Holy shit... that's a lot of maps. And the IGN article says all the maps are pretty huge, and can be sectioned off for certain game modes. That means a lot of different options/remixes.

That's fantastic.

One vehicle squad deathmatch HC... that will be so awesome.

Article and video says you can adjust the kill limit. But the video emphasizes having a medic, so I assume ticket-saving revives could be in. But who knows until DICE says what's up.

Unless they arbitrarily made it take, say 20% for the points to kick in on a hummer... then we wouldn't be able to tell again.

quads and jeeps repair way faster. not sure how many points are given, since i've only repaired empty ones, but i assume they don't give you 180/270 points for repairing one, that would be silly.

you've made me care more now... i need to check it out with someone! i need to time it and see if you get repair points at the same intervals.

later that day... you get repair points WAY faster on a jeep... damaged a jeep enough to get into single digits and you get repair points faster than the game can even display them! you get 160 for a repair from almost nothing, but they stack so fast that by the time you've repaired, it's only at +80 and the rest keep piling up long after you're done.

i did it twice to make sure. also, it's funny how it's easy to damage a jeep via simple collisions while driving solo, but hard as fuck or maybe even impossible to do it with a passenger!

This has to be my longest played beta.. most of the time I play once or twice then forget about the game but this is so rad. Cant wait for PC version :D

Well done! So it indeed seems to work on a percentage basis as you say. And whoever mentioned it originally was correct in that the repair tweak is a slight engineer point nerf.

That squad deathmatch video is pretty neat. Having a mode where you and your buddies can be the entire team is a good idea.

If I'm not mistaken, the beta ends on monday (DEC21st), so I'd guess it's going to be difficult to come across a beta key during the weekend.

There is a demo coming, however, and I believe it drops on January (though I'm not 100% certain of that). I guess you'll have to wait till then, sorry ):

One slight thing that's bugging me though, nerfing tanks and buffing buildings at the same time. It's almost certainly fine as Alpha on checkpint one and both on checkpoint 2 were very easy to take down, I just don't like it when they tweak something twice in one update. Technically we haven't even seen the other rush maps yet.

HC mode with one shot sniper kills might be rough.
I'm going to avoid that cluster fuck of a mode. It's going to be a sniper fest. Dying/killing faster is not hardcore. If only there was a mode that takes out spotting and a tad longer tank respawning time.
 
Had 10,000pts in a game, not even sure how that happened because I don't think I played as well as I have in other games. I was 61/21 at the end of it, I've had a few 40+ games where I've either died once or not at all, and none of them were over 7000pts.

Good game man! Yeah I heard her in the background. Funny thing is, every single person I have played BC2 with that is on my friends list has had to to get off because of their started girlfriend cracking the whip! :lol

in squad deathmatch? you mean like if you revive someone, the team that got the kill loses a point? yeah, it makes sense in RUSH and Conquest, but that would make no sense in deathmatch...
 
Things everyone should do if you have an atv or humvee.

1. Make a small crater

2. Get all your squadmates to equip the perk that lets you carry more mines and c4.

3. Dump a huge pile in that crater.

4. get in the vehicle and drive over the pile so that its under the rear.

5. Detonate the mine or shoot at it.

6. Infinity and beyond.

You can flip over tanks too.

Shame this ends on Monday just started playing, feels much more like a proper Battlefield game than BC1 did. It's got me excited about the proper version, hopefully the beta for that is actually early 2010.

What do you mean by this? Just curious, as I haven't followed every page of the thread, and never got into the beta, but from what I've seen so far it doesn't sound all that different from the original BC. What makes it more Battlefield-esque? In fact, what makes it feel different?

I love Bad Company, and always thought it was a single patch away from perfection. I'm just not sure what changes are in store for this new entry in the series, and whether those changes are a good thing.

Hit level 20 last night..... what a fun beta. With all the new screens and movies coming out on the game... I cannot wait to pick this title up in march. Keep up the great work Dice! :D

Been playing the Beta for about a week off and on and its fantastic. I usually don't like playing shooters on PS3 controllers, but this really nails it. Best shooter controls for ps3 I've experienced so far. I'm not a huge fan of the super-saturated look of this level, but as long as their is variety i don't care. The only negative I can think was the hard lock ups i'd get very 2 hours. Ehh its a beta.

Weapons damage being more in line with older Battlefields would probably be the biggest. No insta spotting, orange triangles are still there, but you at least have to make an akward button press to do it. Class gear have been mixed around with only 4 total classes now. No laser designator. Some buildings can be brought down. Very slow regenerating health.

I like the changes, but I wasn't a fan of BC1, so YMMV. PC beta comes up soon, you could try to get in on that.

So do we know exactly when they take the Beta servers offline? I only ask because of timezone differences, etc. It's Mon 21 Dec here already (6:23 PM to be exact) and I'm wondering if I'll be able to fit in one last night of BFBC2...
 
The death animations are awesome. When people get hit they just drop like a sack of potatoes. Just the way it's supposed to be.
 
I was not too impressed with the beta, there was so much potential but the multiplayer just did not attract me as much as Bf2 and Bf1943 did. It still felt way too much like Bc1 and not enough like Bf2. I'm really looking forward to the demo in Jan I want to see if they added any cool stuff and if the shooting is satisfying.

I love it when a piece of wall gets torn apart and some poor dude gets blown out alonside the rubble. Just seeing these things in the corner of my eye without really being part of it makes it so random and awesome.:D

Shame there is no Halo 3 style replays or battle recorder to save those moments and then watch them in slow mo :)

i don't get how anyone can like '43 and not this or BC1 and then say '43 is like the PC games...
 
just finished my last session with this game. Put in close to 48 hours iirc, but didn't get the pin. I played this more than any other game this year, with the Uncharted beta/MP coming in second.

i'm still going in spurts... even after a friend of mine helped me boost like 40 points 2 days ago and playing almost all recon yesterday, i'm still about 30k short of the M95... i don't think i'm gonna make it... oh well...
