Video here.

Police in Aurora, Colorado, got a call about a man pulling a gun on a kid. They had no description of the suspect. On their way to the scene, they stopped two Black men walking down the sidewalk.

Darsean Kelley, one of the men, followed the officers’ orders to hold his hands above his head and turn around. His repeated requests for an explanation as to why they had been detained went unanswered. Even though it was clear he had no weapons and he was no threat to the officers, Darsean was tased in the back just as he said, “I know my rights.” Darsean fell backwards and hit his head on the pavement.

The officers had no reason to detain them. They had done nothing wrong. When Darsean asked to talk to the officer’s boss, noting that there were witnesses to the tasing, the officer responded, “Hey, look right here. It’s all on video, sweetheart.”

Darsean was arrested and charged with “disorderly conduct.” The ACLU represented Darsean, and the prosecutor dropped the charges.

We all have the Fourth Amendment right to be free from excessive and unreasonable force by the police. No one should be punished for knowing and asserting their rights.

Fucking disgusting.

"It's all on video sweetheart" - Words from a pig that knows even video evidence isn't enough to get him in trouble.

It's ridiculous how something like "my god a black man, arrest him Jim. Mary mother of Joseph, plant a gun on him" Which would have been a joke in a comedy skit is now a sad reality.

"It's all on video, sweetheart."

Wow, you can tell how sympathetic this cop truly is. He just wants the best for his community! Tasering someone for doing nothing. What a hero.

The cop knew that he had no right to be detaining him, so in order to "win", they went ahead and tased him to let him know his place. Disgusting. Does anyone know if cops have their own gang sign yet? They might as well at this point.

"It's all on video sweetheart"

"Are you going to turn that camera off while you plant something on me?"

I guess the video shows him being black though, so there's that.

That's a good point. I guess he should've known his place and be quiet.

He also should learn to follow instructions better. Having his hands in the air and his back to the cops isn't enough nowadays, he should learn how to fall properly when being tased too.

Nah it's worse than that. The cop genuinely believes that talking back to a police officer is wrongdoing.

Think about all the people in situations like this who don't get the ACLU to represent them. Stuck with a criminal record forever for no reason, then spends the rest of his life blamed for not succeeding more because of his laziness or attitude while no one notices the cops who started the whole downward spiral for them.

Whenever I see incidents like this where a black man is reprimanded, assaulted, and arrested for just talking back once, I just think about how it looks like modern slavery and being treated like less than a full human.

So can they use "its all on video sweetheart" to press charges against the cop for breaching the victim's 4th amendment rights?

You only viable option is to smile and nod and submit and hope the police kind enough to let you go on your way.

Talk back? Resisting. Obstruction.

Ask questions? That's just talking back, see above...

After all the reports of Cops indiscriminately killing minority civilians, this is sad that a report like this is somewhat refreshing (No deaths I mean).

Sigh....

Wtf so much is wrong with these bonkers and racist cops.

They are a disgrace and put a bad light on all the other cops who put daily their lives on the line to protect people.

Good satire is based on real world events. This has been happening forever, what has people upset is how little has changed.

So many people instantly judging the cop. Honestly, if you're not a cop, you have no idea the amount of stress that comes with the job. Your life is constantly threatened, even in what could seem like a simple interaction with the public. The situation here might look one way in this film, but you really don't get the true understanding of how the cop was really in fear for his own safety, and the safety of others around them.

This is one of the most irritating things about it. There are loads of good cops, in fact the majority of cops are the good ones. But these idiots are making people form a general opinion that all cops racially profile black people. Why are the good ones not speaking out against these assholes? #notallcops surely?

Sarcasm?

Think about this: who told you that's what a cop does? The cops and the government who employs them? Really think about why this is an idea in your mind, who put it there, and why.

Noone is saying being a cop isn't stressful but when someone is asking what he is being detained for with his back to you and his arms in the air, there is no need for a taser. Just give him a fucking answer, how hard is it to say "We had a report of a man matching your description pulling a gun on a kid" is there something wrong with that?

Well this can't be real. Right?

What does this have to do with the bullshit charges put on the man after this incident? Are you paying attention?

Yep. 40 years from now the epic story of Tim Wise putting an end to all of this will be Oscar bait and making white people cry from coast to coast.

A black man, with his back turn, and hands up is a threat?

And here is the tipping point of this thread.

He needs to see it from the cop's perspective. Like meet him half way and try to understand that cops are people and make mistakes. He's probably under so much stress and made a simple mistake. Instead of demonizing this officer, we should show him love and that he has our support. Or at the very least those two men should take the time to educate that officer on why what he did wasn't the best course of action.

Besides, why were they walking down the street at night?!

This is an isolated bad apple.
