a game, before.

I'm going to spend at least an hour messing around with those Gekkos at that point in the game, I just know it.

This game will take me forever to beat. And I'll love every fucking second of it. :D

Holy shit that is so awesome, on every level. :lol

Easily the greatest thing April 1st has given gamers since the Sheng Long code.

Well I was wondering, it didn't look like any bits and pieces are really flying off. I see some brown dust, but I would think big brown chunks would be coming off. Maybe I just need to watch the real video. Do you have a link to it?

The meat cube is just an evolution of soft-bodied physics. Most games don't implement them but a few recent titles are notable exceptions. Bendable foilage, cables and such. I was playing Cortana on Halo 3 yesterday (yes, by choice) and had to :lol when flood spores ran into a chunk of cable causing it to wiggle and slide towards me. A more familiar example would be the bendable foilage in Crysis and Halo 3.

Btw, I really hope you can play the game like this - without the garish HUD. I don't want that ugly yellow color to ruin my MGS4 experience.

Ok sorry about that.

Anyway, I just replayed MGS1 for the first time since it came out. Also just played Sons of the Patriots for the first time. I basically did this so I'd understand the story when 4 comes out.

I've always thought the stories were interesting, but not been a big fan of the control scheme. After watching all of the videos and reading up on MGS4, it looks like this one will be much more approachable control wise. I really like the 3rd person view, especially the way you can strafe while shooting, as opposed to the Resident Evil games.

:lol :lol :lol :lol

That was unbefuckinglievable.

Words do absolutely no justice in describing the awesomeness of that video. New gameplay with Gekkos in live-action while Snake is sporting Altair's costume on April Fool's Day? Man, only Kojima could do some shit like this. :lol

Honestly, I was skeptical earlier about whether or not we would actually be able to fight the Gekkos during gameplay because we haven't seen them yet... but this... this... Man, their integration into the gameplay is just amazingly better than I ever thought it would be.

I'm gonna tell you, if that video doesn't get the blood pumping of any new comer, fan, hardcore fan, etc. Then they really need to reevaluate their tastes in terms of video games. That was 5 minutes and 17 seconds of pure sex. Best April Fool's Day E.V.E.R.

Thread needs title change to reflect systemic abuse of very annoying meme. And no, I ain't gonna say it.

Video is great, btw.
You thought I was going to say it, didn't you?

The seamless switch from real-time cutscenes into gameplay was awesome.

And then the Gekkos came. And the way the fight moves from one point in the streets to the next without any loading or technical hiccups blew my mind.

It seriously looks like you'd think house-to-house fighting in the middle east would look, except with robots :lol

I've seen it way too many times and it still amazes me, it's been said several times, but this is indeed the best April Fools ever!!!! A big thanks to KP!

Best transition from cutscenes to gameplay ever
...and no I don't guess motherfuckers

Bioshock's opening was pretty astounding in that regard. I'd also like to point to HL's transitions. ;)
