Atelier Ayesha (PS3) announced. English localization confirmed

Yea I am wishing NISA would continue to publish atleir games in the US. I think they did excellent job, keeping Japanese voice and doing some good collector's editions. I wish the localize term would shorten down to like 6 month, but its not going to happen :(

Well actually, the localization time between the release of Meruru in Japan and its release in USA is shorter than what is was for Totori and Rorona. Though, that might actually be due to GUST not producing another Atelier game after the release of Meruru that allowed them to aid in the localization.

Gust has been improving its 3D modeling work with each Atelier series release. For Atelier Ayesha, in development for PlayStation 3 release this June, Gust's 3D tech promises to be better than ever, with more detail, motion and facial expressions. Gust will even be making the switch to full 3D models for event scenes.

Also mentioned yesterday, the game's battle system has a "cost" element. Depending on the cost of the move you make, your character's turn order will change. The battle system also adds a time element.

One of the concepts for the game is "image change." While Gust believes that it could take the same direction and be well received to an extent, this would do gradual harm to the series. So, they're trying out a different approach. They're hoping to make a pure fantasy Atelier game, and promise to offer a new type of enjoyment.

Awesome!

It will. What Atelier game didn't come out to the west? I own Rorona and Totori.

Off topic but could I skip Rorona and just go into Totori? Rorona's strict deadlines are starting to irk me a bit.

As others have mentioned, Totori has much laxer deadlines and gives the player a lot more freedom compared to Rorona. I'll recommend going for Rorona's pie ending if you are in need of some motivation :)

The Atelier series is probably my largest collection of games I've yet to play :(

I think I need to just sit down and spend some time playing them all.

I like the switch to 3D models for cutscenes. Totori and Meruru show that Gust are probably one of the best (or even the) best companies around when it comes to realizing anime-style character art in 3D, and combined with their pristine IQ there is really no need for the switching between 2D and 3D.

I want to see screenshots and learn more about the battle system, it already sounds more involved than Rorona's or Totori's.

Hidari >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Kishida Mel

I aprove of the change in character designer.
I love Mel's art so I was concerned about the change initially, but this looks really good as well.

Yup, same here. Only game I played in the whole series was Iris 1. Which wasn't too bad. I own nearly every Atelier game that came out in the US though, save the DS one.

Need to get Ar Tonelico 2 and 3 though.

Nothing to do with Ayesha, but... is your avatar Kim Jong Il playing air hockey?

Because if so, that's awesome.
He scored 7 uncontested goals in under 10 seconds, didn't he?

Ayesha you are the girl that I never had and I want to get to know you better

well done.

LOL, Ayesha? Whaaaaaaaattt.

What's next? Atelier Sheneneh?

-__-

your Jo Jo avatar is the only thing keeping me from going back in time and making sure your grandparents never met.

The protagonist IS a 17 year old girl.

Yup. I'm glad about that, and want it to see it happen more often. Even so, I'd love to see a main character that's—gasp—20-something. Oh, and who's not a bumbling upstart.

Part of my comment, though, was that I want older girls AND frilly clothing. Frilly clothing doesn't have to just be a trademark of lolis!

20-something? That's like old-hag territory!

What content? I only got the bad ending so far but I remember nothing wrong in the game. You could have her alchemize alcohol but she never drank anyway so...??

I'm not sure he even knows. There is nothing risque in the Atelier Games to my knowledge. I think it has some adult humor which is easy to miss, but nothing as bad as Neptunia or the Prinny games.

I remember thinking about buying Totori a while back, but watching the trailer immediately turned me against it--ugly fucking costume and that awful running.

I heard that koei tecmo now has GUST, so does that mean this one, if it gets localized to US, will be published by koei tecmo, or NISA?
Koei Tecmo's been handling distribution of some of NISA's games, including the Atelier ones. I actually expect them to keep their current arrangement, Koei Tecmo still benefits directly from the localization and doesn't have to bother with it themselves.

And hey, a 17 year old! Now it'll be somewhat more palatable when/if they skirt certain areas!

I think you meant to ask what console Atelier didn't come out in the west since Atelier Iris 1.

Because we didn't get Lise, Lina, or the PSP ports of Judie and Violet.

Lovely character models, as per usual.

Also, I'd like a playable dude that won't blow away in the slightest breeze. The fact that Gerhard wasn't a party member in Totori still depresses me.

Yes!

Sorry, I'm not the biggest fan of the Arland girls' clothing, but this gal looks much better. I was a tad worried it'd look less modest.

Anyway, first impression is a good one for me. I hope the music turns out great. Bring on some nice "La la" vocals Gust sound team! If I hear good things about the OST I'll probably import it like I did with Totori and Meruru. Meruru had some live trumpets going for its soundtrack which I think may be a first for a standard Gust BGM. Hoping for more live instruments for this game, like say, the violin and/or flute. Good Celtic stuff for the ears. :)

Hmm, now I want to ponder what English VA would fit this girl.

Also, I like that this will be another "search for a missing person" story. Hopefully they'll add clues and hints throughout or something that keeps it a focus. I liked Totori, but I didn't think the game really hit its highest stride until the Mother search became more the focus over just trying to become/stay an adventurer.

I have my hopes up. Hopefully the game is really good, and if it is, I hope NISA gets it here quick with a good localization and lots of english voiced lines.

I don't think Gust has managed to make a battle system that has topped the Mana Khemia games yet. Hopefully they'll have something competent here.

Gee, I'm feeling pretty excited. Time to look up Marina Inoue. I'm not familiar with her.

Edit: OH WOW! Just looked up Marina Inoue. I didn't know she played Kohaku from Tales of Hearts. I thought that was a pretty good performance. This new heroine should sound a lot better than the three prior Arland ones in the J-dub. We'll see. I just didn't like the high-pitched, obviously fake, voices. I should watch the short trailer again now.

Edit 2: In case others are curious about Marina too, here you go: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marina_Inoue

I've had a chance to look at that Dengeki and the screenshots are pretty nice. The in game characters don't look that different from the previous games but the environments look really good.

Jesus jumping rabbit-balls they are pushing these games out as bad as they used to Guitar Hero games. I'll wait and see if they put out an anthology pack or something, if not I just don't have the time for this series anyways.
