What I don't get is why does the Robo-armed one-eyed scientist wear glasses? That's like the perfect chance to wear a monocle and SE blows it.

I think the only true correct answer is Luso from Final Fantasy Tactics A2. It's so bad, it outclasses anything else that is bad enough to where the normal bad looks like a masterpiece of character design. This is the zenith of it's demographic.

Now hear me out. The design isn't awful. But she dresses more like a prostitute than royalty. The RIDICULOUSLY short skirt and thigh-high boots... Does not fit the character at all, and by definition is a bad design.
As far as just shitty looking characters... Anything extremely anime looking. Just because I hate most "anime" art styles. And even worse, games made in the US/UK that try to look Japanese.

Ashe's outfit doesn't really bother me too much. She's supposed to be dead/on the run/??? or something right? She was probably waiting for the rest of the her outfit to come out of the wash but some dudes came storming in and she grabbed whatever that was clean.
Gotta admit though she not only manages to find a skirt that doesn't match the rest of her outfit but she also manages to find a belt that doesn't even match the skirt. Oh and both belt and skirt look like they're made out of plastic(or the material that's used to make edible underwear).

Anyway, I'm replaying FFXII right now. My thing about Vaan is I don't think he looks that bad IN GAME. Sure that image everyone loves to post is laughable, in the game though Vaan's character looks consistant and not out of place with the other denizens of Rabanastre. He does have a stupid haircut though.

And she's a thousand times more interesting than 99,9% of all other female "characters" (props) in games. I saddens me that Bayonetta probably sold a lot worse than it would've if they had designed her to appeal more to men (ie like a Dead or Alive girl)

Well for one her body is unlike most anyone's in the average videogame. Pick a random Eastern or Western game out of a hat and more than likely you'll see a handful of the same archetypes. Either they're ironing boards or smuggling basketballs and aside from things like hair color, voice, and personality you'd be hard-pressed to tell them apart. Bayo's shape is almost elaborate by comparison.
It also helps that Bayo at least has a unique personality going for her. I really can't say the same for most every other game that happens to star a female main character.
It's over-sexualized to the point of parody and it's really not for everyone but eh I think it's fresh and charming.
