When your attacking team can't even get near the first objective because they're getting outtanked by the defense, Jihad jeep is such an easy tactic. I was killing a tank every spawn for about 10 spawns. I ended up with the highest score on either team despite almost all of the defenders outscoring the number 2 guy on my team.

Aw, I dunno. On defense, I've had some great matches that weren't with a team consisting mainly of sniper-spotters. Quite the contrary. After the first defense line was pushed back to the town, it was assault troops at the front line spotting for the couple of snipers lodged in the buildings to the rear. There's a nice little culvert on the lower side of the first building on the hill that I've found is great for spotting and holding the line against enemy troops coming down over the left flank hill. With some other assault, medic and engineer troops scattered along the rockface towards the attackers, it really put a dent in their numbers.
 
Man this is pretty fucking fun. I'd forgotten how much fun it is to be an engineer and chase after a wounded tank. Snipers are a bit annoying though so far.

The kill-cam seems to allow for some revenge on them, if you're quick or lucky.
 
Can someone add Rotbot on PSN? I'm sick of playing with disorganized squads. I was standing next to an assault squadmate repeatedly pressing select on him to ask for ammo. When that didn't work I told him to press right on the dpad through the mic. Still clueless.

I'll add you over the weekend, man. I know what you mean, dropping into a dodgy squad. If you get to your machine earlier than me, add "Pylon_Command". What class do you play? Dedicated medic, myself.

Added. Right now I mostly run medic and switch to engineer when anti-tank or tank support is needed.

I'm curious to know what's your bag in terms of multiplayer. I know I go to pieces in free-for-alls or classless, more lone-wolf kind of matches. BC2 and MAG are my new loves.
 
So for those of you complaining about the spotting, would you prefer a system where every time you fire it shows up on the radar? Because those are basically the options...we all know that console shooters are going to have some sort of crutch. I understand the complaints, but I'd rather have the spotting system if I'm choosing, especially considering map size and the powerful (probably too powerful) recon class.

Another thought on the class balance--Unless a scoped assault rifle is just totally dominant, that class seems harder to rank up especially compared to recon. Recon you get mortars at on 9K and start with C4, while assault has the sights at 35K and start with a lame nade launcher.

Jihad jeep is awesome but man some tanks can really aim. Got me long distance, I couldn't even see the tank and it was straight ahead.

Oh, I admit it doesn't take skill. I'd actually understand and be perfectly fine if they changed it back to the old way, since in a lot of cases finding where someone is and then being able to hit them with a bullet definately takes more skill than mashing select in the enemies general direction. But as long as they keep it how it is I'll use it to my advantage.

I know they won't change it. They're too close to release date and nobody is really bothered by it. The only way I see DICE even contemplate a change is if every player started abusing it so that any opposing player would be unable to stealthily enter enemey territory, but instead be in a constant barrage of fire once they hit sniper range. Of course, that's probably never gonna happen.

Is the MAG beta still going on? I'll probably be getting this game on PC if there are no issues but this beta may have just sold me on MAG. I haven't enjoyed a console fps since SOCOM but this was surprisingly fun.

Seems like DICE took their opportunity well in the whole MW2 debacle.
 
Really loving the beta, the chaos is great even though you only fight 12 opponents. It is however hard to end up in a good squad. Lots of players just go lone wolf, and that only leads to sudden death.

I mostly play as a Medic, and it's pretty easy to rake in heaps of points if you play it right. Last night I was in an awesome team with voice comm, and it got me 6000-ish points. Too bad this kind of teamwork doesn't happen a lot. I absolutely hate it when they drop me in a 3 player sniper squad.

How long will the beta run? I can't find any info about it.

Its the opposite for me. I played bc2 first and now I just cant stand MAG. MAG feels really boring and theres just too much grenade spamming going on. I also don't like that it feels too arcadey. Switching between grenade and the health syringe can lead to lethal mistakes and ducking with triangle is a terrible idea. The match making system also takes too long in MAG.

I had the single best Battlefield (BC1, 1943, BC2beta) match of my life last night, only to have the server crash with roughly two minutes to go!

We were defending and our 12v12 teams were perfectly matched. Every base was an epic battle and by the time we were down to the very last crate (with them only having six tickets left), the entire match had lasted almost an hour. I probably had 20,000-24,000 total points from combined Medic/Engineer/Tank and I was bitterly disappointed to not see my stats at the end. :(
 
FFS, the spawns seem as bad as MW2s sometimes in this - spawn, turn around, guy right there shooting me, awesome.

This team I'm on now fucking sucks at defense also, "tank" - "there's a tank" - not on guy goes Engineer bar me to try and destroy it.

If you see a tank.. you should go recon to try and destroy it..

They are Assaults sitting on dozens of ammo boxes they released themselves by glitching (normally, you can only have one ammo box deployed at any time).

Assault class gets point every time a teammate replenishes ammo from their boxes.
 
This game gets boring after a while. It's not competitive most of the time. Even playing with friends doesn't help. If you don't have traitors in your team

You've played ONE map with only three types of vehicles. Of course it gets boring after a while. The full game is obviously going to have more variables in play during rounds. And this is just RUSH! Everyone knows rush sucks compared to conquest.

Come on, people.
 
Yeah, I'm excited for the copters, if they handle anything like the ones in BF2 on PC, I'll be playing this for a looooooooong time, the attack copters in 2 handled like a dream - be interesting to see if they get added to the PS3 Beta before it ends, I never did get on with console copter controls.

That sounds like the game I was in last night. The two teams were definitely evenly matched which made for some epic battles. I'm totally hooked on this game. I can't imagine how awesome the full game is going to be. Was pissed when the server disconnected.
 
I don't think people quite understand the point sponge LIFE 33B + LIFE33C is. Faster healing + larger healing radius =

Heal +10
Squad heal +20
Heal +10
Heal +10
Squad Heal +20

Shit goes on forever, rack em up! I love being medic.

It's interesting how they've changed medpack functions... not sure if I prefer the old way better or not. It's certainly better for the guy playing medic, but from a game balance standpoint, not sure if it's better.

Not exactly, I think it is completely fair. If everyone is fulfilling their purpose whatever class they are, they will be racking up points as well.


If an assault isn't on the front line or constantly refilling his teammates ammo supply. He isn't doing his job.

If a medic isn't throwing medpacks where the majority of his teammates are and reviving people when a moment allows, he isn't doing his job.

If an engineer isn't running around repairing his teammates vehicles or isn't taking out enemy vehicles instead of sitting on his ass, you get the idea....

My point is, the game rewards you for fulfilling a specific purpose, more so than the last Bad Company, depending on your class, running around and just shooting people may not be we what gets you the most points.

But in the new game they're persistent (to a certain point) and can heal multiple players at once. They also have a radius which allows for (in theory) sustained healing of multiple teammates in a small area for a given amount of time/health. It's quite a bit different. And I haven't really decided whether or not I like the change.

I can understand why one would think that. However, I think as long as medics on both teams have access to it, then I wouldn't exactly call it an unbalance just because one team is taking advantage of it and the other isn't.

Keep in mind, I'm sacrificing perks that benefit me personally. Such as better aim, stronger resistance to bullets, sprint, extra grenades, extra ammo. So everything comes at a cost. I've killed medics that have the defense perk, or extra ammo perk etc... So their choosing to benefit themselves instead of their entire team makes them weaker in the end. It's balanced, it's just that people have to use it.
 
I wish it would give me a bit of a better understanding of where I'll spawn, also in the line of sight of two snipers and a tank is not the best spawn point there game.

Well irrespective of what I think about them... they're in the game, and probably not going anywhere. It's not really that big of a deal. I might even warm up to the changes.

My only real gripes at this point are spotting, lack of control customization, and killcam.

Med packs and ammo crates I don't really care too much about.

Well, attackers can damage the crates. Without even being near them e.g.: a tank shelling a crate from down the road. :P

Seems weird to me... I always thought Defenders had the advantage already (when the teams were evenly matched).

Wow, I never thought of checking that out. Luckily most crates are destroyed by the armed explosives or buildings collapsing on them rather than actual damage.
