Same with me.

"James Cameron is making AVATAR"

me:Who's James Cameron?

"The guy that did Titanic"

Me: "What, who is that, and how's that guarantee him to do a good sci-fi movie?"

"He also made Terminator..."

Me: "WHAT? No frakking way!"

" Yep..."

Me:"wow"

"he also did Aliens"

Me: "WTF,how come I didn't know this?!"
Seriously? How old are you people?? Which planet are you from???

Oh wow, I didn't notice it could be changed. :lol Very cool.

The video size in a 24" monitor is right on the edge of my "eye uncrossing" ability. A bit larger and I wouldn't be able to watch (without training a lot more).

All we need is the trailer now!! :D

It's a bit tiring to watch with wall/crossed eyes though. I'll make the effort for Avatar. :)

OMG SO AWESOME! Dude, just try the cross-eyed or parallel views!!!!!

I want the Avatar trailer like this on youtube!!

Parallel view (i take it it's the opposite of the cross-eyed view. i can't cross my eyes easily) works perfect for me!!!!

What. Crossing my eyes doesn't do anything for me. And it hurts.

If footage leaks from tomorrow I can tell you now I'm not going to watch it. They're showing 20 mins worth of scenes and I for one will not spoil the movie for myself, especially when its pirated 3D which will look like overlapping pieces of vomit.

I will be sure tu plaster pictures and animated gifs all over neogaf for your viewing pleasure.

I wonder if theres a way to shoot an HD video. During editing, zoom into the video and use some coordinates to make it 3d.

Someone with more know how let me know if this is possible.

Wait, what. You can do some basic 3D without glasses? I'm not able to cross my eyes (I automatically blur when I stare too long).

Try the parallel view. I can't cross my eyes at will either. I can try to force it by focusing on something (a finger for example) between my eyes and the screen but as soon as the object I'm focusing on goes away, I focus on the screen again. Parallel view is looking at the screen but focusing on the distance. If you can see any stereogram of this kind, you can see this.

Oh btw, PAUSE THE VIDEO WHILE FOCUSING and then continue the playback. Much easier.

I take it you're not using the colored glasses view. :D

Google for "stereogram" and try to go through some tutorial. If you can see stereograms you can see this, either in cross-eye or parallel view.

Edit: Wollan, try zooming out on the webpage, ctrl+minus on firefox and ie I guess. It's easier for me with smaller pics.

Ok, crossing my eyes is easy for me but I can't do the parallel view. :lol The two pictures come together a bit but not enough to form the 3D one.

Wait.So you're doing it without glasses, by focussing on your finger[for instance] in front of the screen? Doesn't work for me. what's up?

Zoom out on the webpage to make the video smaller, it's MUCH easier (as long as it's not too small to see lol). Stepping a bit away from the screen might help too, but after a distance it doesn't work for me.

I think you might have supervision.

I put on my green/magenta glasses, but the youtube vid looked like SHIT. Is it just me, or do you fail to see the 3D effect as well?

The Hype might kill this before it come out. Seems really ambitious, but I think expectations are to high.

At this point, you have a small group of movie geeks with insane hype, and a vast majority with no clue this movie even exists. It can go either way.

That MIGHT work in cross-eyed view style. I can't keep my eyes crossed once I remove the finger (this sounds bad lol). You can try wall-eyed or parallel view, as youtube calls it, by looking above your monitor at some point further away (focusing on some point at a distance) and then lowering your eyes to the screen without unfocusing from that point.

Anyone who can see stereograms CAN see this, either in cross or parallel style.

I'm fine with crosseyed view. ;) Just wanted to see what this parallel thing is about. :)

Holy crap. It works.

The youtube video however, not as focussed. Doesn't matter, we'll probably get a 3d trailer for avatar in better quality anyway.

Oh c'mon, it will be better than True Lies.

:O True Lies was an awesome movie!

Anyway hopefully some sort of trailer will be released tonight, dunno how you guys can argue about this movie over 4 pages without anything bar some shitty toys to go on.

Cross Eyed 3D is completely amazing. In fact, probably the best 3D you can possibly get from a flat screen, but it does cause significant eye strain, and there's a solid learning curve to even be able to see it in the first place.

But it does look amazing. It's the only way I'll consider looking at an Avatar trailer outside of a 3D theater.

I'll try the parallel view now, that sounds much easier, as it should be just like those jumbled stereograms.

why would anyone wanna make a movie that came out by the end of this year, and show no fucking trailer or anything whatsoever ? this movie is so overhyped.. im expecting my jaw to dropped the floor when i see this.

I'm going into cryogenic sleep. Someone wake me up when the trailer is released (maybe 2014 or thereabouts).

It's called supreme confidence.

Fuck this 3D shit! I've never even been able to see the picture in those "magic eye" posters. It's all bullshit.

yeah so michael behein whats happening with him anyone no if hes in da movie? if he is then thje mvie is like a billion times better

kind of iffy about three d movies, the one I've seen so far have been a little annoying. All 3ds done is distract you from the story.

From IMDB's trivia section on Avatar:

Michael Biehn was considered for the role of Col. Quaritch. He met with James Cameron three times and saw some of the 3D footage, but in the end it simply came down to the fact that Cameron didn't want people thinking it was Aliens (1986) all over again, as Sigourney Weaver had already been cast.

4h26m if i'm not mistaken. (until it starts, right?)

Hmmm... if 2 or 3 hours later there's a trailer online I'll count myself lucky. Most likely it'll come up while I'm asleep.

I have small question if all the tv's other than one with 120hz can't support 3d it will hard to sell this movie on bluray since the main attraction of this movie is 3d. Regardless I will be there day one for it.

I don't really think so.
Some friends of mine just watched Coraline on DVD with the 3D glasses and were all pretty impressed. I think they watched it on a ghetto tv too.
