Why does my team suck every game I join? Does the PSN community generally lack teamwork/thought process? Every single person stays back and snipes, Im a advid BF2 player and even in pub servers there is a general sense of team work. I dunno, anywaaays, lovin the game, can imagine it would be brilliant on PC with some Anti Aliasing and teamwork.

Wow the PC purist BS needs to die.
Without the console versions there would not be a PC version.
I think I am going to stop playing now and save the grinding for the full game.

You're right, we'd only get Battlefield 3.

There's nothing purist in this thread. I don't have a PS3 and you can't deny the IQ would be better on a PC. Chill.

Without the pc battlefields there would be no console version. :/

I can understand the PC purists , they are frustrated because the series before bc2 has been massacred on consoles. BF2 modern combat , and BC1 were atrocious.

The pc guys just don't want their precious Battlefield to get raped anymore.

WTF? Both of those were excellent games in their own rights. They may have not replicated the feel of the PC Battlefields exactly, but they were perfectly fine on the consoles. Anyways, still loving BC2. I just wish more friends were playing that instead of MW2 (which I don't have) :/

I managed to get on top of a tank and tried to take out the gunner with my gun and knife but I was unsuccessful. I did see a blood when i slashed at the empty hatch though.

I've played about 25 hours of MW2 multi and just jumped into the BC2 beta on PS3... and wow, what a disappointment. The graphics, lighting, and sound effects are all superb, but what a clusterfuck. This game is probably what Enemy Territory: Quake Wars would have been like if they completely screwed it up.

I really don't even know where to begin. My biggest gripe is that I've never played a game where you die so many deaths without ever having had a fucking clue where the guy who killed you was... or even better, just getting blown up by a tank constantly.

I honestly don't know how EA expects to get any traction if that's the type of game that they're putting out in the wake of MW2. The level of power behind some of the vehicles is such that new players will be instantly turned off.

Sorry dude don't get mad because you suck....before you get defensive I was in the same boat but once you play a little more it should become easier.

I like being a Medic, but I hate those initial heavy machine guns. I prefer much more the ones who carry the engineers.

Game looks rad and OMG at the sound design from trailers/gameplay footage. Im a PC gamer so im hoping for a good battlefield :D (I never played bad company 1).

Whats the deal with PC version? Player count? any extra features ect..?

so they should make it easy for new players to kill tanks, right?

yeah goes without saying :D Im not trying to be a PC elitist either, I just got wind of this game through DICE's comments on Modern Warfare 2 which i though was pretty awesome of them hence why i thought it might be a bit different from console versions regarding player count ect

If some of the douchebags in this thread are any indication... great community.

Of course not -- maybe tanks just aren't a great idea in the game at all. It's nice to have one, but even when I got kills with it, it was so easy that it wasn't really fun.

It's just that it seems like the idea behind the balance in this game went something along the lines of "let's have lots of explosions... and some vehicles that create bigger explosions... and to counter them you'll need... uhhh, even BIGGER explosions."

Many great MP shooters, notably the Halo series, CoD4 and MW2, dispensed with tanks in multiplayer specifically because they can brake the game. In BC2, power weapons are handed to the player. If things like air strikes and AC-130's were appearing every 20 seconds in a MW2 multiplayer match, that would be a disaster for it too.

I've had K/D's of at least 1 in Halo 3 (where I had over a 2.0), MW2, KZ2, and ET:QW for PC... I'm pretty damn good with the shooting aspects of these games.

Also, the obvious counter to that statement is questioning who is really playing the BC2 beta so much when MW2 just came out? My first guess would be the people who suck at MW2, who will go into the beta being naturally predisposed to finding something to like about BC2 and prefer the fact that BC2. I doubt there are many who got to lvl 70 in MW2 and immediately jumped into BC2 and loved it.

I was also doing pretty well in the few instances of BC2 beta where I decided to just sit back and snipe, or when the tank spawned and I grabbed it first. Without coordination (which never happens since no one else uses headsets) and a vehicle, it's not easy to get close enough to do anything with the assault class.

I'm sure a lot of people never played the PC version of ET:QW, but given that this is a PS3 beta I'd bet there are a lot of former KZ2 players, and the feel of BC2 is very similar in a number of respects. KZ2 ended up turning into a clusterfuck at times too, but it still handled the gunplay much better than BC2, particularly in allowing you to actually get into actual on foot gun fights.

The name of the game is BATTLEFIELD. Tanks are a key component of a one. And what is with all this complaining about tanks being too strong.

1st. They're not, if a team is at least somewhat coordinated, the AT guys should have it covered. You aren't supposed to be able to take out a tank by yourself. Teamwork is heavy stressed by the design of the game.

2nd. I mean, they're TANKS.

Tanks are here to stay, maybe a complete battlefield experience isn't for you, but it doesn't mean that it is unbalanced. This isn't a CQC game.

Seriously... teamwork? On PSN? Seriously? Under 20% of people use headsets. The game gives no incentive to force people to accept support roles.

Maybe the PC version of this game will work.

Also, I don't pretend that DICE would ever consider removing tanks from the game. I was commenting that in its current form BC2 is not a serious contender to MW2 for MP time (and I hear tanks are a major part of 'modern warfare' too, btw).

No to tank gunners being exposed, they will be useless and nothing but sniper bait. The turret on the tank is accurate but it isn't powerful, it does moderate damage is prone to overheating. It's angle of fire doesn't cover every part of the tank's dead zone. I still think people are overlooking the fact the anti-tank emplacements do a ton of a damage to a tank's frontal armor.

The game requires teamwork, especially to take down tanks. Sorry if you don't have any friends playing, it's a lot of fun. Kind of funny that you complain about the gameplay, which most agree is good. Then like the graphics, which is the main complaint, you like.

I will say that allowing teams to use explosives to blow up the targets kind of defeats the purpose of arming the bomb.

Had an awesome moment a couple of days ago. I was on the defending team. We were pushed back to the third pair of crates, the ones in front of the bridge. As usual while defending this point, I headed to the construction site on the right side to cut off any enemies from flanking us from the beach shore. I was just gunning incoming attackers down when I saw some of my teammates concerntrate all their fire on one point. I wonder what's up, but continue to keep my position. All of a sudden a jeep swerves around the corner and heads straight for me. (Bear in mind, the jeep is now driving on a ledge, with half its body hanging over the side. I was at the bottom of the edge). I start backing up while spraying half my clip into the oncoming vehicle. Right when it's about to ram into me, the jeep rolls over sideways and falls down into the alleyway I was occupying. A second later 4 guys pop out of nowhere right in front of me. I see my chance, the attackers were disorientated and trying to figure out where they were, so I walked up to one and stabbed him in the neck. Same with the guy behind him. I quickly turn around to spray the rest of my clip into their Medic. All that's left is their Assault man, when someone in his squad spawns next to him. I knife the new man, but the Assault man recognises me now and is getting ready to fire. I can't get close enough to stab, so I pop out my pistol, aim for his head, and hope for the best. He goes down, as I walked off with a sliver of health left and the realization that I just killed 5 guys in 6 seconds.

Man this game is awesome.

Game sure is addictive. Had some great tank domination moments and also some great tank busting moments with C4 yesterday.

I hope they fix spawning though, i feel that you spawn into ceirtain death far to often in some of the defensive locations. And i'm not talking about spawn camping either. Rather that you often spawn right into the open, and you can be tagged and bagged by a sniper within a second.

Yesterday i was sniping the UAV controller guy, i had put two shots in him when an enemy tank rolls right into my scope blocking the view! I was waiting for it to pass when - BOOM killed by the fucking UAV. I'm sure he never even realised how awesome he was. =)

I just had a match in BC2 where I went 28/2KDR and we won as attackers, but then the opposing team used my tactic against me the next round for 6/33KDR and we lost as defenders. :(

In some slightly related news, Sony is giving out MAG Beta codes right now on a first-come, first-serve basis. I'd post a thread but I'm a bit of a lurker (thus, I'm short on posts. :P).

Thanks man. I'm hoping to see if the game lives up to its promises.

Got a question for Bad Company 2: Is there any way to see exactly how much health you have, or is the only indication the blood smear?

Just played over 4 hours and DAMN I hate freaking snipers on my squad. They did shit when the crate was about to blow and they did shit when we're suppose to blow up the crates.

Its only one way to find out check my stats in MW2(bigmanny287):D . My point was give it some time or maybe the game just isnt for you.

But every time i get one of those saviour kills i bet there is someone going "damn, i fucking love the snipers on my squad". If he even realises what happened, that is :P

I'm fine with snipers as long as they help the team and do the objective, but I hate the ones that act like they are playing team deathmatch. When my whole squad is sniping and I can't get to A or B fast, that's what tick me off.

I admit I don't give a rats ass about K/D ratio I risk my own life to take out a tank (suicide bomber with specialist landmines :D).

I suicide a lot with C4.. blowing up a tank is so awesome and gives you so many points, how can i resist? :P

I've had a few good snipers in my squad but one of them went beyond the call of duty. He spawned on me with a shotgun, tossed down a motion tracker, breached the wall with C4 killing one dude, together we killed a squad, planted the charge and got gunned down a hail of glorious fire protecting it. :lol I guess this is what DICE means by a "Battlefield moment".

I like to see that sniper :lol , that is one tactical guy.

I had one enemy that was real tactical today. He was hiding in the booth next to the gate to enter the second base. He put a C4 outside of the booth and took me out when I got too curious. and then when the coast was clear he snuck up on 2 of our team tank and blew them up.

I even admired his strategy when I was his enemy.

Blowing up tanks is better for the team :D

Edit: I tried the Jihad Jeep and it was awesome :lol :lol :lol
The only problem is when I ran straight into a head on collision with the tank my C4 was worthless, but it might be broken if it actually worked.

I finally decided to start ranking up the recon just to get mortar strikes. So many dead tanks and each one so satisfying as the points rack up.

Has anyone fully investigated the party system and features in the Beta? I have two questions and if anybody can answer either of them I'd appreciate it, TBH I think this is the most important area for feedback in the beta:

1. What is the size limit on the pre-match squad invite screen? Can you add more than four people to your 'party' and then let the game automatically break them up into squads for you? Or are you limited to only inviting 3 other friends before starting a game?

2. If you find yourself in a game with your friends (using the JOIN option), but their squad is full and the only squad you can get into doesn't have room for them, what are your options in terms of getting in a squad together? I know you can send them a squad invite (which would require them to leave and then re-join the game I think (if it's anything like BF1943), thereby forfeiting any points they've already acquired. Are there any other ways to achieve this?

Find a group of gaffers to play with, that's what i've been doing, most of the guys here have headsets and there's talent here too

For the second question, your solution I think is the only solution right now. But you dont forfeit any points. The game autosaves status at every death and regularly in between. I think its the best way though. That way if I am already in a squad with friends, I have to actively leave it by responding to another invite to join another squad.
