This would be perfect if Natal could still scan items.

Scan a 100 dollar bill and the stripper falls in love with you
Scan Canadian money and she laughs
When I read Pole Stripper, I imagined a game like these exdcercise games except teaching ladies how to pole dance.

Girls get a kick out of pretending to be a stripper if there's a pole in the house. And better still, more reason to hand over the "controls" to your ladies.

(INSERT SQUAD BASED SHOOTER HERE) controlled with normal control but with hand signals for squad commands for when you need to plan silently.

Yeah, because that function wouldn't be more efficiently served by a button. Might as well add the 'make grenade throwing motion for grenades' argument as well while you're at it.

It would be very inconvenient if you have to stand up frequently for hand signals.

Kinect Desert Bus. You get one achievement point for each successful trip.

Then no other games will have any chance ever to be #1 on weekly activity charts.

Sure. But it would be kind of cool and more immersive.

It's like current games that have voice commands. Sure, buttons are more dependable, but voice commands are kind of cool.

*eyeroll* I'm pretty sure they'll manage to figure out this sitting down issue by the time the thing releases.

Many ideas I had were obvious or already taken (fighting game, volley-ball, fitness, Black & White...).

But I'll add a few ideas :

- juggling game.
Learn to juggle with 3, 5 , 17 balls, bowling kins, torches, chainsaws,...

- "Chronicle of Riddick 2"
more a game mechanic than a game itself, but you could use your gestures to control a character with a very perceptible latency, where you could see the "ghost" of the motion before it is effected (like in the movie). It could make action sequences more strategic, and less speed-based.

- bird simulator
it may sound silly, but I would love to "play" an eagle slowly drifting in the air, flapping my wings from time to time, and diving from great heights to catch a rabbit or just make cool trajectories. :)

*edit : the first time I heard of "living statues", I thought it would be a "non-motion game", where you would have to stay motionless in a given position. It could be amusing too...

Didn't we have a thread like this a few weeks back? Somebody suggested a survival horror game where you play as a character in a wheelchair. I thought that was an awesome idea. You would control movement with your hands and would be able to interact with the world just as you "normally would" (without any feeback, of course).

Bonus point if they ship the game with a plastic orange wheelchair.

I thought Kinect didn't work while seated.

That Milo game as just smokes and mirrors to me. But character simulation on that level would be prety cool in an rpg. Although talking out loud to your self would be pretty awkward at first. And of course it'd have to be someone like Cortana rather then some children's character let alone an actually kid.
On that point, who at lionhead thought having an adult interact with a virtual kid was a good idea?

Wow

Just wow.

It just occured to me what microsoft needs for Kinect to be the new Wii. I can't believe it was so simple and hasnt been heavily exploited yet.

Microsoft wants to market this to kids and adults. They want them to have wholesome family fun. What is more (supposedly) wholesome and full of lucrative family values like
The Bible

it's also not without precedent,
the bible game
was released on the ps2 and original xbox, and just read the description of the game.

The Bible Game for PlayStation 2 casts players as contestants on a game show with fast-paced, "beat the buzzer" action and a comical off-screen announcer as emcee. 20 mini- and micro-games with 1,500 questions reinforce inspirational Old Testament teachings such as Jonah and the Whale, David and Goliath, The Tower of Babel, and many more. Multiplayer mode for up to 4 players encourages family members of all ages to play together, and provides a fun alternative for family game nights. [Crave]

They can thank me later

There was a similar thread here. I'll just copy and paste my Ghost Hunting game idea from there:

In a world where the existence of ghosts has become a fact, activity is much more prevalent. Particularly poltergeist activity. As such, ghost hunting teams entering haunted places use a robot of sorts with lots of equipment and a camera to avoid being physically hurt. You are controlling this robot. You are literally in the position of the ghost hunter, and the ghosts know that you're watching. That makes the TV, for the ghosts, a windows into your room. They can see you, look directly at you and they're trying to scare you, the player, not a random game character. They might say things like "Come closer" with the game requiring you to actually move your head close to the TV (in preparation for a big scare, no doubt) -- the ghosts are directly interacting with you, a bit like a kind of Milo of the Dead.

But aside from directly interacting with ghosts, there will be the hunting element too. The robot will be equipped with things like thermal view. You'll have to take pictures, and possibly defend from ghosts throwing things by turning on a torch or something. You'll have to actually say out loud things like "Is there anyone here?", "Knock once for yes and twice for no". Then find the knocks to find the ghost. Moving the robot could be done by holding your hands like a wheel as seen in Joy Ride and Forza, or it could be done by moving a foot forward to move, and tilting your head to control the direction. It could even be done with a 360 controller, with everything else using Kinect. You'll control the robots tools with a cool Minority Report style interface, like the one seen in the Ubisoft fitness game.

:lol nice.

I was being serious. Of course, the idea came out before the whole "can't play sitting" debacle, but! Microsoft has gone on record saying that kinect works while sitting if the game is designed to support it.

So, IF kinect can recognize hand gestures while sitting (to control the UI), I can't see why it wouldn't be able to pick the "hand-wheel" motion.

Honestly, if they came up with a game like that, I can finally see myself investing in the thing.

[edit]: thanks to InaudibleWhispa for the link. here

Menu-based RPG with Kinect style gestures to maneuver the interface...

Though I couldn't imagine standing up for 50 hours :P

A number of Gaffers, myself included, are underwhelmed by the Kinect titles we have seen so far. Let's spice things up and give the devs some ideas!

My idea:

Virtual Third Base Coach. This game would be super fun! For reals!

Let's hear some awesome ones, GAF!

EDIT - Virtual Catcher could be really cool too. Flashing down signs, talking shit to the batters, etc.

"Your wife is quite the dancer"

You have pretty good ideas actually, there should be a collection of minigames where you act like some kind of professional (landing planes on a runway, matador, crossing guard)!!!! Oh man that would be great, Crazy Crossing Guard by SEGA.

:lol Yeah, kinda like that episode of King of Queens where Doug put the pole up in his bedroom and Carrie was taking "erotic dancing" classes (but she sucked at it).

I saw this Exotic Dance Workout infomercial the other day and thought about getting it for my gf as a gift just to see how she would react and if it would be cool. How could you decorate or hide a pole when guests are over though. The video is crazy, and I'm surprised it was on the air. Reminds me of that arm shake hand job machine hah.

This isn't the exact commercial but it's seem to be the same company. The commercial was kinda pushing the hot level to a cinemax midnight movie level.

I think one where you're a guy that dresses in a silly costume and waves at cars as they go by, would be so awesome.

Though, I'm personally waiting for the Simon Says game announcement.

Kinectimals with snakes. Scan in little plush rodents to feed them.

Kowboy Kal's Trick Roping World Championship 2010

Scottish Headbutting Invitiational

Chorus Line Simluator 1.000 (with robots)

Maybe an RPG where you point at the enemy you want to damage and then scream at them, where scream volume determines damage and scream type determines effects. Like this.

Between us we've played between hundreds and thousands of games. And this is the best we came up with?

Look on the bright side. Whatever huge thing that is on the horizon for Kinect will actully be a surprise.

Yeah, that will definitely be a surprise.

How about a Where's Waldo for Kinectic? When you find Waldo you use the motion tracking to point at him.

This would be the hardcore game Natal would be looking for.

Achievement Unlocked: Taste the Rainbow... 100 gs (Get into the Champagne Room via tipping Skittles the Stripper and unnecessary fondling)

Since XBOX has so few FPS games available, this one should fill the gap:

Beat Em And Eat Em 3D

Seriously people, if you're just going to come into every thread about Kinect to troll "OH MY GOD YOU MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO SIT DOWN!!!!!!!" You really aren't accomplishing anything.

But people think they are oh so funny because of course there could be no possible way of the technology working when sitting down. It's gonna take a really long time until people understand that it works while sitting and standing.

I was thinking of turrican xbla controlled 2 hands. Left hand is used to move the character. Flick hand up to jump, fist to crouch, motion left or right to move. Right hand used to aim by moving your index fingers in circles, trigger index finger, two fingers for next weapon etc. Kind of matches your hands to the same roles as they would on a pad.

Fetish: Do my girlfriend while I watch Kinect Edition.

Premise is, you look for people via the games server and who ever your girlfriends likes she fucks. Kinect motions and bodily fluids ahoy!

Than have an announcer say cute little catch phrases like this,

Reverse Cowgirl 10points Heating up!
Missionary Style 1 point Boring!
Anal 100 points OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It would sell millions I tell MILLIONS!

A CSI, Detective, SWAT Game. You would choose one of the three professions to follow.

The CSI profession would go to crime scenes and find evidence: test blood, pick up evidence yourself, and use the other tools used in the CSI show. Then you would process the evidence and get a list of suspects to give to the detectives. You would then wait for the detectives to find the main suspect and process the suspects house. At the end you will learn if the suspect was convicted.

The Detective profession would question people at the crime scene gather a list of suspects. Then talk to the CSI's to determine 2 or 3 main suspects go to their houses and question them: see if they have an alibi, impose search warrants, ask other question. Then when you get a primary suspect you would interrogate them: try to get them to confess but you have to worry about pushing to hard to were they ask for a lawyer(sometimes they will do it right away). If you learn something for them you will have to investigate farther.

For the SWAT profession you would study the layout of the place and then choose a load out required for the place(you can choose a wrong load out). The guns would be nonlethal types. When needed you would use a ram to open doors and also your foot to kick open doors. You would use hand signals on the harder difficulties were the amount of noise you make matters. It would be a four man team split in two and you would give commands to which doors to go to and how to breach the room. Depending on the situation you could go at a slow pace or have to go in fast.
