I always assumed that requiring headshots to be 1 hit kills are more skilled. Not popping off 1 shot for a kill no matter where it hits.

Better aim and reaction>faster death. I know consoles are a lot harder to do but it's possible. There is a lot of good Halo 3 players.
the problem is when someone is 0-50ft away where a headshot is problematic because of the crazy bullet spread when not scoped and the inability to actually aim at the person when scoped and you're pretty much fucked even if you shoot first unless you get a headshot. just more reason to boost to get the M95...

Seems perfectly reasonable to me because Sniper rifle are built for distance not close range. That's why there is secondary weapons right. M1911 is deadly close range.

The thing with BC2 is -
Dpending on the situation, I'm willing to just take sniper shots for hits/pressure and not for kills.
For example, there are times where I could be much more helpful to my offensive team to just spot + quickly lower defenders' health instead of wasting my time to line perfect headshots. (ex: watching over the hill for 4th wave crate A).

Of course, maybe I'm just to rationalize moments when I can't seem to get any sniper kills :D.

(I guess it's a matter of how confident you are with your sniping and how much you think can contribute.)

And yes, the M1911 is damn deadly at close ranges. It's almost like a freaking shotgun if you fire it fast enough.

so from reading the updates looks like they toned down the arrow indicator color and duration for spotting enemies. im thrilled!
And I'm sad. :(

I felt that the spotting system in the beta was about as close to perfection as one could get.

Yeah I'm disappointed as well. As I've said before, the spotting system is the only way you can communicate with people on your team who aren't in your squad :(

The official BC2 Twitter had this to say about (what I can only assume is) the 360 Demo

@OfficialBFBC2
Insider Tip: Demo release dates for console can't release until passing 1st Party certification, so no date until it's close.

So...if you're wondering why they've been tight lipped, that is why. Still, that means it has to be up to Microsoft certification...let's hope it doesn't linger in that limbo for long

I feel like I'm going nuts here, but did anyone else read about the supposed preorder exclusive multiplayer mode? I was checking out the game on GameStop.com a while back and it had an exclusive multiplayer mode in addition to the preorder gun. I'm not sure if it was cancelled or leaked too early, but I didn't post it here as I figured it was old news. Now I can't find any evidence it exists, aside from a partial mention on a Google search.
AKS-74 and exclusive multiplayer mode will be emailed on Monday, March 1st.

Surely someoe else has heard about this.

Don't really recall...

but...an exclusive multiplayer mode just for gamestop pre-orders would be quite silly, no?

Is there an official date for the start of the PC open beta?

January 28, 2010

Anyone who pre-orders the game from Steam will be given automatic access to the beta. It should be up soon on the Steam store. I'm not quite sure if pre-ordering from other DD services or retail will get automatic access.

20 god damned days, then? I'm having withdrawal issues, for real.

I thought you didn't play shooters on consoles due to some prohibitive controller issue... you must really like this game. :lol

This is how I approach targets as well unless they're closing in on the objectives. Maim & spot, let someone else pick up the kill.

Does not apply to medics and engineers though. I try to take them out asap.

Then again, having people spawn on them is a problem too.

I'll play them, I'll just bitch about it a lot afterwards. :P

As for the prohibitive issue, I ended up adapting. Which has made me all elitist and rotten against dudes who can't get past the relatively minor hurdle of quirky controls in certain games.

So psyched for this...but I'd much rather have a digital copy of Bad Company 2. Is there any way to do the pre-order with a digital copy? Has there been any mention of Steam?

EDIT: N/M, EA store to the rescue!

I still want this game, but no mod tools, what seems to be a lack of a dedicated server client, and the use of Punkbuster is kinda killing the mood. Can't wait to be kicked from servers because i haven't run pbupdate in a while.

I hope this means choppers.

The battle for Port Valdez is fought alongside the waterline towards a great oil industrial landscape in the Alaskan mountains. Using basically everything they've got the Russian forces are launching an airborne assault to knock out the oil industries in the area. In their arsenal there are Main Battle Tanks as well as fast-moving Quad Bikes and mobile armored AA. It's a vehicle focused battle, but with plenty of infantry combat.

Wierd. So this means people will have to pay for servers from EA and their selected partners because you can't run your own servers?

Bums me out a bit. But I prefer this model if it keeps Dedicated servers in more games :)

Awesome, can't wait to jump into the chopper, get the gunner seat because some clown fucker had camped by the heli spawn since he crashed the last one, and helplessly watch the jackass fuck everything up and crash us right into the snowy ridge.

Really, I like the choppers, but that's a god awful scenario that was been far too common in games past.

This statement reminded me of this picture............

I'm beginning to wonder if I'm the only one getting this game on the PS3:lol
I'm double dipping PS3 + PC I have a bunch of friends who I still play BF2 with that refuse to play on consoles, and another set that are kind of done with PC gaming.

I'll get whichever console version seems better... I don't know about the pc version... I really don't like kb&m for FPS unless it's Ghost Recon or RB6. But I'll have a brand spankin' new PC very soon, so maybe that will sway me.

I'll be getting it on PS3 and PC as well. Met a lot of cool people in the PS3 beta. The 28th can't come soon enough, the PS3 beta was like crack...I need more!

Why? You're in a 75 page thread basically dedicated to a PS3 beta. There was never a time I couldn't find a game through the entire beta, and I put in 48 hours. Unless it turns out that the 360 version is far superior for some reason I'm getting this for PS3.

its completely off on hardcore mode though. though i wish they have real bullet ballistics that drops.
Should be off in all modes. Spamming select and shooting at triangles is just stupid. But I guess I'll mostly be playing hardcore then.

If it is as you say then that's kind of a halfassed compromise. Wholeassed actually. Shortening its duration only makes it less efficient for teamwork, while doing nothing about the spamming triangles issue. What was wrong with how it worked in BF2?

all day, all night, on both consoles. people love the game.
It'd be great if they released BC1 maps as DLC. Harvest Day was absolutely amazing.

Re-releasing BF2:MC maps would be splendid too. BridgeTooFar and Backstap pls, Dice.

I quite liked it the way it was in the Beta and was sorry to see them gimp it :(

Seriously. Dunno if I want increased bullet damage in BC2 with the recoil on the guns or lack thereof, though.

Did you find it to be a big problem in the beta?

"Did you find it to be a big problem in the beta?"

Find what to be a problem? The recoil or the triangle stuff? Both, really. The problem with the recoil will be amplified by people aiming with mice, same with shooting at triangles. The combination of the triangle junk and recoil make both seem even worse.

I see many people deciding between the PC and PS3 version without the Xbox 360 version being mentioned. Has the PS3 exclusivity of the beta made people decide to buy the game on PS3 instead of on Xbox 360, or are most people posting here PS3 (and PC) only gamers?

Fair enough. I didn't find either to be a problem in the Beta; in fact I didn't find anything other than the tanks being slightly overpowered to be a problem in the Beta, I was a massive fan and I'm now counting the days to the demo...

Probably more to do with the fact that this thread's title only mentions PS3 and PC and so isn't getting much traffic from 360 owners. Personally I'll be getting the PS3 version simply because I don't have a 360 or gaming-spec PC.
