Awesome fighting game character designs

So I was playing power stone a few minutes ago, I was Jack and having a blast. But I realized that Jack was a pretty cool design in the game. It's not everyday that you encounter a person entirely covered head to toe in bandages except for an eye showing and wearing a popped collar jacket. But it wasn't just his design that I liked, but how his movement, of how he crawled on all fours like a spider, to his fighting style that is madcap and crazy. These are the qualities I love about Jack. What a cool crazy dude, also his power form is op as fuck.

Anyways, I wanna know what character designs you like in fighting games? And why?

Pretty much any of the designs from Capcom's CPS2 era fighters. Even the ones that were from licensed games created variation's on the character's designs that are some of my favorites. But, speaking purely of fighting game characters

Sol Badguy (plus his name is just badass)

I have to admit, I do love Sol Badguy. And his name is kinda ironic considering he is basically the hero.

Voldo have some bandages and a similar moveset

Grant Danasty from the Castlevania fighting game is praticaly a mix of both

If you want unique fighting game character, go with Poison

Lack of representation do wonders to uniquesness in fighting game characters xD

For awesome character designs I go with Akira

Because a totaly enclosed biker GIRL is a rare thing to be seen,

Makoto because baggy and pratical clothing is even more rare and

Duck Hunt, because of how genious is to translate that game as a THREE character combo. Yes. 3, because there is the unseen player with a gun

Kokonoe

A mad (mad as in angry) scientist on a segway who uses only mechanical gadgets to fight despite being in a world of magical artifacts and having the genes of the strongest creature in the world and the strongest magic-user. Her gameplay revolves around sticking magnets on the field to make her projectiles fly around the screen.

Even has an awesome figure that I just had to preorder.
Amazing craftsmanship on that Elphelt figurine

KI has some incredible designs, i personally love Cinder, the added armor and skull makes him look more intimidating and its a joy to see him in motion.

Off top of my head

Skullomania SFEX, Akira - Rival Schools
Kilik, Cervantes, Zasalamel - Soul Caliber
Akuma, Cammy, Dudley, Q, Yun/Yang - SF
King - Tekken
Hanzo - Samurai Showdown
Shadow Jago, Hisako - Killer Instinct
Sol, Dizzy, Jam - GG
Sub-Zero - MK

Vanessa (King of Fighters)
Rare example of a middle aged woman in fighting games. Plus, red hair. :)

You stole my first thought!!

I love Vanessa, such a shame she is ignored by SNK. I bet her KOF 13 sprite would have been badass.

Genjuro from Samurai Shodown. He somehow makes long and flowing pink hair look pretty badass (although it's kinda red in this pic).

You tell'em, buddy!

OP, thank you for bringing up Jack. Amazing design. I liked the design in Power Stone overall, but I think he is the best character design for sure.

I will put forth Xianghua from Soul Calibur. I know she is somewhat traditional, but her design is so elegant and graceful... a lot of that comes down to her animation, but that plays directly into the overall design to me. She just feels right.

Duck King. Snk games have generally centered on super serious characters with bad ass revenge arcs i,e. Samuria Showdown = super serious bad ass Samuria KoF super serious fighters etc. Duck Kings not just a nod to rave culture, but also a rare example of a great designer having some fun. Still the best Fatal Fury character IMHO

Bulleta Dark Stalkers has never taken character design seriously it has always been a series with a wink and twist, but Bulleta is probably the best example of the series treads on humor. Not only has the sweet little girl from the fairy tale become a complete beast, but she reworked the charge mechanics of the Guile character into something more elegant and comb-able

Arakune fighting games are all about reads, so when Blaz Blue introduced a violent pool of goo it surprised people. Arakune'/ mobility, invisibility, and consistently counter-intuitive move sets take some getting used to, but provide a range of actions that can be harder to read than most and that is well reflected in his charzcter design.

Last Blade 2. Nearly the whole god damn cast.
Moriya is an improved, (marginally) less edgelordy Genjuro. Washizuka is Hajime Saito perfected. Kagami is one of best conversions of a boss into a playable character ive ever seen. Then you've still got mukuro, shigen, setsuna, Lee, zantetsu and Hibiki. Every single god damn one memorable.

Kinda ironic that Kaede is the least memorable character in the cast.

Also got a massive soft spot for Samsho's Jubei and Haohmaru. And Hanzo. And Galford. And Charlotte. And Gen-an.

Gods SNK design was ridiculously good for a while.

I partially got my username from this guy. He works well partially because of his juxtaposition with his rival, Ky, both in terms of personality, color scheme, and general design:

Came in for Vanessa and Akira (Rival Schools, but Virtua Fighter is cool too). Both some of my favorite designs ever. So good.

A design I have no hope Capcom will use, but I'll keep wishing anyway. Concept Rufus

Hibiki Takane from Last Blade

Venom from Guilty Gear. Homosexual iirc, dark skinned, named after a first wave black metal band. You just don't see characters like this often.
