Yup it's in tiny increments. When I started the beta I compared all the rifles and the XM8 definitely were less accurate then the AN94 and now it's tied.

The M24 sniper compared to the other bolt action sniper rifle I forgot the name but the rate of fire was inferior and now it's tied making the m24 a better rifle for me.

Sheeiiit gonna be even more addicted now :lol

Why do you guys prefer the AT mines?
on defense i prefer the mines because they're set it and forget it. i place them at a few common points (near the entry gates, front left corner, in front of the blocked driveway to the main courtyard, rear right roadway) which means tanks that make that approach die (if the mines go off! they're kinda nutty!). i've gotten 500 point combos a few times because a tank sets off a mine that kills itself, and the chain reaction of mines also takes out a jeep that's ghosting the tank.

I'm addicted to leveling my weapons now. My rank doesn't matter I want to maximize my weapon stars. As soon as I get the M416 good bye XM8...you been so good to me...beta ends *Tear drop*

I'll have to level up all my weapons and unlock stuff again when the full game comes out. I'll definitely do it again. This time I'll stick to one weapon and class. I'll power up the XM8 like crazy until I get the M416.

I just downloaded this and WOW, so good. Lots of action/teamwork taking place, and squads are obviously awesome. I wasn't a big fan of the original BC but loved BF1943, and I'm really enjoying this. The engine is great for what it's doing.

I appreciate teamwork more when I have teams that doesn't work as a team. I find it remarkable that a console fps having a bunch of strangers working as a team even without voice communication.

Now that you mention it I had tanks that ran over my mines without it setting off. That might be a bug.

I also had a weird holding a grenade while you are throwing it bug (No throwing animation).

i read somewhere that if the mine flips over, it doesn't go off when vehicles drive over it.

so now when i'm setting mines, i crouch and aim down slightly, they almost never flip over then, and they seem to work more often when i do it, but it could be a placebo...

But if you use these other weapons won't they get better and thus, surpass the earlier ones?

Man. I hate doing this but I'm subscribed to this thread and it's fucking mocking me. Every time I click on it I hear someone pointing and laughing at me for not getting in the beta.

I've been in almost all of the PSN beta's to date. I'm sure this somehow has to do with my decision to drop that load of crap that was Qore.

So my fellow dudebros if anyone has a spare would you mind tossing the brdman a code?

Yesterday i've pulled something that i never managed to do in any battlefield on pc: sniping the driver of a moving vehicle :D This game owns my soul.

Motion Sensors blow. You can't even breath in this game without the whole world knowing where you are. If they took them out it would be a better game.

They seriously need a ninja perk.

Man you have no idea how bad it used to be. Still I hope the regular spotting becomes like the motion sensor.

I did that last night. I also got the gunner too. The driver tried to run me over on the beach, took his head off and the car zipped past me. Gunner tried to circle the gun round to me as h wnet past, but i got another shot off as he started to fire and BAM! pulped his tomato.

It was godly. Cannot wait for the PC beta.

Ah, I'm actually getting to the point where it diminishes my enjoyment of the game. Dice is obsessed with red triangles, I don't get it. So much greatness in this game but I'm coming to realize it's one big clusterfck of red triangles running around the map. Like I said, some sort of ninja perk would be a godsend.

Defending Crate B at 2nd last sector point in the map. I saw an attacker crouching next to one of the train box cars/crates/concrete barriers and knew I couldn't fire enough sure hits on the target for the kill so I decided to throw a grenade.

I got him!

....and got his friend... and another... oh one more... what the fuck another.... shit... 5 now.... seriously, and the final 6th kill! That grenade just kept on giving. If memory serves me right I think I got close to 400+ points just for that and a special badge for those kills. It is amazing when you not only get the kills but + to defending and if you are lucky a savior or avenging badge to go along with it.

I usually end up with 3-5K points per match easily enough. Medic just owns. Spotting in the gunner position in a tank is my favorite thing to do in the game. +20 per spot for the kills if I do not get the kills personally myself. I believe a gunner spotting properly, coupled with a tank driver that can target to those spots fast and effectively while moving out of harms way if being attack, and lastly all backed up with an engineer repairing is almost game breaking. twice last night I was with a crew like that the held a crate position for over 50 kills deducted from the attackers. Effective, yes.

Seems to depend on the team attacking. Mines are great for Hummers and ATV's and if you can circle a tank w/ mines... then the tank is f'ed.

Sometimes though it's tough to give up the RPG.

The most satisfying game I had yesterday was a hold at the first point. They got Alpha w/ about 15 points to try and take Bravo. They threw a ton of shit at us and the snipers were shelling the hell out of Bravo... but we were able to hold. Seemed like forever... like literally a 30-40 min game since we just kept them from entering the area. Next round we of course won in about 15 mins. :lol

Anyone else think the Tank Gunner is a little nerfed? There have been many times where I put a ton of rounds into the enemy and they don't drop.

I love the warm and fuzzy feeling I get when pushing towards the final crate, reaching the second floor, checking the radar, and realizing I'm the only one from my team in the general vicinity. Had I turned around before entering the building, I would have seen a line of dirty cowards taking pot shots at the enemy. Snipers, I can understand (and loathe) but engineers, assault, and medics?! What were those assholes doing?! The really stupid part is the fact that there were one, sometimes two guys defending B. It was only during my third assault that I had some help.

Did I mention I loathe snipers? Can those tits ever put a stop to a solid offense. And I always seem to be put on a squad with them. One time, I joined a game and was put on a squad with two snipers. They were speaking a different language, but since I never saw them take a shot I took them as more worthless than the average sniper. So, I spawned on them, dropped a frag, and ran away giggling as they presumably slung insults at me. In conclusion, fuck wookies.

Same thing happened to me last night. I pressed R2 to throw the grenade and my characters hand was holding the grenade. Then I see the grenade flying to where I was pointing. It's a beta so I understand.

Beta still great though. ;) Can't wait for the final game.

They need to fix this before the release. You pretty much become immortal, but knife can still kill you.

If anything it's overpowered. The times when I've put up insanely high scores are when I've been a tankgunner with a squadmate.

When you jump out to repair the tank you get points. When you kill an enemy with the machine gun you get points. If you spot an enemy (which is what you should be doing constantly) and the driver kills them you get points. If you spot an enemy and anybody else kills them you get points. Basically, you get a lot of points.

The limited effectiveness of the machine gun also helps to make C4 more viable; whether the two man tank unit is still overpowered is debatable, but I think you'd have to be insane to argue that it's underpowered. In particular, the lack of cover near the defender spawn points at the fourth and fifth objectives means you can spawn rape them very easily in a tank. I'd like to see them leave the tank the way it is, but either have more intelligent defender spawning (spawning simultaneously on different sides of the tank would be nice) or more cover for the defender spawn points at those final two objectives.

If anything the tank gunner is WAY overpowered IMO. At the first capture points, there is a sniper spot up on the hill. As soon as some one spots a sniper there, you can easily take the sniper out without even properly aiming at them. If anything the tank gun is powerful but not accurate, not sure why it is left so accurate in the game. I hope they fix it.

sounds like you're missing... the spread isn't that good when they're far away, you have to lay down a bit of fire to hit them... at close to mid range, you should see how easy it is to kill someone, just a few hits does the job.

i EAT EAT EAT EAT EAT EAT EAT EAT soldiers, hummers and quads with the gun.

The motion sensors should only work if someone is actually moving....

I hate snipers also, but my friend is sniping right now on my account :lol
I have converted a MW2 fan into a BFBC2 fan :D

How do they do that? :lol
If you look at the second pic you'll see that there is a dropped machine gun, so he just switches between the two, and every time he does it the med packs get reset but they don't disappear.

Lol I need to try this!! lololol

I hate people so sooo much sometimes.

Seriously, a squad consisting of ONLY snipers, except me. When we are attackers. Then, when we defend, nobody tries to even defuse the charge, at all. Also hate people who just take the tanks/jeeps/whatever, and drive off as soon as they get in. Not giving a fuck about teamwork of any kind.

This makes me sad sometimes. =/

Don't play with randoms

Oh, uh I should clarify there, what I meant was how the motion sensor only spots people on the map, not on the HUD. It just gets really goofy when you're following a guys movement as they run behind a building which you can't see through. Strange I thought in some dev video they said that the triangles were supposed to disappear once your crosshair left the target.

Violater said:

And this is not helpful. Obviously they guy doesn't choose to play with randoms. Sometimes your real life friends just aren't into video games. Obviously games can't account for retards, but it is possible to create games that are consistently fun with or without teamates you can count on. Heck BF2 was. I'm thinking Conquest will save the day there.

I hate it that after I carefully lay out my mines with the added explosive perk my team ends up holding the first base without any enemy vehicle even approaching my mines.

You can switch squads during a match... or just leave the squad, to get away from the snipers.

As far as people (snipers) taking a vehicle, rushing to some hillside, and then abandoning it... fuck those assholes. I used to kill them in BC1, especially if I saw the enemy take the vehicle right after they bailed from it. The ATV... that's one thing. I mean, thats kind of the purpose of that one. But a sniper taking a fucking tank from the base and then wasting it? Unforgivable. Wasting vehicles is the worst sin in Battlefield.

If I am defending and a sniper kills me, then a different sniper kills me again, then one more, I sit back and laugh, because I know those a-holes aren't accomplishing jack shit for their team. Then as Defenders we will then win that match and I will see my 4000 points compared to the snipers 380 total points. Yeppers, more snipers the merrier on the opposition. Works for me :)

I have realized my role in BC2: Tank Gunner. Besides actively gunning down dicks and repairing the vehicle constantly, the key to the Tank Gunner is: SPOTTING. I doubled the points of the people that were 2nd and 3rd on the map last night. As gunner in the tank, I can spot all the enemy as much as possible and end up +20 for the spot, +30 for the support and maybe +50 I think it was for the Critical Spot Kill if I am also doing dmg to the enemy. I got +400 points in less then a ten seconds once for spotting a group of enemies on top of a building once, I spotted 5+ enemies, my tank guy shot and killed a whole bunch as well as the UAV, and I reaped the rewards.

I love this game. <3 so much.

Looks like Penny Arcade shitting on this game, course they are huge MW fans

I actually took fanboy offense to that yesterday but realized it doesn't matter in the end, as people just have different opinions for games and that's fine. What I would take issue is that many people read PA and might take their opinions to heart, which would be a shame, as BFBC2 is one of the most fun games in recently history for multiplayer for me. But then again that is my opinion too but I do not have my own website that millions view. The game deserves praise. It doesn't deserve to have it's beta put up against a game that is out and has had the propaganda machine in full effect for some time, and both games are significantly different in their presentation/design.

Anyways, to each their own. March 2010 cannot come soon enough.

I don't think your MWN call out is fair:
I never fully understood how Battlefield: Bad Company 2 became the receptacle for so much good will when public opinion on Modern Warfare 2 went south. It has Dedicated Servers, certainly, and this is a consideration, but the two games are philosophically distinct - they're so diverse that they're barely comparable, and one could never be reasonably substituted for the other outside the dilapidated machinery of forum logic.

Also, Gabe doesn't seem to like the Battlefield series. He is not shitting on the game, he just doesn't like the whole concept and flavour.
