This depends on what Rifle you use though... The one I'm using now is ALOT weaker.. but it's pretty much a semi auto rifle... .. Kinda like the SR-25 from Socom (brings back memories)

That's the one I'm using as well. hate the default one cos the moment I scope back on the target after reload the target is gone :(

Can't wait to unlock the uber sniper I saw on the list (don't recall the name, it's similar to the Barett) as I assume that deals one shot kills wherever u hit the target.

Hey GAF, I'm back :P

And I come bearing gifts, I got 3 2 US keys for the BETA (had more but already gave a few away to ppl who PMed me on the PS3). I'll give priority to non junior members, don't take it the wrong way.
All gone!

I also have 8 7 6 4 2 MAG EU keys to give away :p PM-me if you want these

All gone :p
aj2good4you2, jorma, methane47, ibu, endlessflood, AndyD and Fersis were the lucky bastards :)

Is the squad system broken? I understand it's a beta, but i'm just asking. Last night a buddy and I formed a squad, when we found a game we were not only not in a squad together we were on separate teams.

edit: perhaps it's because the game was trying to keep teams even and such?

Yup Exactly the same reason why i use it. It takes a good 3-4 center mass shots... but I can usually get those off before the person can move away (if they are stationary)

Oh, a mag key would be awesome! Pretty please!

Is this game going to have air vehicles? The last one had that worthless attack chopper, but BF1943 had the awesome planes. Really, I just want a transport helicopter like a Blackhawk or something; there's something awesome about flying with 6 teammates.

Planes done belong in modern setting bf games, they were awful in BF2 hence the popularity of maps with no planes in most rotations. Helicopters thankfully were nerfed greatly and not flying tanks they were in BF2 and Vietnam where they sucked up multiple missiles. The attack choppers are confirmed though.

Blackhawk + parachutes = some awesome gaming moments I'm sure.

Quick question: how do you actually make use of the tracer dart when firing an RPG? If I see a tank that has a dart attached to it (little box on the mini-map right?), will a missile fired in any direction head toward the tracered vehicle? Do I need to wait for a tone or anything?

Man i used to LOVE planes... ESPECIALLY with Dog fights.. those were some INTENSE battles in the sky... I felt it was also great that.. Flying was just plain HARD... but when you were good at it... It was a big help to the team... BF2 was just awesome in every way to me.

I agree. I used to do plane stunts on empty servers with a friend of mine and we did some pretty crazy shit. Like switching planes mid air :lol Until they patched it and you couldn't enter a plane again in mid air :(

BF2 had benefit of the plane enabled maps being massive, they just wouldn't fit in BC sized maps.

The dart hits the target and flashes... at that point RPG's will be drawn to the target. You can curve them around corners and shit. Pretty cool. Imo the best way to use tracer (BFBC1) is to stick a tank or vehicle, put some object/cover between the two of you, and then shoot your RPS's high... they will fly over the object and then curve down and hit the target. Takes some practice to learn to angles but it keeps you safe.

In BC1 the tracer was only for Specialists and they didn't have RPG's, so using them required teamwork and coordination. But now you can be a one man army with those things + RPG's. Helicopter pilots beware.

omg us beta key pls pls!! Find it in your heart to not discriminate against us juniors :D :(.

Just had a good match where I had the tank right up against the last building with a engineer repairing and shooting while I kept spotting and using the smoke for cover so they could storm in better.

Blackhawks are confirmed! Imagine all the "This is Super Six Four, welcome to Bad Company Air" on the mics ;p video that confirms it

Just had two games where the first, my Squad were 3 useless snipers, the second when 50% of the team were just camped in one building... wasn't even the objective building :lol

3rd game my team was way better than the other and it was far too easy. Still, each game was fun. When you have two equal teams this game is beyond epic.

I just have to say the color chatter (not voip) is so awesome in this game. We were defending the last crate at the last stand and all of us were in the building yelling in Russian with the echoes and it sounded amazing. Just unlocked the red dot sigt and it is very helpful for my F2000, just mow peeps down.

I changed the setting to English because the Russian hurts my ears after awhile. If one speaks the language then that's different obviously.

Do grenades and grenade launchers actually damage a tank? I also fired 3 rockets at one before I got the Damage Vehicle +30 points. God, no one else was even trying to take it down, we just got bummed by two tanks and no one even bothered to try and stop them.

You guys need headsets!!
And that increased damage resistance vehicle perk can be a killer.

Yep.

That was the announcement trailer in the beginning. :p Nice montage.

Upon watching it I feel the urge to get back into the shit.

BTW, anyone heard the chatter that sounded like "shit we need to shit that shit back up!" (don't recall the exact sentence, but it's hilarious)

If no one else bothers it is absolutely pointless as there is no way for one person to take out a tank. Unless you manage to sneak up and plant C4 on it. Which is not easy if the tank is over the hills and far away.

So far I feel that it's much too easy for a tank crew to dominate. If your team is somewhat organized and coordinated tanks aren't that big of an obstacle, but how often do those stars align?

And really, having to unlock things like mortar strikes, mines and the tracer gun is kind of shitty as it limits your offensive capabilities against tanks. The mortar strike is also effective against infantry and buildings. It's a pretty big advantage over other players.

Shit yeah. That shit happens when you've armed the shit and the defenders manage to shit your shit up. It's like a profane version of the smurf language.

This is one reason why Rush is pretty ZZZzz. In a (well-designed) Conquest map, this is a non-issue because of how easy it is to flank. The size and structure of (again, purposely designed) Conquest maps also put a bigger emphasis on squad tactics. Rush is just a mindless meatgrinder.

I was in a game last night where my team was absolutely dominating, but every time the ticker would get down to 3 for the enemy team some douche on my team would c4 the objective and blow it up extending the game longer. I wish I could have booted his ass.

I wonder if the Russian side curses too. I only understand Tank, Sniper, Granata!!!, and Patrone.

Yesterday I unlocked the artillery strike. Time to really make my sniper actually useful. Is it me, or is there no way to see when the artillery has recharged again?

Just destroyed a tank with a 40mm Grenade round getting two kills in the process :D

Sorry I couldn't join you, said game unavailable and then told me to check my internet connection. :lol

Taking a break now anyway.

Christ, I'm so jealous. I want to get a stereo system just for this game.

yeah, IT IS NOT EASY for one person to take out a tank. you either have to land a full mortar strike on them, run up and C4, or pull off an awesome combo of back rockets and mines or a real solo battlefield moment. if there's a TANK CREW (2-3 people) why should ONE PERSON be easily able to take them on? your argument against tanks seems to be "they're playing as a team, no fair!" and seriously, the stars align a lot for me, i just talk nicely and lead by example, and things work out often more than not. of course, there's the occasional game where i end up in a squad with 3 snipers who camp out in the hills, but that's not the majority of my experience.

yep, i agree with this, i hate having to unlock useful shit like anti tank mines, mortar strikes, extra characters in fighting games, etc. it really upsets me that i have to go this bullshit with so many games because some ADHD people need a 'goal' other than to 'Have Fun', 'Win' and 'Get Better At The Game'

iirc it's "shit, they defused our charge, we need to set that shit back up!"

The radio thing will go from grey to solid white again.

so you've actually been playing the Beta? or did you just get a low class gamer to slum it on PS3 while you watched?

I put one of the peasants in the quarantined containment area where I house my consoles and play vicariously through them. I have other peasants connect a few wires to one, give orders to him through a 1 way speaker and send not-quite-fatal electrical shocks when he fucks up.

Tried the demo last night. I noticed many improvments over the first Bad Company. The controls are tighter, the destructability is much improved, and the graphics are crisper with an expanded colour palette. I like how easy it is to switch up your load outs between spawning.

I can see this giving COD a serious run for the money.

I noticed that occasionally the tanks will have the hatch up.

Can you throw a grenade in there (presumably killing everyone inside)? That would be too cool for me to handle.

I woudl faint if possible.

And BeeDog, its great and very solid. People say theres aliasing, but its hardly noticeable in the midst of everything. Its not a slow SP game where you can stare at set pieces for long, here, wait too long and the house you are staring at is liable to collapse from a tank shell.

Having such a great time with this. Playing as Recon with a tommy gun (I think) and calling mortar strikes. Can't stress enough how useful spotting is. People should be doing it as much as possible, I just wish it was on the d-pad.

I keep encountering a bug where my R2 and triangle buttons switch functions though :lol Very confusing when I keep trying to switch weapons but end up knifing.

I was just in the middle of an evenly matched, good game, and I lost connection. That's very deflating and makes you not want to play. The thing about this game is matches are long, so losing connection after all that work, sucks.

Do you loose all the points you gained during the match if you don't finish it?
