Assassin's Solid (NEW METAL GEAR SOLID 4 GAMEPLAY FOOTAGE)

Re: Assassin's Solid

WTF oO That's just wrong
unless it's a Kojima prank, but I dare not enter
is this kind of adverts common at YouTube now?

EDIT: Weird, why can't I find Assassin's Solid under most viewed videos at YouTube? It has had more views in a shorter time frame than most if not all videos on that list. :( Perhaps it's due to slow update?

Maybe I'm nuts, but we don't actually know if Snake really did kill Big Boss do we? For all we know it could have been a decoy being controlled by either the Patriots or Big Boss.

Or maybe I'm just stupid?

Snake not only really killed big boss, but also most of MGS story is based on that.

That makes the MGS4 video even better.

Perhaps so, but I still consider CoH superior to both in that regard. It's not like I'm criticizing MGS4, though; I think its "battlefield atmosphere" is fantastic. I'm just responding to all the hyperbole in here about how it "blows every other battlefield away."

I like how Snake didn't kill anyone, he just blends in while everyone else is doing that.
In that COD4 video that was posted you're killing everything that moves.

That's one thing that's great about MGS I think, you can go through the entire game without personally killing anyone. (safe some bosses)

amazing footage.. love the animations!.. and I'm not guessing! :D

oh and I think Hootie just earned his first Neogaf tagname =)

I know most of MGS's story is based upon that, but this is Kojima we're on about here. It's entirely possible that we've been fooled into thinking Big Boss was really killed. Just because his remains are used for gene therapy experiments doesn't give us 100% proof that the Big Boss we knew in MGS3 really died.

Big Boss is dead and your theory sucks, sorry.

All I'm doing is just stating that this is Kojima we're on about here. So ANYTHING is possible.

And I wouldn't really call it a theory, more of a "what if". Because after playing through all of the MGS games several times, I'm 99% sure he really did die, but I don't think we should count out the possibility of him still being alive just yet.

He was burnt to death by Solid Snake

Is the ring officially gone? Without any kind oh HUD and no map would be the sweetest!

Why should I get banned for my opinion? I know it was pretty stupid to expect Gekkos to be like in the cut-scenes, blowing walls, jumping, ramming after you, but I'm an MGS fanboy so what are you gonna do :/

I got banned for a week, because I said it looked like Okami Wii was gonna have crappy waggle combat.

Still waiting for an apology, NeoGAF.

This is NeoGAF dude.

In the start of the last trailer, didn't Naomi say something like his revival is almost complete? She might have been talking about big boss

o rly i didnt kno that lol

Jesus.

Of course I knew that, I've played through the Metal Gear games countless amounts of times. All I stated was that we shouldn't totally deny the fact that he could still be alive, we simply do not know if Snake killed the REAL Big Boss.

The Patriots could be controlling the whole thing for some unknown reason, we simply don't know yet, and we won't until June 12th.

But is there really a need to bring back Big B? I mean he went from being the ultimate baddie in 1 and 2 to a pawn in 3 and PSP (a change I personally enjoyed).

With BB being personified he's no longer as scary, we actually feel for him.
Do not get me wrong, I'd enjoy being forced kill him off but it would just be a repeat of the final moment with the Boss in MGS3.

That theory is so abstract and based on nothing that it's hardly worth discussing

Is there anywhere where I can get a long, all encompassing, well-written summary of the entire MGS storyline including pictures of characters? I do NOT just want to watch a bunch of youtube videos either.

I have yet to find a good, detailed write-up.

Thanks

Due to the lack of a rumble feature (an important part in Metal Gear Solid titles) from the PlayStation 3 during much of the development, the game had been designed with a new feature: a white "Threat Ring," that visibly vibrates when sound is made nearby.[7] As a series known for extensive use of rumble, when Sony announced the reintroduction of a new DualShock 3, MGS4 was announced as one of the first major games to make use of the force feedback capabilities.[8] Kojima has stated that if the rumble was implemented, he may remove the Threat Ring.

I LIKE IT

I've never really liked the threat ring, I hope they removed it. It just seems in the way for some reason. Maybe I'm being picky.

YES. Though what about SIXSUX gamers?

I agree, there is no logic to having HUD like data being in the actual 3D world.
Kojima did say that if Sony brought back the rumble he'd consider removing the ring. I hope they at the least make it optional.

I just have a hard time seeing what rumble got to do with it, isn't sound aldreadydoing what this HUD thingy is about?

Sound radar made sense on the PSP but it's something else to play in front of a TV unless the sound is mono. ^.^

I think it'd be great if there were NO HUD elements, except when you were using the solid eye

I rike it, rike it alot you genius godgamemaker Kojima. Can't wait to fight the gekkos, looks so fuckin intense:D I want to know the truth Kojima, please reveal the truth to me:D

I guess the point is the vibration can tell you where something is, and if you don't have surround sound you can't hear things behind you. So if you only have stereo and a Sixaxis you'd have no way to know if something was behind you unless the filter sound to give a impression of it being behind you.

Hell yeah, HUDs have got to be on the way out now, it's really awful on GT5P, that's the first one thats ever really annoyed me. But I'm hoping it's optional in MGS4.

Can't you turn them off in the cockpit?

Worst HUD ever though is still:

Shit, that TP-HUD-screenshot is awful :/

Make a Youtube video to plead your cause :lol

Also, appreciation goes to Kojima for not showing the usual trailer 95% CG, 4% cut-scene, 1% actual gameplay (in sliding stills). The video was really special.

Excepting Kyle Cooper's work, of course.
Even that was all realtime I think MGS3 (it was interactive for sure) and only bits and pieces of MGS2 intro were CG. For the most part that intro too was composed of game's own cutscenes.

The credits and some of the camouflage overlay is realtime in the snake-eater opening. There really isn't much pre-rendered 3D cg at all in Cooper's work, just snake skeletons and Japanese scrolls and giant game titles and whatnot. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Kojima fan and the Cooper titles--especially for Snake Eater--have been some of the greatest around.

I just pointed it out because I was in a mood to be annoyingly precise, and it saves it from being a retarded comment by some hater later.

BTW: I can't wait to see what that Ad Agency has produced for the MGS4 opening.

This got my friend fired up when I showed him. He loves Assassin's Creed so I think he's gonna get this game now.

Well, if you replay MGS, when Snake drills Colonel Campbell about why the White House won't give Liquid Big Boss' corpse, the Colonel replies with a suspicious "..."

I think Kojima's always planned on bringing him back, but the stage just had to be set perfectly, first.
