Exactly like I said: "at least in the mind of many parts of the Internet".
EDIT: My point still stands though. Many people (those who are aware of the movie and the hype surrounding it) will go into the theater, expecting it to be groundbreaking and revolutionising. Like another posted mentioned on another forum:
"The technology side alone excites me. Cameron has been sharing his new tech with Jackson and Spielberg so hopefully motion capture in general will benefit. I'm a sucker for space and new planets so even if the film doesn't live up to the hype, I don't see how it can since this film is supposed to revolutionize 3D film making with films being broken down into 'before Avatar' and 'after Avatar'. Please, that's hubris to say the least. If Avatar has a nemesis it is the extreme hype Cameron and others have built around it. Building that kind of hype and not delivering will cause backlash in proportion to the hype."
Pretty much my sentiments. I'm also extremely eager to see it.
