Astonishia Story (Is this a fabled KRPG?)

What the heck is this game?
I know it's a PSP port of a GP32 remake of a DOS game.

My brother's currently playing it and I've been looking over his shoulder a while and this game seems kinda fun? The translation's obviously tongue in cheek and a bit 'off' at times, but some events are charming if a bit punishing, and the combat system seems to actually be good.

Unfortunately, we were trying to go back to a previous area but got stuck 'cause there's no online resources anywhere for this game. Like at all. There's a singular GameFAQs guide and a short blurb in a bigger Korean games article in HG101. That's it.

Also while looking up this game it seems everyone hates it for some reason? This game seems inoffensive enough, so what's so bad about it?

I got a Vita in 2015. As somebody who never had a PS1 or a PSP, I immediately began amassing a huge collection of digital titles from those platforms. I have ~70 games between these two platforms that I am playing for the first time.

The thing that stands out to me the most about these games is how poor the online resources are for these games. I grew up on Nintendo games, and you can Google just about any game that appeared on a Nintendo console and find the information you're looking for. You can probably find dozens of results from reddit or GameFAQs of people asking your same question and have it quickly answered by somebody who was having the same problem ten years ago.

But I am playing Alundra right now and, while I have finally found a dedicated walkthrough that is helpful, the documentation is awful. I was trying to find a particular character in Inoa Village (the main hub of the game) and was just Googling where they were located and could not find a basic "go here" text answer anywhere. I tried adjusting my search results and started getting results about Red Dead Redemption. It was crazy because Alundra is a pretty big cult game that people really like. But finding answers to questions like that was really hard.

Before that I played Arc the Lad I + II. Finding a simple answer for a simple question about those games is very difficult. I am slowly finding that many old PS1 + PSP games are just like this. They are not as well documented, they have not been as thoroughly parsed, and things we take for granted (like Googling a simple question) in modern games simply do not apply.

Like, look how brief the Wikipedia article is for Threads of Fate versus something like Baiten Kaidos or Panzer Dragoon Saga.

The documentation just doesn't exist. Even the MSX Metal Gear games are light on the resources. This is certainly expected with old games that were released before the boom of the internet, but I never seem to be truly prepared for how little is out there.
