Avengers game "will come" when Marvel finds the right developer

“The Avengers game will come when we have the right partner, that has the right vision, that has the time to develop a strong, competitive triple-A title and wants to do it right,” he told IGN. “It has to hit our three pillars: Fun and engaging gameplay, true to the characters, compelling story. Without hitting those notes, we shouldn’t do it. Gamers, they know better. They’re not going to flock to something that’s sub-par.”

“I think the fact that there wasn’t an Avengers game turned out in time for the film is indicative of Marvel’s new attitude and the approach to how we find partners and build games. I think in the heyday of the movie licensed game, these games were popping out all the time and most of them sucked.”

License to Activision if old.

I do wonder who the hell could make this though. Who are the guys that did Marvel Ultimate Alliance? What are they doing? Also, is there any developer that excels at making 4 player co-op games?

It's a good attitude to have, but time will tell if they can actually pull it off.

Would love a Punisher/Widow/Hawkeye game though. A hilariously depressing buddy comedy spy-fi game where occasionally Frank rolls through and decimates the criminal population.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance was pretty cool and compelling. With a ton of fan service. Yet I never see it spoken about.

Partner with Nintendo and base it off the Pikmin engine. Just Captain America running around literally throwing superheroes at problems

I MISS THE SHOUTING.

:-(

I'm glad that they want to maintain a sense of quality for this title. Very much looking forward to seeing how they'll approach this.

What did people think of that first-person Avengers concept? That looked fun to me. If it was well-liked, I think they should try it again.

I like their attitude... whenever it does show up, I hope it's good

I'm thinkingMission based gameplay, with different heroes tackling levels in different ways.

Well that was fun. To reiterate my earlier post, video games seem like a good avenue for lesser characters, similar to what they are doing with TV shows. I still think its weird that they don't just buy a studio or set up one of their own.

Three pillars. I like that.

Basically they're saying they don't like the idea of quick, cheap, forgettable cash grabs. Iiiiiiiii like it.

If their first game is quality and does really well, they might. I think they want to mitigate their risk the first time around

If we get this, I hope it isn't connected to the movie franchise. I'd rather it be comic related so they could use Spider Man and X-men and such.

I know they wouldn't do that though. Gonna have to settle with tactical gear Hawkeye with the shades...

As long as there's a team combo attack where I can shoot an arrow as Hawkbro with Ant-Man attached to it, I'm game.
Or a move where Cap lifts Mjolnir near a downed Thor. Dammit, the possibilities.

A fighter would be really cool. I miss the days when it'd have been a possibility :P

"true to the characters"

Depending on marvel's meaning with that, it could inherently rule out games where Hawkeye can go toe to toe with Hulk.

And "compelling story" rules out Capcom

Wait a minute, are they specifically talking about a game based on the film, because there was Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth, that came out in 2012.

Capcom. All the best Marvel games have come from them.

War of the Gems style game / stylish action game.

Wow, hope they find the right developer.

Thank you, blessed Kev.
I hate yelling
.

Im sure they see how successful the Batman games have been and want a piece of the action. Marvel games have been straight up bargin bin Material.
