Should I get this for the PS3 or 360? I just got a 360 during the holidays and I barely have any games for it so I was leaning towards the 360 side. What do you guys think?

depends on how many friends you have on each console, I'm pretty sure both versions will be almost identical. With the PC version looking the best (if you have a decent rig)

Singleplayer reveal this Thursday.

Finally! I'm as excited as everyone else for the multiplayer, but I've wanted to hear more about the single player campaign for a while now.

I liked the single player from the first game. There was some funny dialogue between the characters and it kind of bums me out they said BC2 was going a more serious route.

I'm not looking for over the top comedy, but I would love some light-heartedness in the game. Can't wait till Thursday.

Excellent! Requires some trickery but I think I'm gonna do it.

EDIT: Wait, maybe I'm wrong:

Promotional Items
From time to time, GameStop.com will offer a special promotional item with a pre-order. Due to limited availability, these items are only available while supplies last.

Note: An order cannot be cancelled once the pre-order item or code has been supplied.

Damn. What are the chances they'll give out beta keys?

oh man, i remember when i made that Bioshock FOV post and it turned into a 10 page thread with tons of people arguing on both sides. i gotta admit, the FOV in BC is ... well, claustrophobic almost... i'm constantly looking around because it's so narrow, i wish it was wider even though i'm used to it.

Makes sense if it's locked for ranked multiplayer. Anywhere else you should be able to do whatever.

I now remember the FOV of Bad Company's singleplayer being distinctly bothersome. I sincerely hope it's much wider in BC2.
it's not.

So the PC beta offer actually expires in February. I'm not thinking there's a limited number of keys or anything.

Yea, the PC beta keys seem to be exclusive to GameStop online orders. I'm pretty sure we will be seeing more DD vendors issuing out the keys on pre-order and other gaming websites issuing them as well.

You can get them through the EA DD store.

Mr Snrub, did you order from Gamestop to receive your key? Have you ordered online before and do they ship before the release date? I'm just really torn on what to do because i wanna have some time to play this around spring break and wanna get it the day it comes out.

No, sorry :-\ I don't order online specifically because I worry about a delay or something. But that Gamestop deal is overnight shipping...I usually go Steam or the EA digital download. Sorry, someone else here might have more experience with this.

The overnight shipping is only on in-store pickups and when you do that you aren't eligible for a beta key. Might as well just wait it out till release. It will probably be on steam in 3 or 4 weeks anyway for pre-order.

DICE has never been widescreen FOV friendly.

DICE is the award-winning developer of the Battlefield franchise. The Battlefield series has garnered critical praise across the board, and sold exceedingly well. However, it has been a standout for its lack of widescreen support; and DICE has made a name for itself in supporting and fostering the idea that usage of widescreen amounts to cheating. They have equated the additional field of vision in a widescreen to an unfair advantage. A monitor is only one part of a gaming rig or experience. Additional factors such as frame rates, mouse sensitivity and ping also affect gameplay. Any one of these items could be considered an advantage (under their logic).

A player with 60fps is going to have a smoother and more consistent experience than one with 30fps, offering the first player easier targeting. High end gaming mice with high dpi also provide a similar advantage, offering smoother tracking and targeting. Finally, a gamer with a better internet connection and lower ping will have a significant advantage over a gamer with a higher ping.

WSGF players with less-than-stellar rigs hoped that DICE would limit rig performance to 1280x1024 @ 30fps, 300 dpi mouse sensitivity, and a 200ms ping. They never received that level playing field, but DICE did finally relent and offer widescreen support in the 1.5 patch. Rather than make the options available in-game, DICE still required gamers to know the proper command line hack to enable widescreen support.
Same story again.

So the SP stuff coming on GTTV... as a foreigner I'm not really familiar with G4 TV. What time are we expecting it (and in what timezone)? Also once this has aired, is it available digitally anywhere to the public? I'm assuming it will go up at gametrailers.com, does it usually get put up fairly quickly after it airs?

GameTrailers TV airs Thursday nights in the US and the whole episode is usually on their site the same night.

Wow. This might actually prevent me from buying the game.

BF2 is hardly that low, is it?

I think the FOV for BF2 is 65 and there is no way to change it through the console, even with the recent widescreen support in 1.5.

The FOV never bothered me in any of the other BF games, but then I never did play any of them with my widescreen monitor, I know the low FOV drove me mad in Bioshock and Borderlands before I figured out how to increase so it'll be interesting to see how it'll work once the beta is out.

@brennokbob I also felt borderlands FOV on PC was too tight. I don't get that tunnel feeling in #BFBC2
Hopefully this is true for all of us.

hmmm i haven't given a shit about all the other pc version issues of no mods, limited dedicated servers etc but the fov thing is potentially a deal breaker 60 fov is ridiculously low, i play quake with 110 fov! will see how the beta is before possibly cancelling my pre order

this whole dice thing though of, pc gamers we got your back, really is starting to be complete bullshit though

hey, so if the PC BFBC2 is widescreen only and letterboxed on 4:3, what would people do? because that's how the console version works.

the low FOV in BioShock annoyed me, but i lived with it, the same thing happened in BC.

if its letterboxed in 16:10 and 60 fov thats most likely gonna be an instant pre order cancel

edit: on a much brighter note, well for me at least, it looks like it should be good with 3D vision and is in fact not letterboxed in 16:10

I've not been keeping up with this game that much but have a question since I didn't have a chance to play in the ps3 beta.

How often do you get split up from your squad? Does it always happen at the start of a new round? I hated that in 1943. Sending out squad invites so your friends could be on the same squad after every other match was a pain in the ass.

It did happen occasionally but was a lot rarer than in 1943.
