You can always just read the Marquis. This stuff is awesome, and sick porn is okay if there aren't pictures.

"That same evening, Michette, after having eaten a big supper, is hung head downward until she vas vomited everything upon Curval, who stands frigging himself beneath her and eating the manna that descends from on high."

that's almost better than 2 girls 1 cup.

nice to see jaydubya in true form.

bububububu... Kevin Ruddd...

Anyway, I think this is a great idea. Not only will this help cleanse the hugely perverted society in which we live in , but it will also mean I'll get faster access to the internet since less people will be on it downloading porn.
Its a win-win situation.

from what people are saying, speeds are capped anyway, so even if the dingo next door isn't downloading lolli dingo rape porn, you'll still be limited to speed.

My Download speeds are uncapped and the overall speed of my internets is dependent on how busy the exchange in my area is.
Less people downloading questionable material = more bandwidth for my legitimate use of the intenet;

A few questions go begging with this report:

1. It implies that ISPs will have to provide porn/violence-free Internets, which will be a massive cost to the ISP. Who's going to pay for it? Is the cost being passed to customers? Because I'm definitely not paying.

2. What will be considered "too violent" or "pornographic"? Does this mean no Youtube?

3. Can we have Helen Coonan back? She's been owned enough times with online legislation to have the good sense to STFU.

The democratic process is yet to weave it's magic on these 'plans'.

This also is probably the 3rd time I've heard of such plans being implemented, The House/Senate knocking them down previously. Even if it gets through the House there's no chance of it getting through the now left-heavy senate.

Uh I hope this isn't their idea of "21st century broadband."

I don't think ISPs should have any control over what I access, at ALL

On a unrelated note, are you all posting here because you're losers like me doing nothing on NYE?

Yes. :lol . Hell it's not even 10pm and i'm about to fall asleep.

Back on topic, this is sad, no more porn for me :( .

you guys better escape australia

Dude, I only just escaped New Zealand.

edit: oh, and now is when you can start flaming us sad fuckers who are posting on neogaf at 9:45pm NYE.

Don't go getting ideas new zealand. DONT DO IT HELEN.

This policy, as described, will never see the light of day. That's for a number of reasons.

You might be able to access an optional filter, i.e. an opt-in concept, but there won't be any mass porn filtering by default. I'd expect stricter controls on school access on the other hand, which I have no problem with.

Where do you live Lobster? We should totally have a Sydney GAF meetup one time.

Paramatta City. Would be pretty cool to meet at one of those Aussie gaming tours.

So first GAF mods ban Australia from GAF and now Australia bans itself from teh internets?

:lol

:lol

Pretty much.

Hasn't Australia tried this before, but it failed?

That was optional, this is forced onto you which you then have to remove. I assume if you can't contact your ISP by the internet then its gonna be hell trying to remove this thing. Phone connections will be...well bad.

Pretty much. I've been playing TF2 all night. :lol I don't give a shit about some shitty fireworks over the harbour bridge. Whoopdy-frikken- doo. Oh wait 2 minutes left till 2008! Yay!

This is what you get for voting a religious nut over a conservative nut. Though I guess it makes it easier for parents to do jack shit again and won't get bypassed again like Howard's shit.

Also this is not the end of porn it's just that the 'governments\ISP' known who likes porn on the internets. This will be optional shit and ISP will pass it onto the consumer and shit.

This won't get passed in the senate no way in hell.... I hope.

When are they going to change there party name to the Australia's Right Wing Christian Party these people are wolves in sheep's clothing i tell ya

"We will work with the industry to get the best policy"

Hopefully the ISP's tell labor to GTFO and actually put them straight on the matter.

Providing a service and forcing ideals of what is "clean" or not are not the same things. If people want a cleaner Internet then give them the options to do so. Do not force it upon them.

This sounds way beyond child porn sites which ISP's and enforcement should have been watching already.

Conroy announces mandatory internet filters to protect children

Telecommunications Minister Stephen Conroy says new measures are being put in place to provide greater protection to children from online pornography and violent websites.

Senator Conroy says it will be mandatory for all internet service providers to provide clean feeds, or ISP filtering, to houses and schools that are free of pornography and inappropriate material.

Online civil libertarians have warned the freedom of the internet is at stake, but Senator Conroy says that is nonsense.

He says the scheme will better protect children from pornography and violent websites.

"Labor makes no apologies to those that argue that any regulation of the internet is like going down the Chinese road," he said.

"If people equate freedom of speech with watching child pornography, then the Rudd-Labor Government is going to disagree."

Senator Conroy says anyone wanting uncensored access to the internet will have to opt out of the service.

He says the Government will work with the industry to ensure the filters do not affect the speed of the internet.

"There are people who are going to make all sorts of statements about the impact on the [internet] speed," he said.

"The internet hasn't ground to a halt in the UK, it hasn't ground to a halt in Scandinavian countries and it's not grinding the internet to a halt in Europe.

"But that is why we are engaged constructively with the sector, engaging in trials to find a way to implement this in the best possible way and to work with the sector."

The only time Australia is mentioned on gaf its something fucked up.

Is gaf anti-Australia?

Or is Australia anti-gaf?
at one point all of australia was banned from gaf...seriously.

it's because of australia that neogaf even exists

i live in the uk and it still surprises me how many of my fellow brits are desperate to move to this country. seriously whats the attraction ?

I'm with Internode, the guys there will be :lol .
I sure hope so. In any case I will feel absolutely no shame in ringing them and asking them to "switch my porn back on".

How about this. If you can't keep your kids away from porn yourself, you don't deserve access to the internet in the first place. This is the most mindblowingly fucked up thing I've ever heard. It's the parent's responsibility to monitor the content their kids can access, not the government's.

Cracked in 10 minutes by some 17 year old on his PC.

I wonder how long the new plan will lost.

It's a nice idea for families. Should be an optional service, however. For example, the government can mandate that each ISP have a "clean feed" which subscribers then have to explicitly purchase, which many families with young children would probably like to do. The way they're going about it is wrong imo, though the idea is fine in principle so long as those who desire access to content can have it.

Even a broken clock tells the correct time twice a day.*

And I don't know if that cliched phrase really works in this situation, but I'm going to pretend that I'm confident that it does. It seems like it would, so whatever.

*Unless it's a digital clock, in which case it doesn't tell any time.

Funny, that - about 60% of the staff in my office are from the UK doing desperately silly things like flying to New Zealand so they can be deemed to have left the country (and therefore come back on a new Visa) or moving out to a remote area for 3 months to pick apples, which qualifies you to extend your Visa by an additional year.

The girls with a slight northern accent are cute as hell when they start swearing like sailors ("thet's joost fooken roobesh"), but most of the blokes are lanky, pasty-faced whingers who burn up real quick under the sun.

They watch Neighbours too often. They're seduced by the blue skies and attractive folks of Erinsborough. Then you get there, and it's all gray skies and no internet porn. Life comes at you fast.
