Oh, okay. So late-comers are stuck having to unlock them or something?
Late-comers or people like me who refuse to support EA's retarded Limited Edition BS.

Even though both versions will cost the same price I'm still going to buy the standard edition.

i've shot people (who just spawned) with the M24 from 10-20 yards away and they didn't die. in BC1, even at 60 yards, a center mass shot would kill them, even further with the M95. then again, maybe they had the damage perk... who knows...

sniper rifles are more powerful the closer you are to someone.

it was the same way in bc1

edit: yay im a member now

They eventually nerfed them for CQB in BC1 iirc.

This bothers me about BC2... because I think center mass shots with the bolt actions (as long as it's not extremely long range) should be one hit kills. I think having to work the bolt and squeeze off another round is horseshit.

I mean... if a guy is going to survive that hit... it should go something like this.

I find the semi-automatic sniper rifles to be a bit too nerfed.

Do tell me if there is any reason to unlock the M95 or rather choose it over M24 at all?

nah, the bolt action rifles will all kill with a center mass shot from 0-60 yards or so, and the M95 even further. plus, you can instant scope shot by pressing zoom and shoot simultaneously (they removed this in BC2), dead center shot every time.

well, they still kill with 1 headshot, and you don't have to lose focus to shoot again, how much damage should they do compared to a bolt action?

and as for the M95, when i unlock it, i'll be sure to post impressions!

On a side note, I see no real reason to use the dart yourself if you are the one with the RPG. What's the point when the time spent with that action can be used to actually fire a rocket instead?

No, I think it's mostly useful as an assisting device for others to take advantage of. Kinda like the spotting system, but more useful to the RPG guys.

Or am I missing something?

This is true, which is why I started equipping my medic with the tracer gun. He doesn't need a pistol because he rarely has to reload and almost never runs out of ammo.

I'm still trying to figure why my rpg doesn't home in on the tank sometimes. Maybe the darts effect wears off before I shoot..

Yea I think both bolt actions and semi-automatics are one shot kill for headshot (it's fun to get when the victim is in motion).

But 4 darn shots for the body when using semi-auto sniper rifles? C'mon -__-

my Medic and Assault always have a Tracer Dart, Recon almost always has M1911, and Engineer it depends, usually i'llk have the Tracer on Defense and M1911 on Offense.

I came face to face with this level 30 guy a few times in a match and he put down in a split second with an AUG. I didn't have a chance with my F2000 or AKS74u. Either that gun is really powerful or he was getting headshots or both.

I tried the USAS12 a few times for fun and I pretty much got murdered lol. I tried the long range bullet set-up and it still sucked. Then again maybe I suck.

Well, considering it's 2 for the M24, they have to balance it somehow. Personally, I'm not a big fan of 1 hit kill sniper rifles(Killzone 2...), so I like it how it is. If it was an easy 1 hit kill, we'd have even more stupid ass snipers not doing anything.

Topher said:
How exactly does the tracer gun work, any eng. can shoot his rocket from an angle and still hit it?

Well that's how it's supposed to work yeah. When the tank is tagged a red square will blink on it on the map, I think. You aim your rpg through the scope toward the tank, you see blinking squares, aim in the air and it curves and hits the tank. Really cool when it works. The tag only lasts for a short period of time. Not sure how long.

I use them with the red dot sight or 4x for close/medium range. I much prefer semi-autos, in fact. In the time it takes to reload a bolt-action you can get off those four shots.

I agree. There is already tons of stupid ass snipers, 1 hit kill will make even more.

well, i'm not talking golden gun style shoot you in the toe, i'm talking about 10-20 yards center mass shots not killing and having to use a sidearm to finish.

I like the 2 shots or less for the bolt action. I'd find it a little too much if the semi autos had the same amount of stopping power.

Edit - isn't there a slight amount of invincibility on spawn? Hence the feeling of needing more than a single mass shot?

BFBC2 is going to surprise a lot of people, I will be trading in MWS for BFBC2. You can feel the weight of the guns, like in Kill zone 2. But BFBC2 really need a health meter of some type.

Played for an hour today and got stuck with a lot of camping squadmates again... so I camped and sniped. Once you get use to bullet drop headshots are awesome.

Also finally unlocked the red dot sights for assault class. I dumped the more accurate bullets for that. I didn't get much time to test which is better for me though.

Agreed since it doesn't regenerate and there is no visual cue to tell whether you are being healed when you are standing or crouching on a med-pack.

indeed, they just need to have a health bar/number or a sound like the auto-injector in BC1 or something.

I loved doing this in BC1, but there's still nothing better than stealing an enemies tank while they are repairing it. I did it to some poor guy earlier, I was up on a ridge defending, and there was a tank right below me shelling our base. So I fired two rockets at the back of his tank, he switched to the gunner seat and tried to shoot me but I only got hit once and just hid for a second.

I checked the mini map and the tank was no longer orange which told me he was either searching for me, or was repairing it. So I took a running leap off the ridge toward the tank, out came my parachute and I ended up right next to the tank, hopped in and as soon as I did the tank started taking damage cause he had his powertool out and was in the middle of fixing it :lol I started backing up and he must have thought I was a teammate cause he started chasing after the tank with the drill still out, but unfortunately for him all he got was a 120mm shell in his face.

yeah, that's awesome stuff. earlier today, after our heavy defense was slowly broken down by a push of their snipers, these 3 tanks rolled right down the middle to the first base, making a bold and coordinated push. two of them didn't quite make it to the inside area where the Bravo crate is. one rolled into my mines, the other got a rocket sandwich from some teammates, but the third tank made it all the way in, took out most of the defenders in that little area, and then they made the biggest mistake they possibly could. BOTH GUYS HOPPED OUT TO GO ARM THE CRATE!!!

i LOVE, LOVE, LOVE when the attacking team uses a tank like a personal transport, driving up and delivering it to our bases then hopping out to go arm the crates. thanks for the tank and the double kill guys, keep it up!

xoxoxo

what really takes the cake though, is when people hot out of their tank to repair it in the middle of a 1 on 1 tank battle. no, i'm not going to just wait a bit so your tank is repaired a little, then take your tank and destroy mine, why would i ever do that!?

I've seen tons of people doing mistakes like that an I was a freaking assualt :lol . I love sniping heads off the engineer repairing tanks.

I'am with you havent felt this way since Delta Force....actually Iam addicted to it now constantly played throughout my 4-day weekend from school and work.

I get the greatest satisfaction out of C4'ing a tank. There is no better feeling than sneaking up behind a tank, planting C4, running away, and then seeing them Charlie's burn.

They(tanks) always fucking kill me every single time I get anywhere near them , it's especially frustrating when your at the last stand phase of rush and your defending and there's always a tank at the far side of the map just killing the shit out of me.

Yeah add to that a squad protecting it. I hate when I'm the only person who tries to do something about the tank.

Just hoping they fixed the godawful singleplayer campaign AI from the first game. Single-handedly ruined it for me and never finished the original BC.

So I got 430 points from one anti-tank mine near a crate, I think the first explosion cooked off a second mine I laid next to it that killed someone on foot.

I have to say Engineer is credit to team.

I usually use the antitank mines but they dont' explode all the time I have to shoot them myself. But when they work as plan I like to see the tanks fly :O

It's awesome when you have a cluster of them :D Setting an almost c4 like trap.

yeah, i managed to pull myself (barely) thru the first level of single player, and other than the humor, it was terrible.

Is it bugged or based on speed like in 1942? In the older game you could drive over mines as long as you went very slow.

With as awesome as the MP is.... this might be the first game I don't even touch the single player part of it.

I liked BC SP for the most part... it was broken and stupid... but I still payed through the whole damn thing. There's a nine mile long list of AAA games I never finished because I got bored near the end. But I finished BC.

Got to fly the pimped out golden chopper that should have been in MP. :D

Funny story: I actually started playing SP because I wanted to learn how to fly the chopper outside of learning in a MP match. So I got all the way to the chopper part in SP, only to learn the controls are completely fucking different than in MP... so it was absolutely zero help. But by that time I was hooked on SP, so I finished. And I think SP trained me to be godly with the sniper/handgun.

Heads up in case there's anybody expecting a beta code: http://twitter.com/OfficialBFBC2

There will be US beta codes starting at 6PM PST (2 hrs 15 minutes from this post), every 30 minutes. I told a friend to try and grab one but it seems like they're gone the minute they're up, so I guess you guys have to be super fast. Good luck :D

and remember folks, entering on PC is faster!

It's one of those games where the more you play the more you like it (minus the glitches and certain design choices, given it's a beta).

But god damn it's one of the worst time as well since, if you are a student you are being humped by mid-terms or finals.

Ah hell, I can't wait to get back in it.

By the way, has any member here, tried the bolt action, award winning Barrett M95?

By the way, any chance that we may see sniper rifle like M-110, Barrett M82, Dragunov SVD (for the Russian side), Cheytac M200 Intervention?

I have a couple of questions I'm hoping some of the more experienced Beta guys can answer for me...

1. What is the foregrip? Do you mean the grip that comes automatically with the GL attachment, or is there some other upgrade that I'm not seeing?
2. The only two classes that have C4 are recon and assaults (when using something other than assault rifle), correct?
3. Which specialisation allows you to carry more AT mines/C4? How many does it increase the count by?
4. From what people have unlocked so far, which weapons seem to be the best for each class? And do the stats give a true indication of effectiveness? I notice that the AN-94 has the best stats for an assault rifle for instance.

Cheers guys!

1. Foregrip is an accuracy booster that replaces the second customization slot. You can have an RDS and a foregrip.

4. "Best" depends on the application. As for the AN-94 it has burst fire so the close quarters and group targeting of enemies hurts it in those situation.

On the same note I just unlocked the M416 and damn it is awesome gun. Oddly enough the action is wrong side but bullets fly from the correct side, so maybe it is the old model of the gun? Anyway it is an excellent assault weapon. Deadly at close to medium range it is fantastic to shoot. Rate of fire can deceive so I fund myself running out of ammo more frequently...The sound of each shot just sounds orgasmic from that gun.
