Atelier Meruru Limited Edition and Release Date Revealed!

I started the series with Totori and stopped at every barrel for a ~baluluelu~. Highly delightful, but is there a deeper meaning behind it? Some kind of inside joke?
I only know that it's been there since at least Atelier Iris (1). I love it.

Preordered!
Well, to be fair, my gf did.
Totori was (almost) my GOTY, so I'm really looking forward to Meruru. Also looking forward to English voice actors trying to pronounce "Meruru", I sure can't.

I've bought every LE so far and there's no way i'm missing this.

I started with Rorona and there's no explanation given there too. Guess it must be linked to one of their old PS1 games.

I learned the reason a while ago, but I'm not quite sure I remember correctly.

I think it has to do with the creators of the Atelier series thinking it was funny that the standard behavior from an RPG player is to check every box, barrel, vase, etc. for items and that they would put that there as a surprise since they didn't put in items in there.

Then it just became a tradition... or something like that.

That's a pretty cute reason if true ;p

That's true yeah, they've been asked a few times heh

Preordererd, but they should really have added shirt sizes, I doubt this will fit a Hagel sized man anyway

^Seriously. LE T-shirts are the worst, especially since they're typically several times my size. They don't give an option for a shirt cut for women either, so they feel even bulkier.

Huh. Is that why the plat is apparently a little easier from Rorona's from what I've been hearing? I haven't dipped into Totori yet, but a lot of the positive things I've read on GAF and positive answers to my questions make me look forward to playing it.

Rarutos platinum'd it pretty quickly after the NA release, I was pretty surprised.

I don't care for the shirt at all but I'll get the LE anyway... because I'm a sucker.

Only NISA could look at the time of a big release and go "pft, who cares about that." Unless they think a week is enough buffer from Diablo III.

I really doubt Diablo 3 will have any meaningful affect on Atelier Meruru's sales.

Barrel shirt is hilarious. Size large only is fail though. I'm a skinny guy and small or medium works whie anything larger looks terrible. Still, thats a nice LE!

Admittedly you're probably right, more likely it has a larger impact on how many actually play it right away or not.
The first video-game reference t-shirt I'd be willing to wear outside.
I have to admit it's something of a surprise there. I figured it'd be more likely they'd go for Atelier art and THAT isn't something I'd want to wear outside, but barrel'd just seem like a weird funny shirt except to a few people who know (well, guess it'd STILL be a weird funny shirt, just one they get). I still probably wouldn't go outside with it on though.

Hmm, that's not really why the Platinum is easier per se. They just made it a lot easier with the way they handle the relationship points compared to Rorona. This makes it really, really easy to control which endings you get (especially since there's no more Trust system). Also, since the trophies are only linked to events CGs rather than also involving things like beating bonus bosses, finding all items and monsters, etc, that makes it a ton less troublesome as well (though I practically did that anyway before I got my Platinum).

They kind of make up for not having those particular trophies just because some endings do require max Alchemy and Adventurer level and whatnot though.

I would have gotten it faster too, if it wasn't for the NISA shipping delay! >\

To be exact, it's been in the series since the first game! Atelier Marie. I have confirmed this myself!

Why does every bonus shirt assumes the customer is a fat otaku? I can never wear those shirts!
I assume it's better too large than too small... They probably only have one size to simplify packaging and whatnot. They are a small company, after all. At least it's not an XL like some other t-shirt bonuses...

I personally won't wear the shirt myself either, and will just keep it in my drawer for safe keeping.

At first I wasn't sure if I wanted to pay the UK shipping fees again after Neptunia. Then I saw the barrel t-shirt.
I still want it even if the damn thing won't fit me properly.

1) L is the most common, average size.
2) most of us fit the description even if not all of us fit it 100%
3) people like myself are just big in general, even before I was overweight (thanks college/marriage!) I wore XL with barely room to not be tight.

Don't get me started on a call center ordering shirts for the staff and having far fewer XL, XXL and even XXXL than needed.

Will it be "Large" or one of those "It says Large but it's really a Tent" cases?

never wearing it anyway

Whenever I get gaming shirts, I just wear them at home.

Nice and very comfortable for smaller people. Great for just lazing around the home. So if it's too big for some of us, we can still have some use for it.

I feel bad for bigger people for whom none of these shirts fit. They have no use for it and are left out. :(

And like others have said, I don't think L is particularly huge for men. I've bought shirts for men and fairly regular sized men wear L. M seems to be small, and I don't know of any adult male who wears S.

But I'm in Canada and all the men up here are big and burly lumberjacks.

I know from manning tables at conventions that L is by far the most "catch all" size and was our most requested. But lately "L" as far as American sizes go can sometimes mean "XL" with some companies. 9_9

I'm an "L" guy, so I'm wearing this! :D

So is the shirt the exclusive, or the whole LE?

Normally the NISA store stuff is one additional thing on top of the LE

Cause I've got a bunch of gamestop credit I need to spend, and I'm broke right now.

Their last release, the LE was NISA store exclusive I think. Neptunia mk2 LE wasn't available in stores as far as I know.

I really wish the collectors edition was on Amazon.

Now to decide whether to get the normal edition from Amazon or the collectors edition from NISA.

Yeah, they shouldn't assume all their customers are fat Otaku. I'm in pretty good shape! (/ignores otaku part)

That's interesting to know, thanks.

I've decided to play this game solely based on the results of my research into what the hell this Barrel thing was about.
Well, that's as good a reason as any! I decided to play Corpse Party based solely on the "butter up my pooper" scene and never regretted it in the least.

Must have!!

About the Tshirts, yeah smaller sizes would be nice. Though the Catherine shirt was awesome, it fitted me just the same way as it fitted Catherine in the game. Way oversized, it's almost a dress to me.

I am thinking of ordering LE from NISA site, since there was no tax and USPS standard shipping was free.

Does anyone know how long it takes for free standard shipping? or does it depend on which state I live?

To be honest, they usually wind up sending the standard shipping as priority shipping anyway.

All of the times I've picked standard, they sent it priority.

I just picked up Atelier Rorona, which was buried under a bunch of old games at Toys R Us today for $7.99. How is the story in the Atelier games? This would be my first Atelier game ever if I decide to open it and play rather than return it. Should I open it???? Help convince me Atelier GAF!

it really depends if they have some sort of shipping delay. My history with Nis
Neptunia 1: warehouse lost power or flooded or something so they didn't ship it until a week late (effected everyone)
Disgaea 4: got almost a week early as they ship it when they have it avalible.
Totori: got it around release date... a day after I think.
Neptunia 2: got it the saturday after it released... they had issues with their company that was printing the game for them.

in general they are pretty good, and either way I view it this way. Going through the nis store gives Nis a larger cut of your money and helps support them more than going through amazon.

Usually after they ship it's 2-3 business days though as they ship it first class (or at least have for me) people on the west coast tend to get it faster.

Story isn't really the main focus on these games. It's more about character interaction than anything else. If anything, it's a charming and silly story with very little "epicness" going on. You don't save the world in this game, you just try to accomplish the main character's main goal!
