Atari Flashbacks coming to PS4 and Xbox One this October

A shame what they did to Jeff Minter, I might have considered getting these, supporting preservation of gaming's history and whatnot. Oh well.

Damn, was hoping it'd be all the games from the power pack.

Would love it if the Activision Anthology game for PS2 was playable on PS4.

Loved all the games on there (Kaboom, River Raid, Pitfall), all the "modes" you could play in (B&W television, having the screen randomly glitch), and the 80's soundtrack that played in the background.

I remember picking that disc up for 2.50 at the retro gaming expo one year.

One of the five best purchases I ever made for my PS2.

That is certainly some slick box art.

I'm still annoyed that they're splitting the collection into two parts, though.

Not sure that there many games in the collection that I'd want to play now but I do like to see these things happening. Will likely download them both on the PS4 at some point. Hopefully other companies will see fit to publish collections like this moving forward, would love to have some 80s arcade collections.

You do have a point, on Steam the entire collection is the same price as one of these volumes. Does this differ from that version other than the beautiful box art?

in case anyone's curious about these.

Giant Bomb did a Quick Look of both volumes.

and now I really wish I had a corndog I could nuke up...

I'm thinking about buying these, I have the Flashback 2, 2+, and 4 Deluxe (because the Deluxe came with paddles), but I rarely feel like hooking them up to play for a few minutes. I really only bought the Flashback 2 in case I ever get the itch to mod a cartridge slot on it.

Atari's games were always a bit generic, although there were some standouts and innovation. ActiVision was the real star on the 2600. Atari had some amazing box art though.

Call me when I can play Stun Runner.
